Stephanie winced and covered her aching forehead. The butler hurried over. “Ms. Giovanni, letsee if you're
okay.”
“It hurts a bit,” Stephanie said. It really did. She moved her hand, and the butler saw a red mark.
The butler was stunned, thinking, ‘Did Sofia forget that Stephanie’s pregnant? If Sebastian finds out about this,
he'll teach Sofia a lesson.”
The butler quickly asked the maid to bring a hot towel and press it against Stephanie's head. She had sensitive
skin that turned red easily. As she held the towel in place, she took out her phone and called Sebastian.
He picked up right away. “Hey, Stefi,” he said.
“Sofia went to find Dan,” Stephanie said.
Sebastian answered, “Okay.”

Knowing that Stephanie was worried, Sebastian said gently, “Don’t worry. Dan won't dare to do anything in

the towel to the maid beside her and said politely, “Thank you.”
The maid smiled, beaming with happiness. A few minutes later, she brought Stephanie a plate of freshly washed
cherries. “Miss, these just cin today-they’re super fresh.”
The red fruit looked very tempting, and Stephanie swallowed. “Thank you.”
They looked delicious. Even though she'd never really gone without in Long Harbor all these years, it just wasn’t
the sas being home. It felt so good to be back-everything was so familiar and comforting.
Stephanie picked one up and took a bite. “So sweet.”
“Your mom sent them, ‘cause she knows how much you love them,” the maid said.

In the car, Sebastian's eyes flashed coldly behind his gold-rimmed glasses when he found out Sofia had gone to
find Dan. He turned to Elliot, who was driving, and asked, “How's the investigation going?”
Elliot said, “It was six months after Dan ‘passed away’ in Fiorenza that he turned up in Sandara.”
Sebastian asked, “Half a year?”
Elliot nodded. “Yeah, six months. We still don’t know where he was or what he was doing during those six months
between when he ‘died’ in Fiorenza and when he showed up in Sandara.”
“What about his illness?”
“It was real.”
Sebastian didn’t say anything else. If it was real, things could be complicated.
When Sebastian first heard Dan was in Sandara, he felt weird. Why was he alive? And if he was alive, why didn’t

Elliot nodded. “Okay.” He then hurriedly called Louis.
Since Sebastian, Sofia, and her mom weren't home, Stephanie had a quick, simple dinner and then headed back
to her room for the night. She’d been snacking all afternoon, so she didn’t eat much for dinner.
She was fast asleep when Sebastian got back. He gently brushed his warm hand across her face, taking in her
peaceful expression. His eyes softened with tenderness. It felt so good to have her right there beside him.
Stephanie opened her sleepy eyes. Seeing Sebastian, she smiled sweetly. “You back?”
As he looked at her, his eyes were brimming with tenderness. He nodded softly. “Yeah.”
Stephanie asked, “What tis it?”
“It’s eleven. Get back to sleep. I'm going to take a shower,” he said.
Stephanie stammered, “A-Are we sleeping together?”
“Huh?” Sebastian was confused.
Stephanie was still groggy from sleep and hadn't realized yet that they'd won Lottie’s approval.
