Chapter 294 Clara froze for a moment. She looked at Alexander and smiled softly.
Wren, who had just stepped out of the car, caught that smile. He froze, staring at the warmth in her expression. A wave of jealousy crashed over him, tightening in his chest.
He couldn't even remember the last tClara had smiled at him like that. He never expected that one day, he would feel jealous just because Clara smiled at another man.
He didn't dare think about whether he would completely lose his mind if Clara ever chose someone else. All he knew was he would never be able to accept that outcome.

He immediately straightened his posture, and when Clara smiled at him, he nervously pressed his lips together. Only his reddening ears gave away his flustered emotions.
Just as he was about to greet her, Clara lowered her head.
The warmth in Alexander's gaze faded slightly as he noticed the scarf Clara was wearing. It wasn't the one he had given her.
His heart skipped a beat, and a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes.
Clara didn't notice any of this. Just as she bent down to grab something from the car and was about to open the trunk, a hand reached toward her.
"I'll get the things from the trunk. Go open the door first," Wren said, holding the keys out to her.
"Okay," Clara replied, taking the keys and walking to the door.
Wren went to the trunk and took her things out. As Clara unlocked the gate, his gaze flickered.
Clara didn't notice anything unusual behind her. She pulled out the key, pushed open the courtyard gate, and stepped inside.

Inside the yard was a pink Mercedes.
"Do you like it?" Wren asked, catching up to her with an expectant look. "I specifically picked it out for you. It wasn't too expensive. Since you are living here alone, I figured a pricier car might cause trouble, so I went with this one." Clara's gaze shifted from the car to Wren's face. She shook her head. "I can't accept it. Get someone to drive it away. I don't care how you deal with it, but I don't want it."
Wren's smile faded, replaced by a frown. Frustration and hurt flashed across his face. "It's just a car Why are you being so distant withnow? You weren't like this before, Clara. You used to telleverything, but now, you'd rather suffer in silence than askfor help."
He paused for a moment before asking, "Do you know how I feelwatching you ride that old electric bike to work in this freezing cold? You've never had to endure that k kind of hardship before, and you're so sensitive to the cold.
"With a car, you wouldn't have to freeze on your way to work. I'd feel a om lot better knowing you'd be more comfortable. Besides, it'd make getting around a lot easier, wouldn't it?" By the end of his sentence, Wren's tone carried a hint of coaxing, and his gaze was filled with concern.
He still remembered the first the saw Clara, riding her bike to work in the bitter winter cold. Her hands were bright red from the freezing air.
Clara had always been the princess he had cherished since childhood. He couldn't even bring himself to let her wash a single dish back then.
