Chapter 294 Grandma's Wish Upon arriving at Flint Manor, Grandma Flint's expression brightened with delight. She then took my hand and held it tightly, saying, "You know, Ric often toldabout your beauty, and he even showedphotos of you! But you're even more beautiful than the photos he showed me!" I smiled bashfully and asked, "Eric actually told you that I was beautiful?" Grandma Flint nodded firmly, saying, "Oh, absolutely! He's spoken highly of you tomore than once." I looked over at Eric after hearing that. He didn't reciprocate my gaze, though. He instead turned his head away, hiding his facial expression.

Eric, appearing seemingly flustered, glanced around and asked, "Where's Uncle Brian and the others?" Upon hearing the mention of Brian, Grandma Flint's expression immediately turned grim. She then snorted disdainfully and said, "Who knows what they're plotting this time? I've already told them countless times that Jae would be coming tonight, but they've disregarded my words entirely." Having said that, Grandma Flint's visage flushed, and her breathing grew rapid. I quickly patted her hand and rubbed her back, saying softly, "It's alright, Grandma Flint. You shouldn't get so worked up over such a matter. Your well-being is the most important thing, after all." Grandma Flint sighed deeply and held my hand, looking apologetic as she said, "They're trying to make things hard for you, Jae. If they act out later, don't hold back on my account. I won't hold it against you." It was then that shrill laughter rang out from the doorway. I turned and spotted three people standing there, engaged in lively conversation. They were, as I surmised, Eric's second uncle, Brian, his second aunt, Karen, and his cousin, Joshua. It was obvious that the laugh I heard earlier cfrom Karen.
Upon spotting me, Karen walked over and exclaimed, "I'm so sorry for being late! You see, something unexpectedly cup, and we got held up because of it." Though Karen offered an apology, there wasn't even a hint of guilt in her expression. Rather, it was suffused with an air of provocation.
"You're all here now, so let's start dinner," Eric stated calmly. Karen merely forced a smile and nodded in response.

He asked in a low voice, "I heard you've been married before?" There was a tense silence. I firmly grasped Eric's hand, met Brian's gaze, and nodded, saying, "Yes, I was married before. Is there a rule in the Flint family against remarriage?" "Oh, not at all," Brian responded reflexively, his countenance shifting immediately.
Karen shota reproachful look and scolded, "How can you speak to your elders in such a way?" She then turned to Eric and added, "Is this the type of ill-mannered young woman you've chosen as your wife?" I adopted an expression of innocence, stating, "I don't think I've said anything untoward. I merely followed up on Brian's question."
It was clear that Karen hadn't expected to be deflected so effortlessly, causing he expression to instantly turn unpleasant. Yet since my conduct was beyond reproach, she found herself unable to offer any further retort. It was then that Grandma Flint cleared her throat and said, "I'm done eating. I'll be heading upstairs now." Having said that, she gestured toward the caregiver standing behind her, who then proceeded to wheel her upstairs.
I caught sight of her winking atbefore she left. I immediately meto understood that she wantedto step in for Eric. Ebelieved that with his ability, Eric could effortlessly engage in a verbal confrontation with Brian and the others. Yet out of deference for Grandma Flint, he had consistently chosen to yield.
It was clear that Brian and the others harbored resentment toward Eric due to their inability to gain contro over Flint Group It was because of this that they held a grudge and took it out on Eric in their everyday lives. It didn't take long before they began to consider their harassment of Eric as a customary practice. I decided to thoroughly confront them today.
