Chapter 828 I Don't Mind
Silence enveloped the car for a moment before Jenny said, "Thank you. You can drop me
off now."
"Aren't you headed for the police station? I'll drive you." Alec replied, not slowing down.
Jenny shook her head. "I can call a cab." She didn't want to be involved with Luke, nor did
she want Alec to overthink just because she chose to leave with him.
Alec still wasn't slowing down. "I know you don’t feel the same way I do right now. In fact,
you might even hate me. But you don't need to worry about me doing anything to you. All
I'm doing is driving you to the station."
"You misunderstand. I just don't want to trouble you, that's all." Jenny didn't hate Alec; she
just didn't think him doing this for her right now was appropriate for their current
relationship.

Now Jenny didn't know what to say. She pursed her lips and left it at," Alright then."
If Alec insisted, there was no point insisting otherwise. It'd be silly to get into an argument
over something so trivial.
Her phone suddenly rang.
"Hey Evan," she greeted after picking up.
"Where are you? I'm at the hospital." He had obviously gone all the way just to see her.
Unfortunately, Jenny had long left.
"Oh, I've already left. I'm on the way to the police station. They need me to make a
statement."
"I'll come pick you up."
Jenny eyed Alec in the driver's seat and said, "No need. We'll meet for dinner. You can put
in the orders first. I'll be right there."
"Alright. Be careful, Jenny."
After hanging up, Alec asked, "Are you close with Evan Clarke?"
"Decent, I guess," Jenny said simply. They'd grown up together, after all, so there was still
that childhood bond between them.
Decent?
Alec scrunched up his nose. "You know, there are rumors he's working in Walter Inc to get
you to be his girlfriend-turn-wife. What do you think?"
He wanted to see how Jenny would react, wanted to know what she thought about him. If
Jenny didn't like Evan, no way would that man succeed.
Still, Jenny immediately picked up on it. "I think he's pretty brave."
She couldnt let Alec get all the points now, could she?

Jenny shot him a look before saying, "That concerns you how? Evan is a fine, handsome
man. Don't I have the right to be interested?"
She used to like Evan. She even confessed to him, too.
Jenny looked upon that memory with only amusement at herself. Still, Evan must be
different from every other man based on what she'd done.
"Is he more capable than me? I doubt he's more good-looking." Alec huffed, feeling
jealous.
"Can you stop that, Alec? You're not the only 'capable' man in the world, you know." Jenny
rolled her eyes. This man was just as narcissistic as he was when they first met.
Alec wasn't embarrassed about it at all. "I don't care what anyone else thinks. What you
think is all that matters to me. So do you think Evan is better than me?"
