Chapter 881
Isaac hadn’t expected to bump into Hana at the local dive bar.
“Hana, what’s up?” he inquired, a hint of surprise laced within his casual tone.
Their acquaintance wasn’t quite at the level where cross-country greetings were
necessary.
Hana, feeling the subtle brush-off, found her desire to win him over intensifying.
After all, who doesn’t relish the sight of an aloof man succumbing to tender charms?
Especially one as impressive as him?
“Mr. Salter,” Hana began, with a strategic touch of concern, “I heard Ms. Dustin was
hospitalized. Is she feeling better now?”
She wasn’t naive; she knew Isaac cared about Brittany and was attempting to use this as
an icebreaker.
But if there was one thing Isaac detested, it was undue prying into his and Brittany’s life.
“Hana,” Isaac said, his brow furrowing, “my personal matters aren’t really something I
need to discuss with you.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHis usual cool demeanor faltered, and his expression towards Hana turned sour.
As an adult and certainly no fool, he could sense Hana’s repeated advances and their
underlying intent, though he had to tread carefully due to her being Daniel’s teacher.
“My wife and I are both in good health; thank you for the concern.”
“What are we chatting about?” Wesley chimed in, returning from a phone call and raising
an eyebrow at the sight of Hana.
“Let’s go.”
Isaac strode off.
Derek cast a meaningful glance at Hana before following suit.
“Miss, you got a thing for Zac?” Wesley, seasoned in the ways of flirtation, saw right
through Hana’s game.
“No, I just wanted to say hello to Mr. Salter.” Hana bit her lip, her denial hanging in the air.
Wesley couldn’t help but see through her facade. “A word of advice, whether you’re
smitten or not, best keep your distance. Otherwise, it won’t end well for you or your
family.”
In his eyes, Hana’s family was inconsequential. If Isaac wanted to, dealing with her family
would be a walk in the park.

Hana’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment, and she stormed off.
Wesley, humming a tune, pushed open the door to their private room and teased, “Zac,
past thirty and still irresistible, huh?”
Isaac, recently on the wagon, ordered a juice and took a sip. At Wesley’s comment, he
glanced over coolly, “You know her?”
“Did some business with her family.”
What Wesley left unsaid was that Hana’s ex was a distant relative of his. The two had
been on the brink of marriage when she abruptly broke it off, even forking over a hefty
settlement.
Isaac, uninterested in gossip, steered the conversation back to business matters.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter more than an hour, he glanced at his watch and excused himself, “It’s getting late. I
should head home.”
Wesley was incredulous. “It’s barely past ten.”
Isaac retrieved his coat, “I have a wife.”
Wesley rolled his eyes, “So do I.”
“And I have a son and a sweet, adorable future daughter-in-law.”
Wesley choked on his drink, a pang of protective rage flaring up.
“Isaac, keep your son away from my daughter, or there will be hell to pay!”
“You’re welcome to take him off my hands.” Isaac offered magnanimously.
Isaac left the bar and spotted Hana on the sidewalk, lightly dressed and looking uneasy.
A few men loitered nearby, their covert glances sending her retreating.
As Isaac emerged, Hana hurried towards him, “Mr. Salter, help…”
Before she could get close, Isaac swung open his car door with lightning speed, started
the engine, and sped away.
