Chapter 77 While listening to Judson's veiled insults, Baldrick's face turned sour. "Who are you calling out with that tone?" He was no fool. Judson was calling him a dog in his roundabout way.
Without missing a beat, Judson glanced at Nancy and said, "Hey babe, this guy looks pretty terrible. Let's head inside." With that, he started leading Nancy toward the mansion.
Baldrick didn't think twice before stepping in their way, his handsface clouded with anger. "You're not going anywhere. Nancy, who the heck is this guy?" It hadn't been long since Nancy left, and she was with another man by her side upon their reunion. Who could stand that? Judson's eyes briefly flashed with malice, a clear sign he was ready for a fight, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared.
Frowning deeply, Nancy felt irritated, especially at Baldrick's questioning gaze.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtYeah, Baldrick had helped her before. But were they so close that she had to report her personal life to him? With that thought, Nancy firmly removed the hand from her mouth, frowning at Baldrick.
"Mr. Robertson, I'm all ears if you want to discuss work, but my personal life isn't your business." Baldrick felt a pang of hurt. "Nancy, that's not what I meant. And you know how I feel about you." "That's why I turned you down." Nancy's response was stern, with no room for humor.
"Baldrick, I don't want to drag past connections into this." Given that Baldrick knew her and Cyrus, there was no chance for them.
Baldrick felt a rush of shock as he realized what she meant. It suddenly hit him that he'd told Nancy about how Norton had brought in a stand-in for Cyrus at a party, which ended up causing a fight.
Did Nancy lump him together with Norton in her mind repulsive? Because of his connection with Cyrus, like Norton's, they were all friends in her eyes.
Watching Baldrick's face turn pale, Nancy bit her lip gently. "I'm sorry, Baldrick. We're not right for each other." With that, she pulled Judson toward the mansion.
Left behind, Baldrick felt dazed, lifting his head in defiance just in tto catch Judson looking back at him. Their eyes met, full of undisguised hostility and coldness, feeling as if the air around them froze. Judson then looked away with disdain, letting Nancy lead him away.
Baldrick watched them leave and clenched his fists so tightly that he didn't notice the pain.
While remembering Judson's provocative gaze, Baldrick's expression vanished, leaving a void. He turned back to his car, his face stormy, and dialed a number on his phone.
Soon, a groggy voice answered, "Hello." "Lenard, who's the pretty boy cozying up to Nancy?" Baldrick practically snarled.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmStill half asleep, Lenard replied, "Who? The pretty boy? Do you mean Judson? He's not just any guy. He's
a sly fox. He's been playing the devoted husband to Nancy since he 'saved her from amnesia. Fdid sdigging and found out he took a car hit for her. That's why she's keeping him around."
Lenard chuckled as if realizing something. "Did he get under your skin? Despite his amnesia, he's aeting the part of Nancy's husband. And with how Nancy looks at him, you're getting played." Hearing Lenard's words, Baldrick felt a cold rage building up.
Amnesia? Taking a car hit for Nancy? Recalling Judson's glare and looking at the lit mansion, Baldrick felt only a deep, swirling anger. Since Cyrus brought Nancy to their gatherings, Baldrick had wanted nothing to do with him as a friend.
As for Judson, it would be better for him if he truly had lost his memory. Otherwise...
Baldrick was determined. Nancy would only be his.
