Chapter 413

Judson needed Maja to put in a good word for him with lan, so he agreed on the spot.

“Alright, I’ll have my people in the business department check out the Neilian Group. If their paint

quality is up to scratch, we can keep the partnership going this year.”

For a big corporation like Silverstone Enterprises, a long–term collaboration with the Pennyfeather

group would mean they wouldn’t go into the red, even without new orders for most of the year.

Maja sighed in relief, raising her glass.

‘Mr. Judson, don’t sweat it. I’ll do my best to help you with Mr. Raymond.”

Judson immediately broke into a happy smile.

“Penny, I owe you big time. Because of you, I could work with Mr. Raymond and score the Crystalbrook

Valley project.”

They clinked glasses and had a few words with Nathan in between.

After dinner, Maja had Nathan see Judson off. Judson seemed to be in high spirits tonight, a little tipsy.

“Penny, what about you? Nathan helped Judson up.

Maja was still sitting, “Someone’s picking me up. You go ahead and take care of Mr. Judson.”

After all, he was her client for the next half year.

Nathan left, supporting Judson.

Maja’s conversation with Judson had been pleasant. She drank two glasses of wine and while she

wasn’t drunk, her face flushed a bit. She grabbed her purse next to her, planning to freshen up in the

restroom at the end of the hallway before leaving.

She was pretty chuffed about landing a deal on her first day on the job, even if it meant taking

advantage of lan. Rounding a corner, she saw a man stepping out of a private room, phone in hand,

dressed in a classy black suit.

Maja halted, then stopped.

“Mr. Raymond?”

Ian had closed the door to the private room, where several company execs were discussing

partnerships.

Hearing her voice, he looked up to see a different Maja.

Maja smiled at him, “You’re dining here too?”

lan held his phone between his fingers, responding with a nonchalant “yeah“.

Maja nodded, “I won’t bother you then.”

She headed to the restroom.

The restroom of the upscale restaurant was lavishly decorated and cleaned every few hours. As she

was about to wash her face, she saw lan’s face reflected in the mirror.

He stood by the door, asking, “Why’d you cut your hair?”

“Long hair isn’t minimalist enough.”

Her suit today was stunning, sharp, and simple.

This was the first time lan saw her like this. He didn’t even recognize her when she called him just now.

Maja splashed water on her face, vaguely hearing the restroom door close.

Opening her eyes, she saw lan standing behind her.

“You do look very minimalist.”

Maja felt a bit awkward. For some reason, whenever lan showed up, the air seemed to become thinner.

His presence was too strong.

Water droplets slid down her cheeks, sobering her up.

The restaurant’s design only allowed two private rooms per floor, and they needed to be booked in

advance. So, it was rarely packed, and the hallway was usually empty.

The entire space was very quiet.

lan watched her. She had a formal attire; the pants made her legs look longer. Her cheeks flushed,

probably from the drinks, and her lashes were wet from the water

Her hair was shorter, less soft, and definitely more minimalist.

This serious look was a stark contrast to the crying, pleading woman he saw in bed.

His Adam’s apple bobbed, he abruptly picked her up, aiming to place her on the counter next to the

sink.

Maja started resisting and struggling.

lan held her, narrowly avoiding a punch to his face.

He heard her whisper, “This place is dirty.”

She found it strange. What happened to his cleanliness?

She added, “You said you’d give me a week off.”

The implication was, how could he go back on his word?
