First Love 70

Chapter 70

"Mr. Bamford, about that event you mentioned..."

"Don't even think about it!"

Dexter stood up abruptly, ready to storm out, leaving Angela staring at his retreating figure.

He was furious.

Initially, he thought that Angela would feel angry or disappointed because he had

comforted Elena. However, to his surprise, Angela was only focused on the benefits he could bring to her.

Did she really think of Dawn Star Design to be that important?

What a joke!

He'd rather invite any no-ndesign company to the event before allowing anyone from DawnStar to set foot

into Bamford Co.!

Angela's smile faded, and her expression darkened instantly.

“Just so that you know, you're staying at my place for free, living off of me, and even letting others cin here

to stir up trouble-and | haven't said a word about it," Angela retorted.

Dexter stopped in his tracks and sneered coldly. "Then enlighten me. How much is that so-called antique crystal

vase of yours actually worth?"

"Ten thousand dollars," Angela blurted out.

As soon as the words left her mouth, she realized she had made a mistake. Regret quickly settled in.

She had indeed auctioned an antique crystal vase while she was abroad, it was the exact one she had registered

in the inventory listing.

Unfortunately, she had accidentally broken it. To replace it, she found a similar one online for around ten

thousand dollars.

"There you go! You extorted 300 thousand dollars from them!" Dexter shot her a cold glare as he turned back

around and sank into the couch. Unfortunately, he accidentally tugged at his wound, causing him to gasp in pain.

Angela was quick to notice and hurried to fetch the first aid kit.

The kit was left behind by Dexter's doctor before he left-it contained all the necessary medications.

"Calm down, Mr. Bamford. If you really think that I've wronged your 'close female friend’,

| can always find a way to return the money to her another time. Don't worry,” Angela said, squatting beside him

to help him with his bandages.

To her surprise, his displeasure deepened. He stared at her intently, as if trying to detect any signs of a lie.

But there was none.

At that moment, Angela's eyes showed nothing but flattery, with no genuine emotions attached.

Dexter couldn't help but feel a sense of helplessness and frustration.

After a long silence, he simply said, “I don't have such a ‘close female friend.””

Angela waved her hand dismissively. “That's not the point. The point is, if you care about her and don't want

to upset her, | can always suck it up and apologize to her."

All she could think about right now was how to benefit her team-she had no tfor emotional entanglements.

Dexter turned around to face her. He stared fixedly at her with an indifferent expression.

Angela couldn't help but feel uneasy under his piercing gaze.

"What's wrong? Did | say anything wrong? I'm sorry, | promise I'll change.”

She had reached a point where she was willing to put aside her pride to gain his favor.

"Letmake myself clear." Dexter suddenly gripped her shoulders firmly. "As long as you work in DawnStar

Design, it will never happen.”

Angela was a little confused-she couldn't figure out if he disliked DawnStar Design or if it was about something

personal.

Either way, one thing was clear—he was firm in his decision.

She sighed inwardly.

“Fine,” she replied, regaining her composure. She took a glance at her watch and added, ” I'll be returning to my

office now."

Dexter, on the other hand, squeezed his eyes shut tightly, trying his best to suppress the

anger.

Just then, a sharp pain shot through his wound.

He realized that the force he had used when gripping Angela's shoulders had caused the wound to reopen. The

pain was sharp and searing.

He opened his eyes abruptly, just in tto catch Angela's retreating figure as she walked away decisively.

Chapter 70

Her posture was tall and graceful, a stark contrast to the meek and fragile woman he once remembered. She

showed no signs of turning back to check on him or help him with his bandages.

Dexter stared at her retreating form until it completely disappeared from his sight. His gaze was deeply

conflicted.

When Angela finally made it back to the office, she was still recalling the incident from earlier.

The thought of Dexter's cold expression instantly made her blood boil.

He could be so gentle when it cto Elena, but with her-never.

"Ms. Graham, there's been an issue.” Clara rushed over and whispered something in her

ear.
