Chapter 638
Isaac grinned, taking a cheeky breath.
Brittany was a tad bemused.
After pouring wine for Brittany, Isaac then slid the glass towards her. “I know, I never told you about what happened
back then. But Joie, she’s like a sister to me.”
“That’s none of my business.” Brittany didn’t feel like touching the wine he poured.
“When I was seven, my mom passed away, and I was kidnapped and ended up in H city. She saved me.” Isaac
rarely brought up his past, but he had decided to be honest with. Brittany. There could no longer be anymore
secrets between them.
“We escaped from those human traffickers together, but she fell into the sea and vanished. I admit that I always
wanted to find her, but then I found you.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIsaac gazed straight into Brittany’s face. The words he used to think were corny now came out effortlessly, even
spontaneously.
“I said goodbye to her at the seaside that year, wanting to start a new life. And in my new life, you are the most
important person to me.”
Brittany, her fingers trembling slightly, fixed her gaze on his deep-set eyes. “Mr. Salter, we’re over. You should start
a new life. I think Joie must have feelings for you. Isn’t it better for you to be with her?”
“No!” Isaac stated firmly, “If you can’t accept me now, I will make you. I won’t want anyone else, and you can’t
either.”
Isaac was a good-looking guy, and his inherent aristocratic demeanor reached its peak at this moment. Brittany felt
a bit uncomfortable under his intense gaze and turned her head away.
“If you mind Joie, I can make sure she appears less at Salter Manor.”
Isaac knew she didn’t get along with Joie, and given that Joie was not easy to deal with, he had to make a choice.
“It’s none of my business whether she likes you or is close to the Salter family.”
Isaac had missed the point. It was his use and deceit she loathed, not Joie.
Isaac looked into her cold eyes, took a deep breath, and after a while, he said, “I see.”
Daniel came back, and Brittany immediately put away her cold expression and hugged him.
“Dad, mom, what were you talking about?” Daniel sensed an odd tension between the two.
“I was telling Mom that we’d watch cartoons together after dinner.” Isaac poured a glass of juice for his son and
handed it to him.
Daniel’s eyes twinkled. “Really?”
Brittany didn’t expect Isaac to set this trap, but after looking into Daniel’s expectant eyes, she couldn’t refuse.
Daniel pecked her chin. “You’re the best, Mom.”
Brittany smiled and looked up to see Isaac’s deep gaze. She felt uncomfortable and shifted her eyes away.
When the food was served. Daniel began to enjoy his meal with gusto.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBrittany picked up her knife and fork, ready to dig in..
“Dad!” Daniel’s little face wrinkled, his eyes full of disappointment. “Boys should be more polite: you should help
Mom cut the steak.”
Brittany choked up; she was about to refuse.
However, Isaac had already picked up her steak, slicing it into bite-sized pieces with practiced ease.
His movements were so natural and proficient that they made Brittany fall into a trance.
Five years ago, they would occasionally dine out. Most of the time, it was Isaac who cut the steak. He had a touch of
OCD, so the pieces were all pretty much the same size. “Eat up.”
Brittany looked at the cut steak and confidently picked up her fork, taking bite after bite.
After seeing her start to eat, Daniel gave Isaac a silent thumbs-up.
Good job, Dad. Mom will accept you again soon.
In the middle of their meal, someone delivered a large bouquet of roses. “Mrs. Salter, hello. These are the roses
your husband ordered. Please accept them.”
The scent of ninety-nine roses wafted through the air, drawing the eyes of the surrounding diners.
Brittany instinctively looked at Isaac. “Did you order these flowers?”
Isaac looked at Daniel, who kept his head down while munching on his steak, turning a deaf ear to this situation.
