Chapter 610
She feared that down the road, William would blame her for the Dillion Group’s bankruptcy and for ruining his
family’s lives.
She couldn’t risk it. She didn’t want to drag William down with her.
Her silence was the best answer. William felt like the last bit of warmth had been sucked out of him. His whole body
felt like it was covered in ice, and he averted his gaze in silence.
An awkward silence hung between them.
Brittany poured him a glass of water and placed it in front of him.
William took the glass, skillfully avoiding Brittany’s hand.
Brittany noticed his evasion, and she suddenly felt a lump in her throat, as if it had been stuffed with a wet cloth,
suffocating her.
“I don’t plan on being with Isaac. I plan on fighting for Daniel’s custody, and then, I want to leave Imperial City.”

William took a sip of water. Their happiest five years were spent in Craneville.
If he knew that going back to Imperial City would lead them there, he would rather have never left Craneville. That
way, they would always be together.
“Yes.”
Before Brittany left, tears welled up in her eyes. “William, don’t hurt yourself because of me. It’s not worth it.”
William put down the glass and extended his hand. “Let me see your hand.”
His tone was still gentle.
Brittany reached out her hand. He gently took it, examining every inch with great care.
Her hand was beautiful, slender, and soft. Then, because of the injury, it was lightly bruised and even had some
cuts, with a faint shade of red seeping through.
William opened a drawer and took out some antiseptic and cotton swabs. He applied the antiseptic to her wounds.
Whenever Brittany was injured, it was mostly William who would disinfect and medicate her wounds, rarely letting
anyone else do it.
That scene had been played out many times before.
Brittany’s eyes welled up, her tears like beads on a broken string!
Seeing her tears, William paused for a moment, helped her disinfect, and then wiped her tears. “Why are you
crying? I’m fine now. I won’t drink anymore.”
Brittany pulled her hand back, her emotions getting the best of her. “I’m sorry.”
“No need to apologize.” William shook his head, his eyes full of longing. “You know, I want more than just your
apology.”
What he wanted was for her to be with him.
Seeing the look in his eyes, an urge to escape surged in Brittany. She wiped away her tears and quickly left.
As he watched her leave, William picked up the glass and drank it in one gulp.
After a while, he crushed the glass in his hand as blood seeped through his fingers. Mrs. Dillion heard the noise,
rushed in, and was shocked to see his bloody hand.

Instead, she went to see Tanya Chester.
There weren’t many people in Tanya’s hospital room, Lionel Chester and Hannah were at work, and the same went
for Blake Chester.
Tanya was dozing off but woke up upon hearing footsteps.
“Bri, you’re here.”
Brittany sat down next to Tanya. “Tanya, are you feeling better?”
Tanya had just endured a severe illness, and her body had become very frail.
Half a month prior, she underwent surgery. Her recovery had been going well thus far, which was a relief to the
Chester family.
“Bri, have you been crying?”
Tanya extended her slightly dry hand and held Brittany’s hand.
Seeing the tears in Brittany’s eyes made her feel sad.
Rumors had reached her, and the news was even reporting about the conflict between them. But she couldn’t
believe Brittany would betray William.
Hearing that, Brittany couldn’t hold back her tears any longer, and her eyes filled with tears.
