Chapter 696 A Bad Feeling
Philip shot her an amused look. “What do you think will divert their attention so they will stop monitoring the entry
and exit points of Hallsbay?”
Sofie gazed at him silently for some time before realization dawned upon her.
“Are you saying that we should expose this farmhouse so they will show up here? Once they send their men here,
the entry and exit points will be...”
Philip's hand gently brushed against her cheek. “You're still as smart as ever, but luck wasn't on your side this time.
Don't worry; one failure doesn't define us. Once we leave Hallsbay, we'll have plenty of opportunities to take them
on.”
Sofie slapped his hand away. “We need to leave now. I'll arrange for my men to keep an eye on Steven and order
them to expose our hideaway to attract Bailey and Artemis.”
Philip's lips curved into a mysterious smile. “I'm afraid I can't leave the country with you just yet. My hands are tied
dealing with Zeke. Remember the plan I told you about? I intend to 'rescue' Steven by coincidence and then
demand a reward from Zeke so that he'll owe me a favor.”
Sofie frowned. “It sounds like a risky plan. If things don't go according to plan, you could be in danger. Our whole
plan would be compromised if you end up in danger,” she cautioned.
Philip gave her shoulder a comforting pat and grinned. “Don't worry about me, as I know how to take good care of
myself. Before coming to Hallsbay, I made the preparations to make sure everything went according to my plan.”
Sofie contemplated his response for a moment before nodding. “You're right. As long as we keep our relationship
hidden, you should be safe. As for your plan to 'save' Steven and get Zeke to owe you a favor, you need to be

“Mm.” Philip nodded.
Sofie inquired, “Do you think we can leave Hallsbay tonight without being noticed? Several forces are monitoring
the entry and exit points of Hallsbay. It's not just Artemis and Bailey's men, as Mr. Raiden's elite forces from
Dellmoor are also keeping watch. Have you dealt with them?”
“Rest assured. If Artemis and Zeke decide to come here, they'll redirect their men to surround the farmhouse
instead of monitoring the entry and exit points. As for Mr. Raiden, he left Hallsbay secretly this noon as something
happened to his father without informing anyone. This means that those left to monitor the entry and exit points
have no leader, making it easier for us to leave Hallsbay undetected,” Philip assured Sofie.
“Okay. I trust you,” came Sofie's reply.
Back at the medical base, Artemis entered the ward and found Bailey leaning against the bed, absorbed in her
phone. He approached her and planted a gentle kiss on her forehead.
“I need to leave, but I'll be back soon. You can sleep or keep Edmund company,” he told her.
Bailey's gaze flickered as she looked at her phone.
It's ten forty at night, and he never heads out this late. Something urgent must've happened.
“What happened? Tell me about me. Don't you dare hide anything from me.”
Artemis let out a chuckle. “I wasn't planning on keeping anything from you. I just received news that our men have
located the hiding spot of Sofie and the others. It's a farmhouse a few miles away from the eastern outskirts. Zeke
and I are heading there to investigate.”
Bailey lifted her blanket, ready to hop off her bed. “I'll come with you.”
Artemis applied pressure on her arm. “I told you about the situation, not so you can act recklessly. Stay in bed.
Don't move.”
Bailey pouted. “Did you yell at me? You no longer love me anymore.”
The veins on Artemis' foreheads bulged.
Seriously?
He gently admonished Bailey, “You're still recovering, so it's not safe for you to be moving around. Please take care
of yourself, okay? If anything happens to you, I-I won't talk to you anymore!”
Bailey burst out laughing.
His threat sounded weak, but she loved it.
“Okay, I'll do as you say. Please don't be angry with me. It gives me a headache when you ignore me.”
“Stay in your ward, and don't go anywhere else. I've called my mother, and she'll come here to keep you
company,” Artemis told her.
After watching him leave, Bailey stared at her phone and fell into deep thought.
Sofie's request to release Yvette seems unreasonable, especially since she knows that her own whereabouts could
be exposed if she continues to stall for time. It makes me wonder what Sofie's true intentions are. What is she
thinking? Now that her hiding spot has been revealed, is she still within the farmhouse? If she isn't there, where
could she be? Steven is still in her hands, but she has never used him. What could her plan be?
It was possible that women have a sharper sixth sense than men. When Bailey heard that Sofie's location had been
revealed, she didn't immediately think about the number of guards stationed around the farmhouse but instead
wondered where Sofie had fled to. Her intuition suggested that Zeke and Artemis' ambush might not be successful.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter staring at her phone blankly for some time, Bailey suddenly thought about something and immediately gave
Raiden a call.
Her call went unanswered.
The foreboding sense within her increased as she kept trying to call him several times but to no avail.
Right then, the door was pushed open, and in came Victoria.
Her face was pale, and she seemed on the verge of collapsing. Seeing that, Bailey quickly hopped out of bed and
ran over to support her.
“What's wrong, Vicky?” she asked, helping Victoria to her bed to sit down.
Victoria's voice was hoarse as she revealed, “Bay, I sent Victor to jail. I also destroyed Lionel's letter of
understanding so he'll get sentenced to twenty years in jail.”
A flash of surprise appeared in Bailey's eyes, but she quickly calmed down.
She understood that it was not wise to criticize or condemn Victoria as the latter's emotions weren't stable.
After a brief silence, she spoke carefully. “You made the right decision. Anyone in your position would have done the
same. Your brother went too far. He never saw you as his sister. Do you remember how he tried to kill you in front
of the court? Fortunately, Lionel took the blow for you. Otherwise, it would have been you who got hurt. Vicky,
leaving him on his own outside is only going to bring him harm. We know how cruel the world can be. One day, he
might end up dead on the streets. It's better to send him to jail. At least he has a chance to survive.”
Victoria flashed a bitter smile. “You know me well. You're the only one who knows me well. If someone else learns
about my doing, they will most probably criticize me for being cold-blooded.”
“Don't...” Bailey was cut short by her phone, which started ringing.
She picked it up and realized it was Raiden.
At once, she answered his call and said urgently, “Raiden, you must monitor the entry and exit points of Hallsbay
tonight carefully.”
