Chapter 240 "Then why are you—" "Because when winter comes," William turned his head to look at Serena, "spring is just around the corner. Just like you-after this long winter of heartbreak, spring will cfor you too." Serena managed a small smile.
"Why do you keep encouragingto move on?" William stiffened slightly. "Do I?" "This isn't the first tyou've said something like that," Serena's eyes lost a bit of their warmth. "Honestly, I don't have the slightest interest in love right now." William's gaze sharpened, but then he forced a smile. "That's fine. You're still young-plenty of tto explore the world." But his fingers curled slowly into a fist at his side.
When Serena got home, she found a message from her old college class president.
After graduation, she'd cut ties with everyone from her class. She hadn't expected to ever hear from any of them again.
She opened the message to find two screenshots attached.
They were of Cynthia Lynwood and Aaron's social media profiles.
The two of them had matching profile pictures-a clear sign.
Serena smiled faintly.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe remembered once wanting to use matching profile pictures with Aaron too, back when they were together.
But Aaron had brushed it off, saying it was too much trouble.
So they never did.
Looking at it now, she realized-it hadn't been about trouble.
It just hadn't been about her.
Ding-dong- Another message popped up from the class president: [Serena, I saw Mr. Vance changed his profile pic to match someone's, so I asked him about it. He said it was his girlfriend's idea. Uh... did you change your usernor something?] Serena glanced at the message.
Just from the words, she couldn't tell what this old classmate really wanted after years of silence.
But- Aaron's life had nothing to do with her anymore.
She blocked the class president's number without hesitation.
Then, she headed to the bathroom to wash up and get ready for bed.
The next morning, Serena's phone rang.
"Serena! Serena! The show's a total hit! The network wants us to strike while the iron's hot and shoot the next episode ASAP. Hurry over-we need to prep for episode two!" Abby's voice was nearly breathless with excitement.
"On my way," Serena replied.
Director Thomas had made things easy for her; all she had to do was say the word if she needed to film, no advance notice required.
She shot Director Thomas a quick text and headed for the studio.
But as soon as she stepped out of the car, she saw that the entrance to the building was completely blocked by a dense crowd.
She frowned in confusion, just as a wave of shrieks and gasps erupted from the crowd.
"Oh my god, he's gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous!"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSerena narrowed her eyes and realized that the mob wasn't blocking the stuentrance, but a gleaming Rolls-Royce parked out front. And stepping out of that car-Aaron.
He held a bouquet of fiery red roses in his hands.
Even surrounded by all that color, his features were cool and distant.
After the initial excitement, the crowd seemed cowed by his icy presence, shrinking back and stepping aside to clear a path.
So when Aaron lifted his eyes, he spotted Serena standing a short distance away.
His eyebrows shot up in surprise.
Then, without hesitating he started walking toward her. The crowd held their breath, watching.
"Wait, isn't that... isn't that the girl who went viral online a few days ago?" "It's her! It's totally her! Oh my god, I can't believe I'm seeing her in real life!"
"So that super-handsguy with the roses-he's her boyfriend? They look so good together, like they could En be married!" Serena watched Aaron draw closer, her brow knitting in unease.
