Chapter 399
Anyway, the only person who knows what just happened besides Hannah was that penniless Charlie. She had
made herself clear earlier, if Charlie were smart, he wouldn't dare to oppose her.
So, Hannah could say whatever she wanted now. At worst, after William left, she would stay and keep an eye on
Charlie, pretending that they did the task together.
After all, she was rich. Her family could always compensate him extra later, so he wouldn't be taken advantage
of for nothing.
In Hannah's eyes, Charlie was the one getting a good deal. He should be grateful.
Hannah straightened her back and smiled gracefully. “Yes, since you guys weren't around, someone has to
prepare the seafood for dinner, right? So Charlie and | volunteered to do it!
William believed her and gave her a thumbs-up.
“Amazing! | didn’t expect a girl like you to know how to handle seafood.”
Hannah felt even more delighted as he praised her. She slightly tucked her hair behind her ear and accepted the
compliment graciously. “Yeah, I've always liked cooking, so this isn’t difficult for me.”
William nodded, then looked at her with curiosity in his eyes. “Hey, could you showhow to handle an oyster
then? | always eat them but | never knew how they were prepared. Showhow it’s done, do you need to cut it
open?”
Hannah's face stiffened as she looked at his curious eyes.
She took a glance at the oysters on the ground, the seafood’s stench still lingering in the air.

Ugh.
She held back her disgust and said with difficulty, “Sorry, I'm not feeling well. I'll make a move first, I'll show you
when | have a chance later.”
After that, she immediately turned around and fled the scene.
She was afraid William would make her open an oyster on the spot if she stayed any longer
William was confused.
Suddenly she’s feeling unwell?
But, the dim-witted William didn’t suspect anything. Soon, his attention was drawn back to the oysters.
He was drooling over a giant oyster in his hand. “Wow! The oysters are so big! Boss wasn’t lying at all! | love
her!”
His loud declaration of love made the atmosphere tense.
“None of it is for you,” a cold, ruthless voice sounded nearby.
William glared at Charlie. “Why not? Boss said | could eat whatever | wanted. Who are you to orderaround?”
Charlie licked his lips and spoke coldly, “I brought these back. Don’t | get to decide? Besides, | have a little
brother who's a fool. So, do you think that you can orderaround?”
Immediately, William looked at Charlie from head to toe curiously. “Tsk, tsk, tsk. | wouldn't have guessed it. You
have a strong physique and you look normal, it’s a pity that you have a silly brother.”
Charlie shot him a cold glance. “Yes, | think so too.”
William, thinking of something, said, “Our families are quite similar. | also have a brother, but unlike you, I'm
super smart and very capable!”
Charlie smirked. “Yeah, sure.”
The sarcasm was evident, but William didn’t catch it.
Because at that moment, William was sympathising with Charlie for having a silly sibling.
“Hey, having a silly brother is tough. How old is he? Was he born that way?”
Charlie looked at him. “He’s the sage as you. No, he wasn’t.”
William pursed his lips. “Sage as me? That's not too old.”
William, who had just been scolding Charlie for hogging the seafood Milly brought, quickly forgot all about it after
hearing about Charlie's silly brother
Now, he was squatting next to Charlie, asking questions non-stop.
After a while, he wrinkled his nose and murmured, “I don’t know why, but | feel like | know your brother even
though I don’t know anyone with the surn‘Lawson’ around me.”
“Mhm.”
William suddenly asked, “Your brother probably hasn't eaten this kind of seafood before due to your family’s
condition. Why don’t you take sback for him? Even though he’s silly, he would be happy.”
To his surprise, Charlie refused. “No thanks. He wouldn't know how to appreciate it.”

“Alright, bringing it back wouldn't be fresh anyway. | can eat more of it later. It would be a shto waste it.”
“You don’t need to eat it either.”
“Huh? Why?”
“You wouldn't know how to appreciate it too,” Charlie said.
William huffed. “Isn't that what you said about your silly brother? Are you trying to say that I'm silly as well?”
“Haha, it just slipped out.”
William realised that Charlie was mocking him.
He was about to jump up in anger but then he remembered Charlie's poor brother.
“Hmph, forget it. Your life is hard enough having a silly brother. You're lucky that I'm not going to hit you today!”
Charlie slightly glanced at him helplessly.
William's temper flared quickly and died down just as fast. One moment he was ready to fight, the next he was
squatting beside Charlie again, helping him handle the seafood.
He had never done it before, so he could just imitate Charlie's actions.
At the stime, perhaps she wanted to steal the spotlight or build a good image, so Stephanie volunteered to
go to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Seeing her taking the cleaned seafood away, William asked Milly with confusion, “She’s not going to poison us,
right?”
Milly calmly replied, “No, she wouldn't dare. But...”
Her eyes narrowed instantly.
The sudden change in her behaviour was definitely suspicious.
