Chapter 553
Brittany Dustin and William Dillion turned up at the dinner party together, causing quite a stir.
It was Viola Miller who first spotted them. There was a mischievous glint in her eyes. “So, you two are a thing now,
huh?”
She had noticed William’s affection for Brittany a while back but never thought they would actually hook up.
William responded with a smile. ‘Yeah, we’re together.”
“Congrats, you two,” Viola murmured. “You really do make a great pair”
That was a moment William had never dreamed of, and he looked thoroughly at ease.
However, not everyone was thrilled about that lovey-dovey scene.
“William, long time no see. How about we grab a drink sometime?”
Brittany frowned at the sound of the voice.
“Zac,” William said, moving to protectively shield Brittany. “Sure, we’re friends. You’re always welcome if you’re
truly happy for us.”

Everyone knew that Isaac Salter used to be married to Brittany, and he had always treated her like a treasure.
But then, Brittany was William’s girlfriend.
Isaac’s eyes turned icy cold in an instant. “If you two tie the knot, I’ll make sure to send a big gift”
A chill ran down Brittany’s spine at his words, and she gripped William’s hand tightly.
“It’s okay; don’t be scared.” William reassured her softly, his heart aching for her.
What had Isaac done to her to make her that terrified of him, to the point of loathing him?
Brittany’s dependence made Isaac lose his cool.
His eyes glowed red, causing an eerie silence to fall over the guests.
Even Nathan Jarvis, standing behind him, was frightened.
Mr. Salter was truly pissed off
“Mr. Salter,” Shona Bennett held him back, reminding him not to do anything rash. “I need to talk to you; come with
me.*
She didn’t want Isaac to become a laughingstock under the watchful eyes of the crowd.
It was as if Isaac had paused for a moment before he followed Shona out.
Brittany finally let out a sigh of relief.
William led her out of the banquet hall. “Why are you so scared of him?”
“I just don’t want to have anything to do with him anymore.”
Brittany was recalling the events from five years prior, when she was held captive, forced, and even had to please
Isaac with her body before she was fully recovered. Those were memories she didn’t want to revisit.
William held her close, guilt washing over him. “I’m sorry.”
Brittany’s captivity five years prior was his fault.

William was no longer in the mood for the dinner party, so he comforted Brittany. “Do you want to go home or
stay?”
Brittany originally planned to use that opportunity to change her situation, but she almost became a laughingstock.
However, she didn’t want Viola’s kindness to go to waste.
She cleared her throat, “We should stay. Viola wanted to introduce me to some clients. I’d like to stay in Imperial
City”
William was taken aback. “I thought you wanted to go back to Craneville?”
For the past five years, they had been living in Craneville. He thought they were just returning temporarily.
“William.” Brittany understood what he meant. She knew he had moved to Craneville for her. She had no family, so
it didn’t matter where she was, but William still had his parents. “Mr. and Mrs. Dillion are still in Imperial City. Let’s
stay in Imperial City from nowor
William understood she was willing to stay for his sake. He was incredibly touched, his eyes welling up with tears. He
