In the end, Austin was given a jade token, as was everyone else, including the Heavenly Majestic Pot.
"I have told you everything there is to tell," the old man's shadow added.
"My mission is complete. Now, it is tfor you to seek your destinies and get on your own trails.
Ah! | almost forgot. The road of trial winds through various cities like this Layne Lu City. There you can find places to take shelter or
rest."
The old man's voice suddenly took a forbidding tone, further accentuated by the fact that his shadow was hovering over them in
midair.
"Bear in mind that all the wares and services, including natural resources and treasures for cultivation, that are offered within
these cities must be purchased with money or something else.
Anyone who makes the mistake of taking them by force or trickery will be executed without mercy!"
"Sir!" A voice called out among the gathered men.
"Can we gain access to the Yellow Cosmos once we've finished our trails on the road of trial?
Will the door to the Gods' Hometown finally appear?"
These were the squestions that had been lurking in everyone else's mind.
Hearing the words out loud made everyone stand a little straighter and grip their weapons a little tighter, as if they were suddenly
pulled back to reality.
Their purpose in coming here was to find the door to the Gods' Hometown and enter the Yellow Cosmos.
They all somehow got distracted by the knowledge that the passage they were about to take was the Primordial Road, and
temporarily lost sight of their original goal.
"You may, of course, set foot in the Yellow Cosmos," cthe old man's reply. "Once the trial is completed, you will be presented
with choices, among them the choice to be teleported to the Yellow Cosmos.
You may also choose to be teleported to other cosmoses, even back here to the Purple Cosmos.
The Primordial Road has several entrances and exits, but | cannot tell you anything about the door to the Gods' Hometown. | know
nothing of it.
My only task is to explain the rudimentary points you need to know about the trails ahead.
As for information concerning other matters, I'm afraid | have been detached from the outside world for too long, and thus can be
of no help to you."
The shadow began to ripple in the air, about to dissipate into nothing.
Suddenly another voice piped up among the crowd.
"Sir, why this city is named after Master Layne Lu? Does it have something to do with him?"
"Huh?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHigh up in the air, the old man's shadow trembled back into shape, its form seeming to vibrate with a subtly violent energy.
Twin pricks of light shone at the place where its eyes were supposed to be, and their gaze locked on to the direction of Austin, who
had fired the question.
"You are familiar with the story of Master Layne?"
The old man's shadow asked Austin with his spiritual sense, keeping the conversation a secret from the rest of the creatures in
attendance.
"Master Layne was the forefather of all the carpenters," Austin answered carefully through his own spiritual sense, keeping his tone
respectful towards the old man.
"He laid the foundations of carpentry. I've heard of his stories before."
"It seems that you bear a strong connection to that ancient planet.
All right, since we both cfrom the splanet, | will tell you a secret.
In the first test, you will need to get five thousand points in order to gain qualification for the next trial.
But anyone who manages to get ten thousand points can acquire a magic weapon left by Master Layne.
It is a very powerful magic weapon!"
As soon as it finished speaking, the old man's shadow disappeared without a trace.
"From the splanet!" Austin exclaimed. This possible revelation was a pleasant surprise.
"Are you from Earth, sir?"
There was no more reply, however, nor any trace whatsoever that the shadow still lingered among them.
"Sir! Sir!"
The other creatures were crying out at the space where the shadow disappeared.
Of course, Austin was not the only one who still had much to ask. But no matter how much they called out to the old man, there
was no reply, and the shadow never reappeared.
Gingerly, the crowd began to disperse, the creatures looking for areas to rest.
Soon they were on their feet again, ready to embark into their journey.
The puppets took up their posts and performed according to their assignments. They behaved as ordinary people living the same
old mundane lives.
All the creatures who hailed from the outside regarded these human-like puppets with ill-concealed fascination.
"Ha-ha! So this is the Primordial Road! | never expected that | would have the chance to enter this legendary ancient road of trial
by accident! What good luck!"
"This could be the chance forto rise as a great cultivator!"
They were bubbling with energy and excitement, marveling at their good fortune for participating on this quest, all of them keen
on undertaking the trials that lay ahead.
That being said, everyone was of a common mind to seek srest in Layne Lu City first.
The tests on the Primordial Road were very important; the adventurers naturally thought it best to condition themselves
beforehand so they could be at their full capacity.
Not to mention that there were a good number of treasures to be found within the city.
Most of the creatures were in no hurry to leave the city for fear of passing up the chances of obtaining the precious items.
"Let's have a look around this city."
Austin ventured through the ancient streets, accompanied by Violet and the others. They explored with open curiosity, discovering
shops selling spiritual herbs, pills of magic power, and magic treasures.
The Heavenly Majestic Pot, on the other hand, stayed behind in the Slave Tower. Being a magic treasure as well, its presence was
easily recognizable to cultivators, especially those from the Divine Sect.
"It's the Flower of Law. | want to trade it with a piece of special immortal metal."
Inside a herb shop, a handsyoung man was talking animatedly with the salesman. There was an excited glint to the
customer's eyes.
Then from one of his sleeves he pulled out a cloud of bright light as big as a fist. In the center of the light cloud was a live dragon,
swimming and roaring ceaselessly. Beneath its claws, the clouds parted in auspicious colors.
But that was not all. To the amazement of the bystanders, the dragon soon transformed into a majestic phoenix, then into a white
tiger, then a mysterious turtle, then a kirin, and then into many other divine beasts
"It is indeed the immortal metal!" cthe murmurs among the spectators.
A good number of them recognized the value of the light cloud that the handsyoung man possessed. They gaped at it with
barely hidden avarice.
Even the creatures who had no deep knowledge of the immortal metal could tell that it was extremely precious. It was obviously
something extraordinary. They, too, wore expressions of greed and desire in their faces.
Alongside the young man stood three earth immortals, and they gave off terrifying auras of energy.
At this point everyone had already realized who this young man was. He was the smartest successor in the Divine Sect.
The current leader of the Divine Sect was said to have chosen a dozen successors. This young man before them was the most
excellent among them, and was undoubtedly the most favored by their current leader. Speculations were already going around
that the leader of the Divine Sect intended to cultivate this young man and choose him as the next leader.
Austin was familiar with him as well. Not too long ago, he and the Heavenly Majestic Pot had schemed to capture this young man.
Three powerful earth immortals were guarding him constantly, however, sticking to his side no matter where he went. They never
could find an opportune moment to set things in motion, and eventually gave up on their plans.
"This piece of immortal metal is quite equal to the Flower of Law in value," the shop clerk mused. "Fine, then. We can trade."
He took the light cloud from the young master, and handed him the Flower of Law in return.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe immortal metal was the ultimate material used for refining all top magic treasures in the world. It was peerless in value.
In another corner of the store, Austin witnessed a core disciple from a powerful sect trade a Legendary Dragon Fruit with an equally
impressive treasure.
Judging by the treasures they kept whipping out for trade, it soon becapparent that the core disciples of the strong sects were
ridiculously wealthy.
"What?!" the gnsuddenly exclaimed from the streets. "That is an Ancient Spatial Fruit!" In the next moment he was bounding
into another herb shop.
The object of his desire was a dark purple fruit sitting on the shelf. He stared at it longingly, his breath coming in short, heavy
pants.
His attention piqued at the scene that unfolded, Austin secretly extended his spiritual sense to feel the fruit.
‘This fruit contains astonishing space energy!"
"It is the Ancient Spatial Fruit," the gnome's voice cinto Austin's mind.
"For those of our kind, this is considered as our holy fruit. It is priceless!"
"Ancient Spatial Fruit?" Austin wondered at that. "The holy fruit of your species?"
He could tell that the gnwas anxious to acquire it.
"Hey, man," Austin stepped in smoothly and asked the store attendant.
He pointed at the fruit in question.
"Nthe price for this one. | want to buy it."
Before the attendant could answer, a loud ruckus ensued at the entrance of the shop.
"Everybody out! If you don't want to die here today then get out, all of you!"
Several earth immortals marched into the shop, flanking the entrance and forming a path. In waltzed a young man wearing a cold
and arrogant expression. He had his hands behind his back as he glided pompously into the room.
Judging from the whole debacle just now, this young master must also be a core disciple from a certain major force.
He walked up to Austin and glared at him under his nose.
"Who do you think you are? You want to purchase the Ancient Spatial Fruit? Cease your foolish ambitions! This Ancient Spatial Fruit
is mine! You there, givethe price, now!"
