Chapter 990: I Don't Trust Others to Examine Tina's Body That night, Tina had a nightmare.

In her dream, Claudia was desperately trying to kill her. At the critical moment, Uncle shielded her from a fatal blow, collapsing lifelessly in front of her eyes. She went mad trying to save him, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't wake him.

The scene was so vivid that Tina felt a crushing pain in her chest, as if her heart had stopped beating. She wanted to call for help, but her voice wouldn't cout.

When she woke up, the suffocating pain from the dream lingered, unbearably real. Clutching her chest, Tina couldn't speak.

Jared noticed immediately that something was wrong. He sat up, turned on the light, and saw Tina's pale face.

"Tina!" He quickly pulled her into his arms, patting her back gently. After a few moments, Tina finally managed to catch her breath.

"Uncle, I'm fine. It was just a bad dream." Jared got up, poured her a glass of water, and wiped the cold sweat off her face. "What could've caused such a nightmare? Have you been overthinking things lately?" Tina shook her head, still trying to steady herself.

Since coming down from the mountain, she had occasionally dreamed of her childhood with her mother but had never experienced anything like this-pain that carried from the dream into reality. It was unsettling, impossible to ignore.

Jared frowned deeply, the lingering fear evident in his expression. He got up to leave. His worry ran so deep that he forgot to correct himself when speaking. "I'll call Master and have her cover." Tina grabbed his arm, her voice tinged with exasperation. "Uncle, it's the middle of the night. Mom is still sleeping." Jared hesitated, then suggested, "Fine, I'll call Master Tam to ctake a look at you." Tina sighed. "Master Tam has gone back to Serenity Ridge this time..." Jared froze, considering who else could help.

Tina let out a soft sigh, her tone light. "Uncle, chere and hold me. Watching you pace around is makingdizzy." Jared walked over and pulled her tightly into his arms, his body tense. "I'm taking you to the hospital." Inhaling the familiar scent of Jared, Tina felt her nerves steady. "It's just a nightmare. I'll be fine after srest." Before long, Tina fell asleep in Jared's arms.

But Jared stayed awake the entire night, holding her until dawn.

The next morning, Jared packed their things and waited for Tina to wake up.

After the restless night, she slept until almost noon. When she opened her eyes, she saw Jared sitting by the bedside, his bloodshot eyes fixed on her.

Startled, she rubbed her forehead and asked, "Uncle, what are you doing?" Jared gently helped her up. "Get dressed. We're going to the hospital for a full check-up." Confused, Tina blinked. "What check-up?" Jared stroked her head and spoke calmly. "I'm not at ease after what happened last night. A check-up will put my mind at rest." Realizing what he meant, Tina sighed helplessly and explained, "Uncle, it was just a nightmare. I'm really fine. Don't you remember? I'm a doctor myself. If something were wrong, I'd know it." Jared insisted. "Doctors can't treat themselves. You should know that better than I do." Unable to argue with him, Tina let him help her out of bed and get dressed. They headed to the hospital.

After a round of check-ups, Jared went to the office to pick up the results while Tina bought breakfast and sat on a bench to eat. She had left the house too early and hadn't gotten to enjoy the breakfast Jared usually made for her.

Just then, Jayden called.

Tina answered, "Young Master, did you get the information I asked for?" "Yes," Jayden replied. "The Reed family has indeed been investigated recently." "Who was it?" Tina asked.

"A man named Ethan Chase. He's Nancy's ex-husband. They divorced three years ago. He's been tracing her movements to find her." Tina took a bite of her bun. "What about the person I asked you to investigate?" "Nancy picked up her child from the Chase family ten days ago. She traveled from Clearwater, passed through Ensford, and learned the Reed family had moved to the capital, so she followed. There were no suspicious individuals in her vicinity, and she doesn't seem aware that she's being monitored." Tina narrowed her eyes. "Keep an eye on Ethan Chase. Find out his intentions." For now, Nancy's suspicions seemed to be cleared.

After the call ended, Tina dialed Hayden.

On the other end, Hayden was still half-asleep, mumbling into his phone, "Serena, what are you doing callingthis early?" Tina got straight to the point. "There's a child in the Reed family who needs emotional support. You'll handle it. Also, protect Hugo's family in secret." Hayden, still groggy, thought he was dreaming. "Serena, you've got the wrong number. I'm Hayden, not Nathan..." Tina went silent for a moment.

"I called you. Be there by ten, or deal with the consequences." Hayden groaned and sat up, accidentally hitting his injured leg. Wincing in pain, he whimpered, "Serena, wait! Don't hang up..." "What now?" Tina asked calmly.

"I'm injured!" Hayden cried. "My leg! Forget protecting others, I can't even protect myself right now!" Tina smirked. "Did you forget how Master made it to the White family?" The line went quiet.

"Serena, I'll go!" Hayden finally relented.

As soon as the call ended, Jared returned, his face unusually tense. The papers in his hand were nearly crumpled.

Seeing him, Tina set her milk aside and stood up, reaching for his hand. "Uncle, what's wrong? You look awful." The moment Jared felt her touch, he seemed startled. Gripping her hand tightly, he said, "Tina, let's go. We're heading to Mom's." "Huh?" On the way, Tina noticed how Jared's hands trembled on the steering wheel. She couldn't figure out why.

She had just run her internal energy through her body and felt no issues.

Why was Uncle this upset?

At the Pace family home, Warren and his family were having breakfast. Seeing pared and Tina arrive, Warren waved them over to join. But Jared had no appetite. He greeted Warren briefly before turning to Alina. "Mom, I need you to take a look at Tina. I don't trust anyone else with her." Everyone at the table froze.

Warren looked at Jared in shock.

Ruud stood up immediately. "Tellwhat's wrong with my daughter!"

Alina glanced at Tina, whose hand was firmly held by Jared. Nodding, reassure the two men. she gor up to reassured "Dad, Ruud, you both stay here and finish eating. I'll take care of Tina." Ruud wanted to follow, but Warren stopped him. "With Alina there, what's there to worry about?"

Inside the room, Alina placed her fingers on Tina's wrist, closing hen eyes to concentrate. Jared stood nearby, holding his breath, the tension in the room palpable. Tina rolled her eyes. "Mom, Uncle acting strange is one thing, but why are you going along with this nonsense?" Alina smirked but didn't reply.

After a moment, she opened her eyes and nodded at Jared. "Go get her medicine. One dose a day for ten days." Tina was speechless.
