Chapter 853 The sound of "triple kill" rang out and Ashlyn quickly looked down at her phone. "Oh my god, I'm dead! They got a triple kill on the other side!" Just as she was talking to Mrs. Ritter, inhibitor was about to be destroyed by the other team.
Mrs. Ritter saw that Ashlyn was only playing with her phone and couldn't help but feel frustrated. "Can't you do something productive? Why do you only know how to play?" Ashlyn's joy at sharing her excitement instantly plummeted.
"Oh mom, just wait a minute." Ashlyn frantically tried to operate her phone but it was too late. She looked at the big letters on the screen that read ‘Defeat’ and felt depressed. "I lost." She looked at Mrs. Ritter with a mournful expression on her face and asked, "What happened exactly?" "Your uncle knows his position is thanks to our family, so when | spoke up, he took care of it right away," Mrs. Ritter put on a smile again, full of joy in anticipation of what would happen next. "Just wait and see, that woman's movie won't make it for sure! Let's see how she explains herself to those investors.” "So fast?" Ashlyn threw her phone aside and widened her eyes as she looked at Mrs. Ritter incredulously, "Mommy, your brother- in-law is really efficient!" "He is," said Mrs. Ritter glancing over at the TV with disdain in her eyes, "If it wasn't for him marrying your auntie, he wouldn't be where he is today! He owes everything he has now to our Ritter family! If he doesn't listen, there will be consequences waiting for him." She had no respect whatsoever for Abdullah who came from the Mcguire family's sideline branch without any foundation or connections.
Mr. Mcguire didn't even bother acknowledging him; they didn't consider him important enough.
If it weren't for the Ritter family, then where would Abdullah be today? They were his adoptive parents in every sense of the word.
Not only did Ashlyn think this way but also Kinley Ritter - Abdullah's wife thought so too.
At this moment inside Abdullah's house, Kinley gave him an angry glare as soon as he walked through the door, looking unhappy about something or someone.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAbdullah frowned, trying hard not show his disgust or annoyance; putting up a forced smile on his face instead. "Sweetheart, what happened? Who made you unhappy?" Kinley pouted unhappily, giving Abdullah an icy cold shoulder without uttering another word. Abdullah felt even more uncomfortable than before. Why did this woman always seem to have a problem every day? Couldn't she just remain calm for days? He never found peace when returning home from work daily.
The more Abdullah dwelled on it, the angrier he became. He tirelessly worked outside, dealing with work-related social events and maintaining a pleasant demeanor for his superiors while giving instructions to his subordinates. Yet, Kinley never offered a single word of gentle comfort; instead, she displayed this kind of attitude every day.
He really wanted to slap her.
But when he thought about the Ritter family behind her, Abdullah held back.
He patiently walked over to Kinley's side and placed his hands on her shoulders with a flash of disgust in his eyes.
"Honey, what's wrong? Did the servants bully you while | was away? Or did something happen with my sister-in-law that upset you?" "You still know how to come back?" Kinley was very aggressive as soon as she spoke. She pointed at the clock on the wall angrily. "Look at what time it is! It's already eleven o'clock! Are you trying to rebel? Is being just a team leader so busy that you can't even come home?" Abdullah was fuming with anger. Wasn't it just coming back late? Was it necessary to be mad at him? After all this fussing around, they still had something else they wanted him for! He gritted his teeth and pulled out a bottle of perfume from his pocket. "Honey, this is new perfume line; | bought it for you as an apology. | drank too much with some producers tonight.” "They're all bosses; eating together is just building connections or else | wouldn't waste my time eating and drinking with them in the middle of the night!" Looking at that bottle of perfume made Kinley's face look even worse."Don't think one bottle will buy me off." She took the perfume and smelled it before frowning suddenly. "Why did you buy perfume? How do you know this is new? Which woman told you?" Abdullah became even more irritated but still patiently explained, "Honey, don't be so suspicious okay? If | really wanted another woman or mistress, then | would have found one long ago. | heard some female subordinates discussing new perfumes or something like that, and then quickly bought one for you." He pretended to gently hold Kinley's hand before sitting down in front of the sofa, "Honey, if other women have something, | must make sure my wife has them too." "It's just a bottle of perfume, right?" Kinley liked hearing these sweet nothings. She shyly lowered her head while playing with that bottle, and also eased up, "Okay then, I'll accept your gift." "Honey, are you still angry?" Abdullah gently kissed her cheek. "Don't be angry, it'll give you wrinkles." Kinley smiled awkwardly. "Okay, let's go back to our room and rest." "Let's go!" Abdullah immediately hugged her and walked towards their room.
Late at night, Kinley had fallen asleep when Abdullah softly called out to her a few times. She continued to breathe evenly as he grabbed his phone without bothering to put on slippers and quietly slipped out of the room.
He went downstairs to the bathroom and opened up Facebook video chat.
The call was quickly answered by a young woman with a delicate face who spoke in a coquettish tone. "Honey, why aren't you sleeping yet?" Abdullah chuckled softly in an affectionate tone. "Did our baby kick you?" The woman pouted. "Hmph! You only care about the baby but not me!" "| care about both of you." Abdullah laughed again with some wrinkles forming around his eyes. "I'll come see both of you tomorrow." The woman moved the camera down towards her small belly which had already begun to show signs of pregnancy at four or five months along. Despite being spoiled by him, she understood that she only won his favor because Kinley couldn't conceive.
Abdullah desperately wanted a son but unfortunately Kinley was already in her forties and unable to bear children anymore; how could he bear ending his family line? Now that his mistress had given birth, he was overjoyed and stayed with his mistress until late into night before reluctantly returning home.
"Honey, I'm so lonely and bored all alone!" The woman pouted with red lips while tears welled up in her eyes."Our baby is also lonely too; he wants daddy here with us." "It's okay, honey," Abdullah whispered softly,"I'll come tomorrow... Be good okay? You know what kind of person she is." "Okay..." The woman looked pitiful as if begging for mercy which made Abdullah feel heartbroken inside, "Alright then, I'm hanging up now." After ending the call, Abdullah quietly opened the bathroom door and checked that everything was still quiet in the living room.
He finally pressed the flush button on the toilet and walked upstairs to his bedroom as if nothing had happened.
The next day, most of the snow had melted, leaving wet patches everywhere. The sunlight reflected faintly on these puddles of water.
Kinley was getting ready to attend a wedding banquet held by Mrs. Lee's family. Kinley often played cards with her. She didn't really want to go because Mrs. Lee owned a taxi company and she looked down upon it.
But she heard that Mrs. Lee hadn't planned on inviting her in the first place because they weren't in the same circle, and Kinley thought that Mrs. Lee had some self-awareness after all.
However, for some reason later on, Mrs. Lee personally came over to invite her and brought along some candy and gifts as well.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAlthough Kinley looked down upon Mrs. Lee, she couldn't deny that it was worth going since there were gifts involved.
She reluctantly went just to show support for Mrs. Lee.
Kinley wore a dark red dress which wasn't too flashy since it was someone else's happy occasion; one couldn't wear something too bright or too plain white either.
She knew this etiquette well enough.
Mrs. Lee's daughter was getting married at an early age in her early twenties.
As Kinley thought about this fact, her car stopped at the hotel door. She told the driver,"You don't have to wait for me. I'll call you when I'm done.” Saying so, she grabbed her purse and walked towards inside of hotel.
As Kinley neared the entrance of the hotel, she accidentally bumped into a delicate-looking pregnant woman. The pregnant woman was dressed in high-end maternity clothes and carried a bag identical to Kinley's.
Kinley was taken aback when she saw the bag. It was an evening bag, a limited edition item that costed around 20-30 thousand.
Due to its rarity, it was not easy to come by. Abdullah managed to obtain one through his connections. The bag was small in size but could hold quite a few things. Kinley really liked it. However, Mrs. Lee had invited guests from modest backgrounds who were not well-known publicly. How was it possible for someone else to be carrying such an expensive bag like hers? Kinley couldn't help but take another glance at the pregnant woman. The pregnant woman continued walking forward without noticing her. Kinley followed closely behind, and there was a faintly familiar fragrance lingering in the air. Kinley froze once again.
This fragrance was exactly the same as the one she was wearing. Wasn't this coincidence a bit too much? Being sensitive, Kinley paid even more attention to the pregnant woman. As they entered the hotel, the lobby was adorned with joyful colors, clearly indicating that it was a wedding celebration.
Kinley looked down on Mrs. Lee's taste while sizing up the pregnant woman who went straight to her family's table.
"Is she Mrs. Lee's relative?" Kinley thought to herself as she walked towards Mrs. Lee. Upon seeing her, Mrs. Lee greeted her warmly, "Mrs. Mcguire! You're here! Please have a seat.” Coincidentally or not, Mrs. Lee arranged for Kinley to sit next to the pregnant woman at their table.
