Nadine wasn't a fool. Why would she listen to him?
Knowing that Brad was probably up to no good, she quickened her pace instead of stopping. She
ran as if a monster was chasing after her.
Brad was infuriated. Watching her disappear out of his sight in an instant, he gritted out, "Just you
wait, you damned woman!"
In fact, Nadine couldn't be bothered with him if he hadn't saved her. Now that she had returned his
favor, she no longer owed it to him. Why should she stay for him to boss her around instead?
Soon, she disappeared out of Brad's sight. He was fuming, yet he couldn't do anything to her.
He appeared to be terrifying with his imposing and murderous stance, but the nurse who had

your house? Go somewhere else if you want to cause a scene!"
Brad had never felt this wronged. Glowering at the nurse, he snorted and left promptly. Nadine dashed right back
to her office. Realizing that Brad hadn't gone after her, she was relieved.
She glanced at Tyler's empty desk and muttered that he deserved it under her breath, and then she began
working. She was in charge of the wards in the cardiology department, and most of the patients were elderly.
Many of them not only had cardiovascular diseases but also other chronic conditions. To better understand each
patient, Nadine usually spent her free treviewing their medical histories.
One of the patients, who was an elderly lady, had diabetes in addition to a heart condition. She needed insulin
before meals. Since her vision had deteriorated due to old age, Nadine would usually help her with the insulin
shots.
As Nadine's shift was coming to an end, she planned to pick up Sean after giving the old lady her insulin shot.
But as soon as she entered the ward, she bumped into someone.
Rashly, the person began hollering, "Who are you? Watch where you're going! It hurts-it's like you broke my
bones! Pay up!"
A jolt of pain shot through Nadine's chest. It took a moment for the pain to subside before she could catch her
breath. She glanced at the person who had bumped into her.
The girl was around 18 or 19 years old. She had purple hair in a punk style, with most of her face obscured by
her hair. She was glowering at Nadine, disdain palpable in her eyes.
Nadine frowned. Sensing that she might be a troublemaker, she said, "Miss, you clearly didn't watch where you
were going and bumped into me. Why are you blamingnow?"

She was about to finish her shift and pick up Sean, so she didn't want to waste targuing with the girl. She
merely wanted to make it clear that it wasn't her fault and that the girl should be more careful next time.
Yet, the girl was clearly on a different page. Not only did she not apologize, but she also glared at
Nadine and snapped, "Seriously, old hag? You clearly bumped into me!
"Also, this corridor doesn't belong to you. Why are you making a fuss? You'd better not pissoff!
I'm not someone you want to mess with!"
The girl was young, but she resembled a thug. Despite clearly being at fault, she acted like she was
in the right.
Nadine hadn't intended to argue with the girl, but the girl's impudence and her attempt to shift the
blirritated her. She wasn't much older than the girl, yet the girl dared to call her an "old hag".
Anyone would be upset if this happened to them!
