Chapter 1748

Two agreements were laid out. It was clearly stated that from this day forth, their mother, Gina, would be cared for

by their eldest son, Elliott, and their father, Shawn, by their daughter, Emily. Any future illness or death would not

concern the other party!

Bonnie added another clause, stating that the house they currently lived in had nothing to do with Emily and Shawn.

Emily didn’t say a word, allowing Magdalen to add it to the agreement.

Both parties signed their names and pressed their thumbprints onto the papers, making the agreement official.

“Emily!”

Elliott looked at Emily with a sorrowful expression. He never thought that their family would end up like this!

Bonnie yanked Elliott away, eager to sever any ties with Emily as soon as possible, hoping to avoid even the most

basic greetings in the future.

As the Sullivans left, the hallway became eerily quiet. Emily felt emptiness within her. People always said that one’s

parents were their roots. Without them, they had no place to return.

Her parents were still alive, but she still felt homeless.

Regardless, she had to continue her journey alone!

Estelle gently patted Emily’s shoulder. Her soft, comforting voice held a certain strength, “Don’t be afraid!”

Magdalen echoed, “Yes, don’t be afraid. Ella and I are here.”

Emily looked at them, tears welling up uncontrollably. She nodded, choking back a sob, “Okay.

The three of them sat on a bench, waiting. A few people from OrbitaTech Ventures frowned at the situation.

What kind of family treated a girl like this?

Bard’s phone rang. He glanced at it and quickly walked away.

A black Rolls Royce was parked downstairs. Bard opened the door and respectfully greeted, “Mr. James!”

Charlie nodded slightly, “What’s the situation with Shawn?”

Bard replied, “He’s still in surgery.

The outside light shone on Charlie’s handsome face, casting a soft glow. He asked in a low voice, “How is Emily?”

Bard gave him a rundown of the incident involving Shawn’s wife, Gina, their son, and daughter-in-law.

Charlie furrowed his brows tightly, his hand clenched into a fist. He felt a painful rage in his heart, wishing he could

see Emily right away.

“Mr. James, don’t worry. Ms. Sullivan’s two friends are good to her. They’re comforting her now.” Bard quickly said.

Charlie nodded slowly, “Give Shawn the best room and handle the rest as I said over the phone.”

Bard assured him, “Don’t worry, Mr. James. I’ll arrange everything.”

“Alright, go ahead. Don’t mention me to Emily.’ Charlie ordered.

Bard responded, “I understand!”

After bidding Charlie goodbye, Bard entered the hospital. Seeing Charlie’s car still parked there, he realized that it

might have been there all along.

Two hours later, Shawn was wheeled out of the operating room, still unconscious.

The doctor informed Emily that Shawn’s life was no longer in danger, but his left leq was seriously injured. They

managed to avoid amputation, but it was likely that he would not be able to walk again.

Emily’s face turned pale as she choked back tears, “Thank you, doctor.”

Once everything was settled in the ward, Bard told Emily, “We will arrange for a nursing worker to look after Shawn.

Go home and when Shawn wakes up, we will tell you immediately.”

Emily made her stance clear, “Once the legal assessment of your company’s losses is complete, I will not shirk my

responsibilities. Even if I can’t pay now, I will eventually repay the debt.”
