Chapter 631 Illegitimate Child
Hearing that, Victoria struggled to sit up and stared at Lionel puzzledly. “Why must you be so detail-oriented?
Everyone in the world knows we were once deeply in love with each other. Even if I were to deny that, I would be
lying to myself.”
Lionel shuddered when he heard that. At the same time, there was a hint of happiness in his eyes. Is she saying
that she had regarded me as her husband? Does that mean her feelings were genuine when we registered for our
marriage?
“Vicky—”
Victoria held up her hand to cut him off. “If transferring me your shares makes you feel better, then you should just
proceed. I won't acquire the shares from you.”
Lionel got emotional, and he instinctively wanted to hug her. However, he held back and said, “Vicky, I can't undo
the wrongs of the older generation, but I can atone for their sins. Your parents were most worried about you, so I'll
take good care of you and let them rest in peace.”
Instead of responding to that, Victoria asked casually, “When will you be free? Let's go to City Hall to finalize our
divorce.”
The smile on Lionel's face froze, but he recomposed himself immediately after. With a smile, he answered, “We can
go once you've recovered. By then, I'll only be a phone call away.”
“Sure,” Victoria uttered before falling into silence.
A minute later, she urged, “Don't let Victor do whatever he wants. The more money he has, the more he'll lose
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtcontrol of himself. If you cut off his source of income, perhaps he'll gradually set himself back on the right path.”
As soon as Victoria mentioned Victor, Lionel recalled what Victor said to him. That fellow is crazy, and he could
scheme against Victoria. Who knows what he would do in desperation?
“Okay. I understand. I'll make time to chat with him again to see if he would let me teach him how to do business.”
Lionel didn't want Victor to pester Victoria, so he had no choice but to let the man bother him instead.
Victoria knew what Lionel was doing, but she didn't turn him down. Since Lionel is also a man, he'll have common
topics to talk about with Victor. Who knows? Maybe Victor will get back on the right track under Lionel's influence.
In truth, Lionel got it wrong. My parents were most worried about Victor because he couldn't stop causing trouble.
They would be glad if Victor could turn over a new leaf.
“Thank you,” Victoria replied.
In the Hoffman residence, Philip sent a doctor to do the amniotic fluid test on Juliana and had the doctor bring the
sample back to the infirmary.
As soon as they left, Juliana whipped out her phone to send Bailey a text. It read: Master, they had already taken
the sample to do the test. The account number of the Hoffman family's medical system is... You must help me
tamper with the results and keep everything under wraps.
After sending the text, Juliana leaned against Huntley's chest. At that moment, her heart was racing wildly because
she could sense that something significant was about to happen.
Huntley lowered his gaze to look at her and uttered in a gentle tone, “Don't worry. Things aren't as bad as you think
they are. In fact, everything could still turn around.”
Juliana pursed her lips and uttered pitifully, “I can't seem to feel at ease. I keep feeling something huge is about to
happen. However, I know there's no use in worrying about it. I guess we can only sit tight and see what happens
next.”
With that, she raised her gaze toward Huntley and asked curiously, “Why are you so committed to helping me?
Don't tell me you've fallen for me at first sight. You're a rational man capable of controlling your emotions. Besides,
I don't think I'm attractive enough to have you falling for me at first sight.”
Hearing that, Huntley hugged her tight and recalled his memories with a dazed look in his eyes.
A long while later, he asked, “Do you still remember the boy you saved in the Hoffman family's training facility?”
Juliana tilted her head to jog her memory.
Juliana was a stony-hearted woman whose memory was nowhere as good as Bailey's. I don't even remember much
about the past, let alone something that happened when I was five.
“When I was five... Well, I can vaguely remember something. There was a huge pond with a lot of crocodiles in it. I
think I saved a boy from getting eaten by the crocodiles...”
Suddenly, Juliana raised her gaze toward Huntley and looked at him shockingly, “You? Could you be the boy I
saved?”
Huntley smiled and lowered his head to meet her gaze. Without saying a word, his silence was a tacit acquiescence.
At that point, Juliana was utterly confused. “You're an influential member of the Cloudax family. Considering the fact
that your family was a protected family, why were you sent to the training facility to go through such gruesome
training?”
Huntley was still smiling, but his gaze turned cold.
With his lips trembling slightly, he uttered through his gritted teeth, “I'm a pathetic illegitimate child, so the
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmmatriarch didn't want me around. Hence, I was sent to the training facility to fend for myself.”
Juliana's heart broke, and she pulled him into her embrace. “I'm sorry. I shouldn't have made you recall those
painful memories.”
Huntley shook his head and responded softly, “You're right. I was fighting off the crocodiles back then, and I
became weak when my arm got bitten. As they were about to swallow me whole, I saw a girl running toward me
without a care in the world. Mr. Raymond saw what was happening and immediately ordered the trainers to subdue
the crocodiles. That was how I survived.”
As soon as those words fell, Juliana fell into deep thought. I was that girl, wasn't I? Did he get close to me and help
me all these years because he wanted to repay me for saving his life?
“You—”
Huntley covered her mouth to stop her from talking. What can hurt more than trying to protect a girl who is in love
with someone else? I joined the elder and endured years of humiliation. When I finally became powerful, all I
wanted was to be with her and protect her. Yet, I found out that she was no longer single.
“Don't feel burdened. I merely wanted to repay you, but I guess my emotions got the better of me. I managed to
suppress them in the nick of time, though. Obviously, I know you like Zeke, so I won't cause you trouble,” Huntley
said.
Juliana smacked her own head and replied, “How dense of me! How could I have not recognized you? However, I'm
glad you had grown up to become the best talent the Hoffman family has. You made it, young man!”
Memories came flooding in when Huntley heard those words, and tears welled up in his eyes.
In fact, Huntley was reminded of the childish voice he heard back then.
All those years ago, he heard Juliana yelling, “Daddy! Please help this young man! He had lost so much blood! He's
dying! Hang in there, young man!”
