Chapter 565
Daniel instinctively nodded his head, but then remembered what his dad said about not letting his mom know his
name “Kyle”, so he shook his head, “Mom, you’re swamped with work. The nanny can pick me up.”
Brittany wanted to say something else but was interrupted by a phone call.
“Bri, let’s hang out.”
It was Viola calling.
“Viola, it’s late. Aren’t you home yet?”
“There’s plenty of time. My hubby just opened a new bar; want to come check it out?”
Viola’s end was very noisy, and her tone was full of excitement, which Brittany could feel through the phone.
“I can’t tonight. How about tomorrow night?”
The nanny had left, and Daniel was home alone. Brittany didn’t feel comfortable.
“Alright, see you tomorrow night.”
After hanging up, Daniel finished his milk, looking at Brittany with his big eyes, “Mom, I want to sleep. Can you tell
me a story?”
Brittany was melted by his cuteness; she grabbed a tissue to wipe the milk off his mouth and said, “Sure.”
Brittany took Daniel into the bedroom, laid him on the bed, and then opened the storybook. Her gentle voice

Dad was right; mom would tell him stories, make him milk, and most importantly, she smelled good and felt soft.
Listening to Brittany’s voice, Daniel couldn’t help but yawn. He lay in Brittany’s arms, sleeping soundly.
Once Daniel was asleep, Brittany put down the storybook, carefully let go of his hand, tucked him in, and left the
room.
Back in her room, Brittany began to freshen up.
She saw a message from Hannah Chester, “I heard from William that there’s a little boy in your house? Where did
he come from?” Brittany called Hannah, who answered, “Done with your chores?”
“Just put the kid to bed.”
There was silence on Hannah’s end before she asked, “Bri, where did this kid come from?”
Why was she so cautious about that little boy?
She even let him live in her house, taking care of him all the time.
“I met him by chance.” Brittany couldn’t exactly explain, “I liked him the first time I saw him. His dad’s really busy,
so he temporarily entrusted the kid to me.”
What Brittany didn’t say was that she saw the shadow of her child in Daniel. Her kindness towards Daniel was like
compensation for her child.
Hannah knew Brittany’s character. She sighed and said, “Bri, don’t forget that you’re dating William. I’m worried he
might mind.”
After all,
William was a
man; could he accept Brittany being so kind to a boy who has nothing to do with her?
“He likes Daniel too.” Brittany knew Hannah meant well and said, “Don’t worry, I know my limits.”
“Alright.”
Hannah knew she was overstepping; they chatted about other things. Before hanging up, Hannah said, “I saw the
news. William really is a good man.”
He’s not like Isaac, who didn’t even dare to announce his marriage!
“Alright, it’s late. You should rest.” Brittany knew who she was sarcastically referring to but decided not to respond.
After hanging up, Brittany walked over to the window, about to close it, when she noticed a low-key black car
parked downstairs. It made her heart skip a beat.
Just as she was about to take a closer look, a man stepped out of the car, but it wasn’t Isaac.
She sighed in relief, closed the window, drew the curtains, sent a message to William, and then went to bed.
Downstairs.
Seeing the curtains drawn, Isaac, sitting in the back of the black car, lowered his eyes and said, “Find a way; send
some people close to Brittany and be careful.”
