"What gathering?" asked Vermont. Marshall paused and said calmly, "Didn't you invite everyone to get together and
ask Keegan to contact me?"
Vermont was confused when he heard that. 'When did I set up a get- together, and why do I not know about it?

Vermont was the best at helping his best friend out in a lie. "Ah, yes. Are you coming?" He immediately asked.
"rm not sure yet. I have two upcoming lawsuits to settle this week. I'll be there if I finish my work in time," said
Marshall. He paused momentarily and asked, "Are you guys bringing the girls? Or will it just be us?"
Vermont laughed and said, "It'll just be us, of course. Where's the fun if the girls are there?" This was especially true
when Stella was there. Vermont would play around with Keegan when he was drunk whenever they went out for

Marshall was silent momentarily before saying, "Okay, I see."
After hanging up the phone, Felicity stared at Vermont and said, "Why even bother having a girlfriend if having us at
your gathering is no fun?"
Hearing that, Vermont grinned and said, "You can go if you want to. I'm sure it'll be fun with you there."
"I'm already tired from dealing with you every single day, and you want me to deal with you when you're drunk?
Are you suggesting I die faster?"
"You're being dramatic."
Felicity pointed at her dark circles and said, "Look at me! When I went to pick up my delivery earlier, the person at
the counter asked if I was alright because, apparently, I looked awful."
That statement amused Vermont, but when he saw the dark circles under Felicity's eyes, he did not laugh. 'It does
look pretty bad,' he thought.
Vermont had always called her over on the grounds of being injured, and she would always respond to his requests
out of guilt.
Vermont did not actually want Felicity to work for him; he just wanted to spend more time with her. However, he
knew she would not have shown up if he did not use his body as an excuse.
He grabbed Felicity's hand, and in a low voice, he said, "Thank you."
Felicity found it a little weird that Vermont was suddenly being so serious.' It's not a big deal as long as you get well
soon. What did the doctor say the last time you went for a check-up?"
Vermont could not tell her he was fine that quickly, so he said, "The doctor said that my body's still healing and told
me to sleep on my back for the next two days. It doesn't hurt that much anymore. They told me I can go on with
my daily life but can't take part in extreme exercise."

Vermont was a little disappointed. "The wound had scabbed over, but... I still can't... You know..."
"But why? Isn't the injury healed already?" Felicity was getting a little anxious. "Did the doctor say anything about it?

"The doctor didn't say much and just told me to rest." Vermont cleared his throat and continued, "They also told me

out?"
Vermont's heart felt stuffy. He could not believe she was asking him to find another girl. "You're my girlfriend. Why
are you telling me to find someone else?"
"I'm just your pretend girlfriend," Felicity muttered in a low voice.
Vermont glared at her and said, "You're my real girlfriend in other people's eyes. They’d think I'm cheating if I find
another woman. Stella would kill me if she knew I 'cheated' on you!
