Chapter 135
After Eloise finished speaking, she gently rubbed her chest.
It hurt. It really, really hurt. She never thought her relationship with Harvey would
end this way.
Harvey was staring at her. His gaze was heavy, at least Eloise had never seen him like this. She even felt that he
might slap her in the next second.
But he didn't.
Instead of getting violent, Harvey started laughing, "I remember you gave Orlena a gift symbolizing safety and
protection, and now you're after her life?"
Eloise laughed. She looked at Harvey, "Attorney Horigan, if you could be a little more tolerant, we can coexist
peacefully."
Harvey's Adam's apple bobbed. He also started laughing, "Eloise, you're pretty tough. No wonder Max and
Landon both like you."
He gently pinched her sharp chin. Leaning in, his tone carrying a hint of danger, "I didn't realize you were full of
thorns. | really want to pull them all out."
Eloise's eyes were moist, her nose reddened. She knew Harvey had compromised.
Her body suddenly relaxed, but the hidden pain was even more unbearable. She only knew her stomach hurt,
not knowing exactly where.
Eloise was pale. Struggling, she mumbled, "See you around, Attorney Horigan."
It was over between her and Harvey.
Harvey got up neatly, and indeed, it seemed that way.
On the table was Angus's evidence, which he left for her. As Harvey reached the door, he hesitated for a moment
before turning back. He'd always been ruthless in his actions, rarely this indecisive. But he wanted to ask her

As soon as he turned around, he saw Eloise collapsed next to the table, her slender body curled up, her small
face drained of color.
"Eloise." Harvey rushed over, bending down to pick her up, "What's wrong? I'll take you to the hospital."
Eloise didn't refuse.
It hurt so much...so much...
Her lower abdomen was so uncomfortable, like it was burning. She couldn't even stand, and even lying down
was unbearable.
She had a hunch that it had something to do with their argument just now. Her body wasn't ready; Harvey was
too forceful.
"Harvey...it hurts."
She leaned into his arms, forgetting their argument, because only his warmth could comfort her; only then did
she feel alive, besides the pain.
Being a man, Harvey cared for Eloise. Even though they had a rough time, he couldn't just abandon her. He
carried her into the car and handed her a cup of water. "Drink swater."
Eloise held his cup, tried to open it several times but failed. Harvey simply took it, opened it for her, and let her
hold it to drink.
Not wasting a moment, he drove to the nearest hospital, even without tto find someone familiar.
After drinking swater, Eloise felt a bit better. But she was still uncomfortable and in pain, her lower
abdomen felt bloated and heavy. She leaned back in the chair, her face pale.
"Harvey... Thank you."
"No talking. I'll let you know when we get to the hospital." His voice was unusually gentle, which was rare for
Harvey, considering they'd just had a serious argument, even to the point of breaking up.
Eloise's heart softened. She felt that both of them had been acting out of frustration and without thinking
straight earlier.
She believed he wouldn't really go after her father, and likewise, she wouldn't use
Max against Orlena. Those were just words said in anger.
Eloise wanted to talk to him, but she was in too much pain now. She vaguely thought that she'd wait until she
felt a bit better.
Half an hour later, the Bentley stopped at the hospital entrance. Harvey carried Eloise out of the car and quickly
walked to the emergency department. "Feeling better?"
Eloise nodded, then shook her head.
Harvey quickened his pace, and soon arrived at the registration desk.
The nurse asked which department to register. Eloise was pale and whispered, "Gynecology."
Harvey's eyes dimmed slightly, wondering if his roughness during their intimate moment had hurt her?
He glanced at Eloise. She immediately lowered her head, the atmosphere too delicate.
Harvey took her ID to register for her, then helped her sit on the bench to wait. Luckily, there was only one
patient ahead.
Eloise was very uncomfortable, leaning against the back of the chair, her face pale.
Harvey gently lifted her head. Looking at him, her eyes were full of fear and tears. Perhaps because she was so
fragile now, his tone becespecially gentle: "Rest on my shoulder for a while, it'll be your turn soon."
Eloise's throat tightened, looking a bit uneasy.
Just as she bit her lip, preparing to lean over, a gentle voice cfrom ahead, "Harvey."
Harvey was surprised, looked up, and saw Griffin and Diana.
Griffin looked a little haggard, while Diana's expression was very anxious, her eyes slightly swollen, as if she had
cried for a long time.
Since he was holding Eloise, Harvey didn't stand up, and he just nodded.

Griffin's gaze fell on Eloise. He hesitated and asked, "Ms. Laurent, are you feeling unwell?"
Harvey couldn't tell others about his argument with Eloise, so he conservatively replied, "Yes, she's feeling a bit
unwell."
Diana glanced at her husband.
Griffin understood her meaning, but he seemed very troubled, "Harvey, we didn't mean to disturb you. We didn't
expect to see you here, but Joan's emotional state is very unstable right now, could you please comfort her?"
As his voice fell, Diana started crying. "Harvey, | know this is difficult for you. But Joan's fiancé wants to break off
the engagement. Joan even took ten sleeping pills. Harvey, Griffin and | are begging you. Joan is our only
daughter."
She turned her head towards Eloise, pleading, "Ms. Laurent, | know you're a reasonable person. You wouldn't just
sit back and do nothing, would you? Joan, she's in a really bad shape right now."
Eloise was a bit spaced. Joan was taking sleeping pills? Eloise was supposed to be reasonable?
She felt Harvey's hand holding hers, squeezing gently then letting go, and squeezing again.
He was torn. He wanted to check on Joan too. He was worried about her.
Yes, all Eloise had was a stomachache, while Joan lost a marriage.
Eloise felt a wave of sadness wash over her. She forced a small smile and looked at Harvey. She wasn't the
generous type, so she let him make the decision.
Their eyes met. Harvey gently touched her hair, his voice a bit hoarse, "I'll go check on her, then I'll be right back
with you. Wait forhere, okay?"
Eloise was almost suffocating. She held back her pain, looked at him quietly, and said softly, "Harvey, | hurt too."
Joan brought her pain onto herself. But her pain was real, inflicted by Harvey himself. How could he leave her to
check on Joan. How could he...
Harvey furrowed his brows, "I'll just go check on her and be right back. It won't take long."
Eloise knew that he was blaming her for being unreasonable.
Diana's tone wasn't as nice as before, "Ms. Laurent, Joan and Harvey's past relationship is just that - past. You
don't have to worry about it. They broke up years ago, they're just good friends now."
