Chapter 600
Lewis had come to the hospital early, spending nearly hall an hour reporting to Gary about work-related things.
Then he stayed here, occasionally giving Mrs. Griffin a hand, though most of the time he sat on a sofa nearby with
his laptop in his lap to deal with work.
When Gary pushed Larissa out of the ward, Lewis was still focused on reading work emails from Aldovia.
Mrs. Griffin looked outside the door. “He went to answer a call and left. But his things are still here, so he will
probably be back soon.” As she said, Lewis” laptop was still placed on the sola he had been sitting on, and the
power indicator was still lit, which clearly meant that he had just left not long ago.
Gary passed Larissa over to Mrs. Grillin. “Help Lari get into the bed. I will call Lewis. However, before the call went
through. Lewis came back. The phone in his hand rang at this time, Lewis looked down to see before asking Gary in
surprise. “You were looking for me, Gary?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtGary did not rush to speak. He waited until Mrs. Grimin helped Larissa get into the bed before using an excuse to
get her out of the room. then he closed the door.
“Yvette’s next door. Go find out what is going on with her.”
Lewis’ eyes widened. “Yvette’s in the ward next door?” He did see someone enter the ward next door, but he did
not expect the patient in
there to be Yvette. “I’ll ask a doctor.”
Ever since Larissa was hospitalized, he visited the doctor’s ollice almost every day to get updates on Larecovery
progress. V
such frequency, he was now familiar with all the doctors in the department so getting this kind of information was
easy for him.
It only took three to five minutes for Lewis to figure things out, and he came back from the doctor’s office.
“She’s really hurt, and it’s quite severe. Someone must have beaten her. She’s not awake yet so no one knows
what happened to her.”
Although Yvette was her biological mother, Larissa felt nothing as she listened to what Lewis said. However, Gary’s
face darkened, and his expression was quite solemn. Soon, some noise could be heard outside.
Lewis went out for a look, saying. “The police are here. They went next door.”
For this matter to involve the police meant that it was not as simple as it looked. However, the police did not stay in
Yvette’s ward for long. probably because she was still unconscious.
Lewis relayed the information to them at once. “They seem to be going to the doctor’s office.”
“Enough.” Gary waved his hand. “Come Inside.”
The police would not get any more information than they already have from the doctors.
“Is Rogers coming today? Gary asked Larissa.
Kevan came to the hospital every day, contributing to Gary’s mounting displeasure. From the more polite address
of “Mr. Rogers,” he’d changed it into just “Rogers” with utmost imitability.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLarissa scolded him several times for that, but Gary was very stubborn about this. Moreover, the more she
defended Kevan, the more bones he had to pick with the man. Over time, Larissa could not be bothered to care
about this anymore.
Thankfully, Kevan was open-minded and did not fuss over this with Gary. No matter how bad Gary’s attitude was,
Kevan was always polite and tactful whenever he visited. This only heightened Larissa’s impression of him.
“Yeah, I guess so,” she said.
Kevan knew that she did not have a phone. If he could not come due to some reason, he would let her know the
day before to prevent her
from waiting up for him for the whole night,
“He won’t be coming.” Lewis said, his tone more certain than hers
Gary looked at him, and Lewis explained, “He called me and said that he had something on tonight so he won’t be
able to come. I came back after the call, then you told me to look into Yvette, so I forgot all about it. I just
remembered now,“
“What could he possibly have going on tonight?” Gary was not satisfied with this vague explanation. “When I’m not
looking for him, he comes here every day, and I can’t even kick him out. But now that I’m looking for him, he has
something going on!”
