Chapter 1012
Maria watched as the doctor, with a surprisingly deft hand, started to administer an IV to Maja, allowing her to
breathe a sigh of relief.
The young doctor continued to speak.
“Has she been overly stressed lately? Make sure she eats well, and her stomach condition can’t be neglected any
longer. It needs to be taken care of.”” His fingers gently brushed the sweat from Maja’s forehead, lingering there
momentarily.
“She should be fever–free in about an hour. Have the kitchen prepare something stomach–friendly for her. She
hasn’t eaten in two days.”
Maria felt a bit perplexed, thinking the doctor’s demeanor was unusually intimate, but upon closer inspection, she
couldn’t find anything amiss.
She pointed to the security camera in the hallway.
“Doctor, since this is your first time here, be aware that we have surveillance cameras. It’s monitored 24/7”
What she implied was that if he tried to pull anything on Maja while she was gone, he wouldn’t be leaving Rosewood
Manor tonight.

“I won’t ruin a friend’s reputation.”
Maria found his voice incredibly soothing and gentle. With a bit of worry still lingering, she headed downstairs.
She usually preferred to make the soup for Maja personally but decided to leave two maids outside Maja’s room for
safety.
“If this new doctor tries anything, shout. I’ll send the security guys up.”
Everyone at Rosewood Manor was loyal to Maja, having been employed by Holden. They were all very thorough and
caring. The maids nodded and quickly headed upstairs.
The young doctor sat by Maja’s bedside, silently watching her.
He wanted to brush the hair from her face several times but feared it would cross a boundary and make her
uncomfortable.
She had someone she liked now and had made up her mind. He was the one who had missed their appointment. It
was all his fault, so he shouldn’t disturb her anymore.
But the other side of him was rebellious and hard to control. If he wasn’t careful, he might hurt her..
He couldn’t risk destroying the happiness she had fought so hard for, and he had to watch over her.
An hour later, Maja woke up.
Relieved at the sight of her familiar ceiling, she turned her head to find a familiar voice nearby. “Awake?”
Maja stiffened, struggling to sit up in disbelief. Patric, what was he doing here?
She opened her mouth to shout, but he swiftly covered it with his hand.
“Maja, I can’t disrupt his plans too much, or else it might trigger a backlash. Tell me, where is the little object?”
The “little object” referred to a tiny chip.
Maja, her mouth covered, had a surprise and a deep–seated caution in her eyes.
She wished she could bite him.
Eric remained silent, studying her expressions before sighing.
“I have my
reasons.“”
Despite his explanation, Maja bit down on his finger.
Eric didn’t resist or cry out, watching as a piece of his flesh was bitten off, and blood trickled down her chin.
Frowning, he took a tissue from the side table and wiped her mouth.
“It’s dirty, let me clean that.”
Maja, her throat too sore to speak, pointed towards her wardrobe.
Eric rose, opened the wardrobe, and immediately spotted the small box.

The chip was attached to one of the pages.
With the chip in his hands, Eric looked at her weakened condition, a pang of sadness crossing his eyes.
“You and lan?”
Upon hearing him say these words, Maja’s eyes hardened, staring at him warily.
Blood from Eric’s finger splattered on the notebook as he laughed lightly. “Take care, I’m leaving now.”
Maja didn’t look at him, knowing her current weak state and his ability to infiltrate Rosewood Manor meant he was
quite capable.
If she continued to provoke him, she didn’t know what would happen to her.
Eric stood up, looking at her thin face, and the fists clenched under the blanket, knowing she must be hurting.
Maja, there are things I can’t tell you. If you and lan truly love each other, you will end up together. I wish you well
with all that I have.”
Maja covered her ears, clearly refusing to listen any further.
Eric’s hand hovered over her head, wanting to comfort her like he used to.
But he knew she didn’t need it anymore.
With a bitter smile, he left.
