He Doesn't Want A Family Three months.

That's how long it has been since Hera had that conversation with Bryce and since then, there had been a lot of changes. True to his words, he had helped her. He didn't judge her as much as she had thought he would and was very kind enough to show her the ropes of how everything was done. He was very patient with her even though she made a lot of mistakes. Now while he was busy with work, she was taking lessons and he helped her in any way that he could.

Christina on the other hand was also making significant progress. She was taking her lessons very seriously and if all goes well then she'd be writing her final exams to get prepared for college. Hera made sure to speak to her whenever she had the chance to. Christina was smart and Hera was very confident that her sister would definitely ace her papers.

She had always been the brain of the family. Not like Hera was bad herself. She knew that her sister would go through any length to finish strong because asides her, she had always wanted this for herself and now the opportunity had presented itself. "That's the fifth chocolate bar you've had in the space of two hours Cara." Bryce pointed out to her when he saw her bite on it. "Too much sweet isn't good for your health and you know that." He scolded her teasingly.

"I know." She drawled with a tiny pout. "It's just so good and eating it makesstay focused on what I'm working on." He chuckled. "And since when do you consthis much chocolate? You're not usually the type to eat this much sweets on a stretch. I'm getting scared for you now Cara." "Fine. I promise that i won't have any more after this one." She raised it up for him to see but deep down, he knew that she would. She had done the syesterday when she almost emptied out a large bowl of ice cream from the fridge in front of him. "Alright." He said instead. "I'll be leaving now. Mariam will handle everything when I'm gone and if you need anything, anything at all, then feel free to callokay?" "What if you're busy with work?" "I'm never too busy when it comes to you." He kissed her forehead and then her lips before leaving. Hera saw him off and minutes later, he was gone.

"Good morning Hera." Mariam greeted her warmly. "You look positively radiant this morning that i almost didn't recognize you." Hera giggled like a little child. "Good morning Ma'am. How are you doing today?" "Pretty good. I see that sir has left for work." Hera nodded politely. "Yes he has." "Bryce is so keen of you Hera. He's changed a lot these past few months. Whatever you're doing must be working." The older woman praised her heartily. "It's rare to see him like this. Very happy and i love it for him." "Have you had breakfast yet?" Mariam had asked the little lady who stood innocently by the side. "Bryce had askedto take care of you since you'll be busy with your lessons and might forget to eat." "I've had breakfast but it wouldn't hurt to eat something else." She answered with a soft smile.

"I'll make something right away then." Mariam made an attempt to enter the mansion and Hera decided to accompany her. She was an adult but had the innocence of a child.

"I'll help you." She held the older lady by the arm and led her into the house.

"You don't have to. You have to study very hard." "One day in the kitchen wouldn't stopfrom reading Ma'am so please." She had asked so nicely that Mariam had no other choice but to oblige.

Once in the kitchen, they set out to work. "What would you like to have?" "Chicken broth. I've been craving that a lot lately." She answered almost immediately with a light chuckle. "Oh and can i have it with rice? I'm very sure that with your cooking, it'd be delicious." "Of course child. Helpwith the chicken and vegetables from the fridge." Mariam requested and Hera did as she was told. She set up the ingredients then went further to take out the leftover piece of cheese and yogurt from the fridge. "In all my days of making chicken broth child, i don't think I've ever used cheese and yogurt as part of the ingredients for making the soup." Hera stared at the items in her hands. "Oh. This isn't for the soup ma'am. It's for me." Mariam was appalled at her response. "And what do you need cheese and yogurt for? Do you want to bake something?" Hera laughed at her sense of humor. "No. I want to eat them. They smelt so good earlier when i opened the fridge. I'll just take a bite out of it." She pushed her hair backwards and went further to dig into the cheese in her hands.

Mariam watched her with a hard stare, trying to figure out what was going on. Who eats cheese together with unsweetened yogurt without making a fuss or a whiny face? She really tooked like she was enjoying it and it had her thinking, her brain calculating the possibilities of what could be happening.

"Hera are you okay?" Mariam had asked when she noted how strange she was behaving. "Do you feel okay?" "I'm fine ma'am." She answered. "Never been better." "Do you feel tired or strange these past few days?" She went further to ask but when she didn't respond, she decided to push even more. "Do you feel nausea or fatigue or any of those sort? Do you find yourself craving a lot of food lately?" Hera thought about her questions for a while. "A lot but i didn't think it was anything serious because i was studying a lot so i assumed that i was just a little stressed and overworked." Mariam swallowed. "Is everything okay ma'am?" Mariam didn't know if her calculations were right and even if they were, she didn't exactly know how to tell the little woman that it might be what she was suspecting it to be. And besides, she didn't want to get her scared over something that she hasn't proven to be true, yet.

Her old bones knew what was happening but sadly, the little woman didn't. I'm pretty sure that she might have heard of it but doesn't exactly know what she was going through it. And if she doesn't know then she would bet a hundred percent that Bryce didn't know either. She had to figure out how to ease her into it because she couldn't drop it on her like this. One wrong move would send her straight into panicking. Firstly, Hera was from a convent so she knew just how sensitive this topic would be for her.

"Hera, can i ask you a question?" Mariam started, slowly approaching her. "It's a very personal question so i don't know if i should go ahead. Do i have your permission." Hera nodded once. "Of course Mariam, you can ask me." She breathed in deeply. "When was the last tyou saw your flow?" Hera paused to give her question sthought and not being able to cup with a single date made her heartbeat drop. It's been three whole months already. She didn't really think much of it and she didn't bother to check because she thought that it had maybe skipped a month which was usual sometimes but hearing Mariam ask her this question, startled her.

"I...I don't remember." She stuttered and sat down on the nearest seat. She was panicking and Mariam could tell. "Two months ago, maybe three." She rubbed her hands together nervously.

"Hey, it's okay." Mariam hugged her for comfort. "I could be overthinking it but I just found it strange that you were prepared to consa whole bottle of unsweetened yogurt and cheese at the stime." "I don't know what to do." She whispered sadly.

"We'll do a test to be sure and after that, we can tell Bryce "No." She shook her head vehemently in disagreement as tears rolled down her eyes. "We cannot tell him. Bryce would get angry at me."

Mariam chuckled at her words and el touched her cheeks affectionately. "Now why would he get angry at you? He loves you Hera and you love him too. If anything, he'd be happy if he finds that you're positive after the test." She shook her head again. Tears falling down freely. "He wouldn't.

Bryce wouldn't like it. He doesn't like children and he doesn't believe in relationships. He had said it himself

countless times that he doesn't want kids or a family. He doesn't want m anything to do with it and doesn't even like talking about it. If i tell him about this then he will get upset with me." She sniveled. He couldn't even tell her that he loves her. He hasn't even opened up to her in that aspect yet and if he finds out about this then who knows what he might do or say? She cannot tell him. She simply can't.
