Chloe hadn't noticed Reese approaching.
Chloe's eyes sparkled as she said to Cole with a gentle smile, "Director Hopkins, since | won't be bringing you
breakfast anymore, then we should have breakfast together outside the next morning from this day! How does
that sound?"
Cole hesitated before giving a slight smile, "Sure." He nodded.
As Reese heard this, she got so angry that she want to hit someone. Chloe had just made a promise to have
breakfast with Cole in the future. This was an arrangement that held romantic implications.
Chloe pursuing Cole was her personal choice, but she should never take advantage of Ava's efforts to prepare a
loving breakfast for him.
Reese was furious. Cole had never been in a romantic relationship before and lacked experience in this area, yet
Chloe seemed to be the type of woman who excelled at capturing men's hearts.
It's often said that a woman pursuing a man isn't a wise approach. But at this rate, was there any hope for her
best friend Ava?
As Reese mulled over these thoughts, she heard Chloe greet her with a smile, "Good morning, Ms. Roberts."
Reese glared at Chloe; her smile felt hypocritical. She offered a curt response, "Good morning."
She turned her gaze to Cole, her voice tinged with annoyance, "Good morning, Director Hopkins."

Afterward, she quickly walked past them and headed toward the design department.
Chloe blinked, then turned to Cole, giving him a knowing look that seemed to say that Ms. Roberts has feelings
for him.
Cole didn't entirely agree. He'd been informed by Ava to avoid mentioning Luther Van Eimeren in front of Reese.
Shaking his head, he denied Chloe's meaningful glance. "There's no way she likes me; the person she's
interested in is way more impressive than | do." He said.
Recalling Reese's unfavorable mood just now, he furrowed his brows, "She must have encountered something
upsetting on her way here. Don't take it personally, Ms. Preston."
Back at her drawing station in the design department, Reese noticed Chloe and Cole entering the workspace
while chatting and laughing.
She went mad with the sight that she broke the pen in her hand, not realizing that she had been gripping on it
tightly.
The crisp sound echoed throughout the walls that it caught Cole's attention.
Chloe glanced at Cole, her expression implying the justification of her hunch that Ms. Roberts has feelings for
Cole.
But Cole didn't entirely agree. He signaled Chloe to get back to work while he went to deal with Reese.
Chloe returned to her seat, and Cole focused his attention on Reese. "Reese, let's talk in my office."
Reese pressed her lips together, stood up, and followed Cole to his office.
Once inside, Cole closed the door.
Looking at Reese, who seemed downcast, he asked with concern, "Reese, is something bothering you?"
Reese was feeling both upset and angry. She wasn't about to let Ava's feelings go to waste, but she also realized
that she couldn't make decisions on Ava's behalf when it cto her emotions.
She responded with a muffled voice, "It's nothing."
Cole's expression showed his worry, "Why are you so angry early in the morning?"
Reese's irritation made her want to vent, "Director, do you like Chloe?"
Cole was taken aback and started to explain, but his gaze shifted to Reese's forehead. He noticed the bandage
for the first time, his expression instantly changing, "You're injured."
Reese instinctively touched the gauze. Noticing Cole's concerned expression, sof her anger subsided,
After all, Cole ultimately didn't realize that Ava had feelings for him. What the hell was wrong with him? Does he
lack the ability to interact properly with the opposite sex? Reese thought.
She closed her eyes briefly and replied, "It's just a minor bruise, Director Hopkins. It's not a big deal, so there's
no need for you to worry. By the way, you haven't even answered my question."

Cole furrowed his brows, wondering why Reese was so fixated on this issue.
He thought for a moment and then offered an explanation, "Chloe is just a colleague, don't read too much into
it."
Reese deflated, "I'm not reading too much into it. | was just asking." She said.
Cole smiled, and his gaze suddenly becmore focused. "Reese, you don't like me, do you?"
Reese stared at Cole, her expression full of surprise, "Director, how could you think that?" She asked
incredulously.
Cole's smile deepened, noticing the genuine shock on Reese's face. "I was just testing the waters. | guessed you
don't like me. But you were so concerned about my personal matters, | almost thought you were jealous."
Reese's emotions were complicated. What is she supposed to say after that? She looked at Cole in silence, finally
speaking, "Director, | don't mean anything else. I'm just worried you might be taken advantage of. When you're
looking for someone to love, make sure to consider their character. Don't end up like me, who was deceived for
two years without realizing it."
Cole's expression becintricate upon hearing this. It seemed that Reese was only concerned for herself.
He nodded in understanding, "I'll be careful. By the way, there's something else | need to tell you. For the Heart
of the Sea Jewelry Design Competition, our company has two spots. Originally, we intended to send you and
Victoria. But Victoria mentioned she isn't feeling well and opted out of the competition. So..."
