Chapter 540
*Finish your food.’ Kevan finally retracted his cullery, but his oppressive gaze remained fixed on
Larissa.
Larissa only fell that he was being ludicrous. “Your daughter has been kidnapped!” she repeated. “How
can you still eat?”
Even she-a byslander who hated Bethany, could not help but be anxious. As Bethany’s father, Kevan’s
current actions were a little too
heartless.
“She’ll be fine.” Kevan’s lone was mild but certain.
Larissa was stunned. “How do you know?”
How did he know?
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKevan glanced at his incessantly ringing phone before accepting the call as well as putting it on
speakerphone.
“Kevan Rogers?” It was an unknown man who called, a Bartham local from his accent. His tone was
fierce, and it was clear that he was not someone to be messed with.
Kevan hummed lightly. “Was there something you needed?”
The man seemed to be pis sed by his nonchalant atlitude, yelling. “Do you not want your daughter
anymore?”
As if to play alera with him, the moment the mar stopped speaking, Bethany’s wals came through.
“Daddy! Save me! Daddy! I’m scared!”
No matter how cun ning and manipulative Bethany was, she was still a five-year-old kid. Her voice had
been transformed by fear, nearly every word she said was uttered tremblingly.
Larissa closed her eyes. She did not wish to think about the abuse that Bethany may go through. She
could only pray and hope that Bethany would be able to return safely as Kevan sald.
“How much money do you want?” Kevan did not beat around the bush with the kidnapper.
“One bilion! In cash!” The kidnapper confidently stated the amount.
Kevan smirked and said, “I can give you that, but are you sure you can take it?
He probably did not know how much space cre billion dollars could take up.
Then, he hung up with a loud slam.
The kidnapper le silent all of a sudden. He only spoke again after a while. “Wait!” Th
Dylan charted. “This guy must be an idiot.”
Kevan put his phone down, a hint of mockery in his eyes. “Il he needs to save that much money. I
suppose he really doesn’t have much potential in fe.”
Larissa did not understand. “Who? Save what money?”
Kevan did not answer her question though. “How’re things with Jack?” he asked Dylan, who shook his

The kidnapper’s number was probably bought from someone else, as the identity was bound to be a
fifty-something middle-aged woman who did not even live in Bartham. The police could only track the
signal to pin down the man’s location.
“Have Jack wall a Itile. He will call again.” Kevan was still calm. It was as if no matter how big an
incident could be and how difficult things may gel, he would be unfazed.
As Kevan expected, the kidnapper called after about ten minutes.
Alter informing Jack, Kevan answered the call,
‘Prepare a bank card that has one billion dollars in it, and write the passcode on the back! Tomorrow
afternoon at 3 pm, put it underneath the statue in Central Park Square! If you’re late, your daughter will
be in a body bag! Also, do not lucking call the police, or your daughter is dead meat! The kidnapper
fired off a long stream of words before hanging up without giving Kevan time to react.
When Kevan called over again, the phone was already turned oll.

Kevan just grunted in acknowledgment without any expressions of disappointment or remorse.
