Both grandmothers immediately showed concern. “Are you okay? Did you catch a cold?”
Maggie wiped her nose with a tissue and said, “Maybe.”
She might have caught a cold last night, but it hadn't been obvious until now.
Maggie's grandmother and Grandma Wilson had been friends for many years.
However, neither of them mentioned the events that had occurred at her birthday banquet
or the issues involving Franklin and Julia. They just continued chatting happily.
After sitting for a while, Maggie received a call from Jessica, who told her that she had run into Franklin and the
Brown family again.
Jessica said, “I can’t believe | keep running into this kind of thing! | don’t want to deal with
it!”
Then she asked where Maggie was.
Maggie replied, “At my grandmother's place.”
“Did you go back alone?”
“With Isabella and Grandma Wilson.”
Jessica immediately understood: “So, Franklin didn’t cback with you, but went over to have dinner with the
Brown family?”
Maggie didn’t say anything.
After hanging up, Maggie sneezed again.
Maggie's aunt, Harry, was worried that she might be coming down with something, so she made her a bowl of
ginger soup. After drinking it, Maggie felt her head get heavier and,

soon after, fell asleep.
When she woke up, she realized she had a high fever, and her head was spinning.
Isabella approached her, looking somewhat concerned. “Mom, are you sick?”

Maggie: “Mm.”
Grandma Wilson was also very worried and wanted to take her back to the Wilson family so that the family’s
regular doctor could check on her, saying that the old doctor would help her recover quickly.
Maggie's grandmother felt that her sudden illness wasn’t something that should be delayed, so she insisted that
Maggie go back to the old Wilson family hfor the doctor to see her.
Back at the old house, after the old doctor cand examined her, he prescribed smedicine, and after
Maggie drank a bowl of it, she went upstairs and fell asleep again.
When she woke up later, she felt much better, her head no longer felt as heavy.
She opened her eyes and saw that the small lamp beside her was still on.
Looking over, she saw Franklin sitting there, reading a book.
She paused for a moment.
Only then did she realize that she was in the old house, in Franklin's room.
This was the place where he had grown up.
Perhaps he heard smovement, and Franklin turned to look at her. “You're awake?”
Maggie felt her throat was a bit uncomfortable and wasn’t in the mood to talk.
She didn’t respond.
She grabbed a coat beside her, put it on, and was about to get out of bed, but Franklin walked over and handed
her a cup of water.

Maggie paused. After two seconds, she took it, but didn’t say thank you.
Franklin didn’t say anything either. He reached out to touch her forehead, but Maggie, feeling heavy-headed,
reacted quickly and avoided his hand.
Franklin looked at her for a moment, then retracted his hand and stood up.
“Mr. Stanley is still downstairs. I'll have him cup to check on you.”
Without waiting for her to speak, he left the room.
A few minutes later, Stanley, Grandma Wilson, Franklin, and Isabella all entered the room.
Stanley examined Maggie and said she was already feeling much better, but she still needed to continue taking
the medicine.
He said she was physically weak and had semotional stagnation, so it was easy for her to fall ill when she
caught a cold. She needed to take better care of her health.
Maggie nodded.
Grandma Wilson asked again, “Maggie, are you hungry?”
She hadn’t eaten much at lunch due to her discomfort and had gone to sleep afterward.
Now, it was already close to evening, and she was indeed hungry, but didn’t have much of an appetite.
But Grandma Wilson insisted she eat something, so she instructed Franklin to go downstairs and bring up food
for Maggie.
Franklin turned and left the room.
After a while, he returned with the food.
Grandma Wilson and the elderly left the room.
Franklin, however, did not leave. He sat beside her as she ate, continuing to read his book.

Franklin leaned on his hand and looked at her, saying, “After all these years, you still can’t

Maggie turned her face away.
Franklin sighed, saying, “Fine, | won't be mad at you. Eat something.”

In the divorce agreement, she had explicitly stated that she didn’t want anything.
There was no mention of property division or custody of Isabella. She thought he would notify her to pick up the
divorce certificate soon.
But since she left the divorce agreement and returned to the country, it’s been about three months, and he still
hasn’t taken any action.
Thinking of this, Maggie raised her head and was about to ask him about it when there was
a knock at the door.
