Chapter 919 Caught off guard, the man let out a pained grunt. Seizing the moment, Selena shoved him away, flung open the car door, and slipped inside with speed. She slammed it shut and quickly locked it, not wasting a second. Everett, still fuming, retorted, "You calla dog, but you're the real one here!" Selena, uninterested in engaging, simply directed the driver, "Let's go." Holt darted in through the other side, and in no time, the car sped off, leaving a cloud of dust behind. Meanwhile, the woman who had witnessed the whole scene strutted over in her high heels, clearly entertained.

She chuckled at the sight of Everett's flustered face. "I've never seen you make so many faces at once! Quite the show." Everett shot her a sideways glance, his displeasure evident.

She continued teasing, "Aren't you going to chase after her?" Ignoring her, Everett turned and walked toward his car, making it clear he wasn't going to.

The woman clicked her tongue in mock disapproval, then followed him into the car.

As he started the engine, Everett said coolly, "I'll take you home." An hour later, they arrived at the Adams family estate.

Mila glanced at him, "Not coming in to say hi?" Everett shook his head, "Nope." Mila frowned, suddenly reaching over to pinch his cheek. "You were kind of cute with that poker face as a kid, but now? Not so much." Everett batted her hand away. "Get out of the car." Did she think his face was open for business? He wasn't a helpless kid anymore.

Mila giggled, unbuckling her seatbelt and opening the door. Just as she was about to leave, she paused, "As your cousin, having gone through srough patches together, I have to say something." S to "Don't be like your mom. She cared about your dad but was too stubborn to show it, and you ended up suffering- never really feeling the warmth of family. I've heard your kids are doing well, thanks to Selena. If it were any other woman, you'd be in trouble." "If you don't appreciate what you have, you'll end up lonely." Everett's lips pressed into a thin line. "You don't know anything." It wasn't that he hadn't tried; Selena had just stomped all over his genuine feelings.

He was human too, capable of hurt and fear, especially when his efforts went unnoticed.

After a pause, he sneered, "You're fresh out of a divorce yourself. We're in the sboat, so sparethe lecture." Mila's face darkened, hurt by his words. "Get out of here, you ungrateful jerk." She slammed the car door shut behind her.

Late at night, Selena finished her bath and sat at her vanity applying her skincare routine. Despite her efforts, images of Everett with that elegant woman kept popping into her mind.

She knew moving on wouldn't be easy, but thankfully, tmends all wounds.

Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she lay down and eventually drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, after breakfast with her son and daughter, Mateo, unusually clingy, asked if she could take him to school. With everything that had been going on, Selena felt guilty for not spending enough twith her kids, so she readily agreed.

She knelt down, adjusted her son's school uniform, helped him with his backpack, and took his small hand in hers as they headed outside.

Unexpectedly, as they stepped out, they were greeted by a sleek black Maybach parked nearby, with Everett leaning against it, his dark eyes fixed on her with a cold intensity. tò
