| gasp, my head snapping up only to find myself met with complete darkness. It takesa few seconds to
realise where | am, and the pulled muscle in my neck is proof enough that I've been sleeping like this for a while.
My gaze snaps to the bag next to me, but it’s still there, with the two pots of cold ramen inside of it..

I'm about to get up when | realise why it’s so dark. The lights are off again. Is it a blackout again? But no, that
can’t be possible. | would have heard the alarm go off

| am about to stand up when | hear a very quiet voice coming from somewhere down below.
“We're close... stay alert.” The voice is deep and cold and my stomach sinks, but it’s the rattling that
accompanies it that makes my stomach churn. They're in masks and that’s the sound of heavy breathing

My stomach plummets as | clamp my hand over my mouth.

| quietly get to my feet and make my way to the winding stairs in the centre beside the lift and look down but
see nothing.
“Find the freak and kill her, bring the body. We can't alert the authorities.” The first mutters menacingly.
“Four floors up and seems she is awake. The tracker shows she’s moving
around.” Another spine-chilling voice snarls.
They are here for me.
| just moved.
How are they tracking me?! My phone is dead too- the chip.
No, there's no way anyone but the government has access to those. They said they would be secure, and no one
would be given the data...
My heart thuds as | quietly back away from the rail hearing their silent yet calculated footsteps climbing the
stairs, I'm about to run to my apartment when suddenly a hand clamps over my mouth and I’m about to struggle
but | recognise who it is by the tingle that rushes through me.

“I told you, if | catch you, I will fuck you but you're really makingwant to punish you instead,” he whispers
menacingly as he dragsbackwards into his apartment, he shuts the apartment door silently and | feel a wave
of relief.
“Don’t make a sound. I'm not going to be able to fight them this time,” he adds quietly before he lets go of me. |
spin around, my heart thundering when | realise he’s pale, extremely pale.
His hair is limp, his eyes dark, and he looks exhausted.
He's sick.

My roam over his shirtless body and that’s when | see the large bruise that
covers his right flank, but even then, his eyes are scanning the room, alert and planning his next step.
“We are going to have to act fast. Bite down on this,” he commands, shoving a cloth into my mouth. I'm about to
argue when | see him take up the very sdagger he had thrown atthe other day.
He pullsthrough to his bedroom and towards the bed and pushesonto it as he straddles me.
“What are you...” My eyes widen as he looks down atand even in that moment when my heart is clamouring
with fear, | can’t deny that a sliver of excitement and pleasure rush through me.
“Trustand don’t make a sound,” he whispers as he glances towards the door.
What does he mean?
| glance at the door when suddenly his grip on my wrist tights and sharp pain rips throughas he slices into
my left forearm, I'm about to scream but he clamps his hand over my cloth-filled mouth stopping any sound
coming out, as he digs the blade deeper into my arm shaking his head in warning at me.
