Chapter 749 Kind Words Cost Nothing Lysander didn't have any objections. She chuckled. "All right, let's continue calling him White Coat. I've been feeling guilty lately, I've been unable to care for him properly despite having him around. I've heard that dogs have a strong need for affection, I won't hold him back anymore." Adrian readily agreed. "I'll take good care of it. If you want to cand see it, you're always welcome. However, it's currently going through an awkward phase and doesn't quite look like a Samoyed, more like a little monkey." Upon the mention of White Coat, he enthusiastically described its recent condition for a while.
Upon seeing that he had truly managed to step out, Lysander felt a genuine surge of happiness for him. As they were parting, she said gently, "Thank you for being willing to share all this with me, I must be going now." Adrian didn't beat around the bush. He responded with straightforward confidence, "Then, see you next time." When Lysander returned to the main hall with her plentiful notes, Josiah and Aurora were no longer where they had been. Recalling the plan he had shared with her, she followed the signs for the other activities. Ultimately, she found the pair in front of a wall adorned with pages from children's books.
Josiah was a man of his word. He indeed brought Aurora, who was just shy of her first birthday, to the exhibition. Seeing Aurora's interest in the vibrant patterns, he patiently began to narrate the stories behind them.
"On his first venture out, the little bunny encountered his friend, the lamb..." His voice was rich and resonant, and it didn't seem out of place when he started to tell a fairy tale. In no time, he had attracted the attention of other children who were interested in the story but couldn't recognize all the words. These youngsters, none of whom were taller than his thigh, were all utterly engrossed in his storytelling. In order to ensure they could hear him clearly, Josiah decided to hold Aurora and squat down halfway while he narrated the story. Only after he finished, did he rise to his feet again.

Lysander quietly walked over and promptly assisted Josiah. His actions momentarily stiffened, a natural instinct to be wary of others around him. However, once he realized who it was her, he relaxed and asked, "How did the presentation go?" "The speaker is highly skilled, I gained a lot from it," said Lysander, releasing her hold once she was sure the other person was steady on their feet.
Upon seeing her in high spirits, Josiah thought that the invitation to the event was indeed worthwhile. He was about to engage in scasual conversation when he heard her say, "By the way, I ran into Adrian." Josiah visibly raised an eyebrow.
Upon entering the function room, Josiah had spent quite a while outside with Aurora, all in an effort to intercept Adrian. Yet, despite his best efforts, he still couldn't prevent him from getting in.
Josiah didn't show much reaction, his tone and expression remained fairly normal. "Dr. Sutton cto attend the lecture too? I remember you mentioning that he's among the top anesthesiologists, it's surprising to see him attending someone else's class." Lysander discerned the hidden meaning in his words, then she remembered why Adrian didn't plan to explain it to him personally. She smiled wryly and said, "Indeed, his medical skills are impressive, but those who can be keynote speakers at medical seminars are certainly more skilled. There will always be someone better than you, so it's important to remain humble." Seeing her praise Adrian, Josiah felt worse than if he had eaten a lemon. Yet, without any official commitment between them, he couldn't even openly show his jealousy. He watched her expression and continued to question. "Does Dr. Sutton have any other plans after the seminar? It's quite fortunate for us all to meet here. How about we have dinner together?" He was motivated both by a desire to display his magnanimity in front of Lysander, as well as to keep Adrian under his watchful eye.
It was easier to deal with a love rival you could see than an adversary hiding in the shadows.
Josiah quickly devised a plan in his mind to discourage Adrian.
Yet, what Lysander said next was unexpected. "He probably doesn't have any other plans, but let's skip the meal. We have Aurora with us and we have other plans for the afternoon." Josiah continued to feign magnanimity. "That's truly a shame, I was actually hoping to invite him for a stroll." After all, kind words didn't cost a dime.
Lysander was momentarily taken aback, noticing that he was gritting his teeth so hard they were nearly cracking She found his words utterly unconvincing, yet she pretended to ponder thoughtbefore responding, "You have a point there. Perhaps I should call him back right now, he probably hasn't gone far yet." This time, it was Josiah's turn to be taken aback. He wanted to confirm the truth in her words and asked, "Really... hasn't gone far yet?" He was terrified that Lysander would agree, so much so that he didn't dare to ask her if she really intended to bring Adrian along for the stroll.
Lysander blinked. "I was just kidding. We've talked a lot just now and have cleared up all the things from the past. From now on, White Coat is his. Consider it as a fresh start to our friendship." Josiah's tense nerves instantly relaxed. "You're saying White Coat now belongs to him... Does that mean you gave him the dog?" Lysander said seriously, "I can't exactly say I gave it to him. The tand effort he has invested in caring for White Coat has long surpassed mine as the so-called owner. White Coat has essentially bechis dog a long tago." The only personal connection she had with Adrian was thus severed.

That was all there was to it.
In just a few short minutes, Josiah experienced a rollercoaster of emotions, akin to being subjected to both ice and fire. He took several неубок deep breaths in succession, barely managing to suppress the urge to burst out laughing. Turning to Lysander, he asked, "Do you plan on having a dog in the future?" Lysander shook her head.

"Don't we already have a cat at home? I've thought it through carefully, the difference between m raising a pet and raising a child isn't actually that big. Given my busy work schedule, I can't commit to regular walks and playtime. It might be better to opt for a more independent breed. That way, we won't end up hurting others or ourselves." Josiah was in high spirits after hearing this. He was about to further fuel the conversation, emphasizing how affectionate, independent, and non-clingy the cat was. But then he noticed one of their staff members approaching.
"Excuse me, would the two of you be interested in bringing your child to participate in our event?"
The staff member held a stack of registration forms in her hand, and the badge hanging in front©fHem indicated that the company she represented was indeed the the organizer of this children's book exhibition. Josiah was in high spirits, and he seemed more approachable than usual as he asked, "What's the event?" "To be precise, it is a competition," the staff member said, seeing their interest. He enthusiastically explained the details of the competition to them.
"We are conducting a survey on the family atmosphere for children's book audiences in our company. We just saw you telling stories to your child. We hope both of you can participate. The family with the highest score will receive a mysterious prize."
