Brittany stared at Isaac in shock. “How… How did you know?”
“I have my ways.” Isaac replied. Watching Brittany run around for Lionel’s wedding recently made him feel
extremely annoyed. His hand played with her long hair. “When the wedding’s over, come back to Salter Manor with
me.”
“No.” Brittany pushed Isaac away and straightened her dress. “I don’t need to play along with you.”
“Even if you don’t like me, you know Grandma has always been good to you.” Isaac spoke in a low voice. “She’s
always blamed herself for not raising me right and for hurting you. Don’t you want to see her?”
Brittany’s grip on the door handle tightened slightly.
During her time with Isaac, Grace Salter had indeed treated her well.
“I hope Grace is well.” She said.
Brittany pushed open the door, ready to leave.

harmony of a newlywed couple; instead, they seemed a bit off.
Brittany closed the door immediately, not wanting to eavesdrop, but their conversation came through the door
anyway.
“Lionel, have you booked your flight?”
Lionel glanced at his wristwatch. “Yeah, it’s at seven tomorrow morning. I’ll be away for about a month. Take care
of yourself during this time.”
Moon looked a little upset. Her newlywed husband was going away for a month, but she had no chance to refuse.
“Okay, I will.”
“If you don’t like staying with the Chester family, you can live alone.”
Lionel’s life was tightly scheduled; he hardly had any time for himself, even though he had just gotten married.
Moon was a very independent woman; she had her own career. For her, a honeymoon seemed like a waste of time.
“I heard you gave some shares to Brittany?”
“Yeah, I’ve discussed it with my father.” Lionel nodded. “Don’t worry, these shares won’t affect our relationship. And
you will also receive some shares.”
“That’s not what I meant.” Moon wasn’t concerned about the money. “You and Brittany…”
“She’s my sister.” Lionel’s calm voice interrupted her. “Just like Hannah.”
His tone made it clear. Moon shrugged helplessly. “Alright, I shouldn’t have asked. No matter what your past was, I
hope we can get along well in the future.”
Moon didn’t care who Lionel liked before or whether he liked her now.
She believed that time would dissipate everything, and she would gradually work her way into Lionel’s heart.
“Let’s go, there’s a group of guests waiting for us.”
They left, and Brittany had listened to their entire conversation, noticing that something seemed off.
Did they really have feelings for each other?
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWhy did their marriage feel like a business deal? It was like they were each taking what they needed.
Isaac was surprised that the Chester family had given shares to Brittany.
It was half an hour later when Brittany returned to the reception.
Before she left, Blake looked a bit awkward. “Bri, I’m sorry for making you uncomfortable today. That guy won’t
bother you again.”
He had always been concerned about Brittany’s marital affairs, but not just anyone could propose to Brittany.
“I’m fine now; you don’t need to worry about me.” Brittany understood Blake’s intentions, but she wasn’t in a rush
to date.
Blake sighed. “Is Isaac still bothering you?”
Brittany gave him a small smile. “You could say that.”
“If you want to fight back, the Chester family will back you up. Don’t let yourself be bullied.”
Brittany chuckled, exchanged a few words with Blake, and then left.
As she walked away, she noticed someone standing not far away. It was William.
He probably came for Lionel’s wedding too. He saw her coming out and flashed a gentle smile. “You’ve worked
hard.”
