Chapter 712 The Forbidden Poison Has Disappeared
Inside the study of the Yablon family residence in Musbane, a tall figure was leaning against the full-length window.
His name was Cameron Yablon, heir to the world's most prestigious family in poison creation.
Despite his young age, he had mastered the poison-creation techniques passed down through the generations.
As a result, there were plenty of parties who struggled against each other in an attempt to seek his help.
Nevertheless, the Yablon family rules forbade their members from getting involved in worldly conflicts. That was
why none of them used poison for harm throughout the years.
Unfortunately, there was but one particular traitor.
By combining his skills in medicine and toxicology, he made a name for himself on the international stage by
treating many people with unconventional techniques.
He was none other than Cadence White, the man whom Bailey defeated.
The blood of the Yablon family didn't flow within him. Instead, he was simply an apprentice of one of the elders.
Despite that, the promise he showed caused the Yablon family to teach him many of their poison-concocting
techniques.
Unfortunately, his overwhelming ambition resulted in him being expelled and subsequently becoming Bailey's
enemy before meeting a miserable end.
Creak!
Amidst the sound of an opening door, a black-clad bodyguard walked into the room and nodded at Cameron. “Mr.
Yablon, something terrible has happened.”
The words caused Cameron to tighten his grip on the wine glass in his hand.
“What is it?”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe magnetic voice he spoke with carried an aura so sharp and frosty that it felt like a blade that was made of ice.
“The forbidden poison kept in the ancestral hall has disappeared.”
Crack!
A crisp sound rang out when Cameron crushed the wine glass in his fist.
As a mixture of blood and red wine trickled down his wrist, it formed a frightening-looking pattern on the ground.
The bodyguard, sensing the murderous aura, dropped to his knees with his pupils slightly constricted.
“I deserve death for failing in my duty and causing the forbidden poison to emerge in the world once again.”
Cameron turned around gradually, allowing the light to illuminate the contours of his face.
His chiseled features accentuated the cold expression he was wearing. Even though there was a scar by the corner
of his eye, it didn't diminish his looks at all. Instead, it added a touch of arrogance and ferality.
“There's no doubt that you deserve to die. For generations, the Yablon family has watched over Soul Reaper,
making sure that it isn't unleashed upon the world by the wicked, which would result in a shockwave of global
proportions. After generations of safekeeping, we ended up losing it on my watch. Therefore, you're not the only
one that deserves a death sentence. Even I will be held responsible for this mistake.”
An ashen look descended upon the bodyguard's face. After a brief silence, he pulled out a dagger and stabbed it
into his own chest.
He knew, from the first day he followed Cameron, that the latter had no need for incompetent followers.
Now that he had lost the Yablon family's most important object, the only way to redeem himself was with death.
Clang!
Suddenly, a sharp metallic sound rang out in the study.
The bodyguard was baffled to see his dagger drop to the ground alongside a dart.
Cameron explained in an icy tone, “I won't stand in the way of your death, but before that, you have to retrieve
what is lost. Once the forbidden poison is returned to its rightful place, no one will stop you from killing yourself
anymore.”
“Thank you, Mr. Yablon. I will not rest until the forbidden poison is returned. After that, I will seek out the elders for
my punishment.”
As Cameron turned around to look out at the night sky, he remarked in a nonchalant tone, “Since the theft is
recent, we should still be able to find some clues. Investigate everyone starting from the highest levels of
leadership. Whoever stole it from the ancestral hall isn't a nobody. They must be connected to the elders, one way
or another.”
Lowering his head, the bodyguard declared in a voice brimming with conviction, “I will retrieve the forbidden poison
no matter the costs.”
Cameron subsequently dismissed him with a wave.
Once silence returned to the room, Cameron looked down at his bleeding fingers.
As a mysterious thought emerged in his mind, he curled his lips into a devilish smirk.
What else can one do with Soul Reaper other than cause another harm? Whoever the thieves are trying to hurt, he
or she must be someone powerful for them to take such a risk. In the entire world, the targets worthy of such grave
measures can be counted on one
hand. Hopefully, the poison has yet to be deployed. Otherwise, even I am incapable of neutralizing it. If that were to
happen, it would be the end of the Yablon family.
Meanwhile, Bailey was staring at a bunch of data in the lab.
"Good job, kid. You've outdone yourself by producing such data. It seems all the guidance I have given you over the

Zain cocked a brow upon hearing her words. “Does that mean you support the idea?”
Bailey nodded with a smile. “Veronique's condition has progressed into the mid-to-late stages. Even if I come up
with anti-cancer drugs, it wouldn't be enough to eradicate her cancer cells. Not being able to suppress it fully would
cause a rebound instead. The best my cancer drugs can do is slow down her cancer's mutation. It's unable to cut it
off at the root. At most, I can buy her five years of remission, but her condition will drastically worsen after that.”
Pausing briefly, she waved the report in his face. “However, your proposal takes on a different approach. By fighting
cancer with cancer and accelerating the process with poison, we might actually be able to wipe it out once and for
all. However...”
Zain finished her sentence, “However, no ordinary person can use this method because it's impossible to get the
Yablon family to formulate a poison forthem.”
Bailey nodded in agreement. “That's right. Your plan is predicated on the Yablon family's cooperation, which isn't
available to the general public. That said, their affairs are none of my business.
After all, we live in a world where the fittest survive. The only thing I can do is protect those around me. As for the
millions of cancer patients around the world, it's beyond my ability to help them.”
After taking the report back from her hands, Zain commented, “Isn't that all there is to it? What's there left to think
about? Saving Veronique is all that matters. It isn't your responsibility to save everyone else.”
Nonetheless, Bailey broke into a wry smile. “But I might not necessarily be able to convince Cameron to help us.
The Yablon family rules forbid them from working for anyone, let alone making poison for an outsider.”
Zain shrugged his shoulders as he replied in an annoying tone, “That's not my problem but yours. I've already come
up with an idea that has a high chance of success. The decision on whether to use it lies in your hands.”
Bailey snapped her fingers before walking toward the door. “Fine, I'll go and see Mr. Yablon. Hopefully, he doesn't
turn out to be yet another man in love with me. Otherwise, Artemis will kill me.”
Zain was immediately amused by her comment.
“Now that you mentioned it, I remember hearing about Mr. Yablon commissioning a painter to draw a painting of
you which sits on the wall of his private residence. Hey, does Artemis know about it?”
