Chapter 1315
Quincy felt utterly defeated. He and Lydia had genuinely loved each other and had both invested in their
relationship. How did he end up being compared to a total simp?
"Lydia never did anything to betray me. If anyone was in the wrong, it was me. But Mom, drugging your own
son? That's something only you could do." Quincy turned and looked at his mother, lying there in the hospital
bed. The bitterness and frustration in his heart were almost overwhelming. He still couldn't cto terms with
the fact that his own mother had drugged him.
But she was sick, and as her son, he couldn't just bring up old grievances or walk away while she lay there
unwell. So, he buried everything deep down, though it made him feel suffocated.
Mabel hadn't heard about the drugging incident. She glanced at Mrs. Perez, clearly shocked. When they had
asked for her help, they hadn't mentioned that little detail.

Mrs. Perez started to cough violently. Tiffany quickly stepped forward, gently patting her back. "Mrs. Perez, the
doctors said you need to avoid getting worked up. You should really try to rest."
"Tiffany, you're seeing this yourself. I'm just lying here, doing nothing, but speople are determined to upset
me," Mrs. Perez muttered, keeping her eyes locked on Quincy, making it obvious who she was referring to.
Quincy couldn't take it anymore. "Alright, Mom, if my being here is making you upset, then maybe | should just
leave. That way, you can focus on getting better." He was fed up, and he feared what he might do or say if he
stayed any longer.
"Fine, leave. And don't bother
coming back," she replied, her voice
breaking as her eyes welled up with tears. "I raised you, Quincy. | gave everything for you, and now that old and
sick, I'm nothing but a
burden. Go on, live your life however you please. Don't worry about
me.
Even if | die, | won't bother you. | should've never been a teacher. How could | teach others when | failed with my
own son? You've forgotten
the most basic filial piety."
Her words were heavy with guilt, laced with emotional blackmail. Even Mabel, who had been trying to support
her, couldn't help but feel uncomfortable with the manipulation.
It was almost enough to make her side with Quincy, but she remembered the hefty sum she had received and
the things she disliked about Lydia.

So, she forced herself to keep going. "Quincy, just let it go. Don't argue with someone who's sick. Just do what
she wants, at least until she's well enough to handle all this."
Quincy's eyes began to mist. He had
always tried to prove himself, to show Lydia's parents that he could provide for her, that he could give her the
life she deserved. But while he could earn money and buy Lydia the things she wanted, he couldn't change his
mother's attitude.
"Fine, go if you want. Mabel call the way from the neighboring state to see me. should at least show
sappreciation. Why don't youet

go out with Tiffany and pick something up for her?" Mrs. Perez had cup with yet another attempt to push
him and Tiffany together.
She added, "After all, Tiffany and her are close in age, and they're both young women. They probably like the
sthings, so it makes sense for you to take her along."
