The whole situation started because the housekeeper had prepared something for breakfast that Charlotte didn't

like, and Timothy wasn't happy about it. He had been yelling at the housekeeper about Charlotte's preferences

ever since.

Charlotte this, Charlotte that...

These days, Timothy's entire world seemed to revolve around Charlotte.

To be honest, Suzy found it incredibly frustrating to see him like this. But what choice did she have? This was the

only way he could find ssemblance of happiness for the rest of his life.

The housekeeper stood there, red-faced and humiliated, but Timothy still wouldn't let up. Suzy stepped in

quickly.

"Dad, she understands. She'll make sure it doesn't happen again," she said, trying to calm him down.

"What do you mean, 'next time'? | told her last night that Charlotte wanted croissants for breakfast, and there

weren't any this morning!" Timothy fumed. "She clearly doesn't take what | say seriously. Someone like that has

no place here. Fire her!"

"It's just one mistake," Suzy tried reasoning. "Can't you let it go and give her another chance?"

"No way! She has to go!" Timothy snapped, his anger unrelenting. "I wouldn't mind if I hadn't told her ahead of

time, but | made it clear, and she still couldn't get it right. Does she think my words don't matter?"

Realizing that reasoning with him was useless, Suzy discreetly signaled to the fake Charlotte. Picking up on

Suzy's cue, the imposter quickly walked over to Timothy, gently tugging at his arm. " Brother, don't get so

worked up. If you make yourself sick, I'll feel terrible."

Brother?

Suzy was stunned. What kind of bizarre dynamic was this?

Charlotte, who had lived with Timothy as though they were husband and wife, still referred to him as " brother"?

Suzy couldn't decide what was worse: the ridiculousness of the situation or the fact that a single word from the

fake Charlotte could accomplish what all of Suzy's reasoning couldn't.

As soon as the imposter spoke, Timothy's anger evaporated.

Suzy felt utterly defeated.

She made up her mind-she needed to have them move out. If this continued, she wasn't sure how much longer

she could handle it.

With the matter resolved, Suzy decided to catch up on smuch-needed sleep. She hadn't rested well the

night before, and the exhaustion was hitting her hard.

But before she could even make it upstairs, Dylan arrived.

"| cto thank you.:

"Thankfor what?" Suzy's eyes flickered with unease.

"For everything you did last night to save me," Dylan replied, his gaze sincere. "It must have been hard on you,

so | wanted to express my gratitude in person

“There was nothing hard about it,” Suzy said, clearly trked. “I'm busy, so if you don't have anything else, just

leave already!"

Dylan noticed her exhaustion and asked with concern, "Are you feeling unwell?”

"Which eye of yours seesas unwell? I'm perfectly fine!" Suzy snapped, her irritation rising. "Are you done?

Leave already-you're givinga headache!" Seeing her anger flare, Dylan wisely backed off. "Alright, I'll come

you," Suzy:

"No need. Don't cagain. | don't want to see coldly, her patience running thin. "Stop coming around for no

reason. We're not that close."

Dylan was speechless.

Ignoring whether or not her words might hurt him, Suzy turned to leave.

But just as she stepped away, Dylan's voice called out, firm and serious, "Wait a minute!"

Before she could respond, Dylan wheeled himself swiftly to her side. Grabbing her wrist, he pulled her into his

arms, his eyes locking onto hers. Then he reached up and pointed to the faint red mark behind her ear.

"So it wasn't a dream," he said, his voice low and intense. "You really did helpdetox last night."
