Chapter 623 Part On Good Terms
Lionel tightened his grip on the phone. If it weren't for this b*stard pressuring me, I wouldn't have invited him over
for a talk. I managed to hide it from Victoria but not the old woman at home, leading to this unsalvageable
situation.
Indeed, he did not plan to keep Victoria in the dark for a lifetime.
However, he harbored selfish intentions—he wanted her to give birth to their child safely before coming clean to
her.
With the child acting as their emotional bridge, they might still have a chance to stay together even if he revealed
the truth about the past.
Unfortunately, all his plans had been foiled. The child was gone. With the connection between them having
vanished, Lionel figured there might no longer be a future for him and Victoria.
Lionel rasped, “Your sister had a miscarriage. When you came to pressure me, and I invited you into the study for a
talk, my stepmother overheard us. I suppose you're familiar with my stepmother. She's the woman whose
reputation was ruined by your father. She wanted revenge on the Saunders family, so she targeted Victoria like a
rabid dog and harmed her. Now, we're all in immense pain and agony.”
Victor suddenly raised his voice. “What does that have to do with me? I didn't leak anything. Since it was your
stepmother's doing, you should deal with her. Why are you pushing the responsibility onto me? Lionel, give me a
straight answer. Will you transfer the shares to me or not? If you refuse, be prepared for me to unleash my wrath
on all of you like a rabid dog, just like how your stepmother acted.”
Lionel chuckled. A murderous glint flashed across his gaze.

gruesome scenes from hell in his eyes.
“I won't transfer the shares to you. You can give up on that idea. I'd rather sell them at a low price and donate all
the proceeds to charity than let you run wild. Before, I tolerated you for your sister's sake. But starting today, I
won't tolerate you anymore, so come at me with whatever tricks you have.”
Victor was beside himself with rage. After cursing several times and repeatedly saying “fine,” he left a harsh threat
before hanging up the call.
Listening to the beeping sound of the disconnected call, Lionel curled the corner of his stiff mouth into a bitter
smile.
In the end, his relationship with Victoria was still coming to an end.
Despite his great reluctance, she was still drifting further and further away from him.
Meanwhile, inside the bedroom, Bailey packed Victoria's belongings while asking, “Have you really decided to leave
the Gezmond residence? You shouldn't place the grudges of the previous generation on Lionel. Vicky, he's also
suffering because none of this is within his control.”
A heart-rending smile spread across Victoria's face. She stared blankly at the ceiling and uttered bitterly, “I know
he's in pain, but the self-blame and guilt in his heart probably far outweigh his love for me.”
Bailey arched her brows, seemingly understanding what Victoria meant.
“Vicky, you don't hate him. You're just worried he'll be overwhelmed by self-blame and guilt, and even if he stays
with you, it would be for redemption, not out of love.”
Smiling, Victoria shook her head. “You truly are the person who understands me best in this world. That's why I
want to give Lionel and me some space to clear our minds. I don't want him to stay with me out of remorse or
redemption. What I want is a complete family, a perfect marriage.”
Bailey flicked Victoria's forehead twice and chirped, “It's a good thing you're pulling yourself together. As for having
children, you shouldn't worry so much. You're still young, and with me around, you don't have to be afraid of not
getting the chance to become a mother.”
Victoria merely smiled in response.
A few moments later, Lionel pushed the door open and entered the bedroom.
He subconsciously frowned when he noticed Bailey packing Victoria's things. “What are you doing?”
Bailey contemplated briefly before putting the items in her hand down and turning around to leave the room.
Lionel narrowed his eyes at Victoria, who was sitting on the bed, and asked in a deep voice, “Are you really leaving?
The Saunders family is no longer... I'm worried about you being on your own. If you don't wish to see me, I can
move out. The butler and the housekeepers here are very attentive. With them taking care of you, I'll be more at
ease.”
Victoria slowly tilted her head to look at him. Taking in his bloodshot eyes, she said in a hoarse voice, “I feel like
anywhere is better than staying here. There's someone here who constantly wants me dead. She's your
stepmother, so you can't do anything about her. As a result, our child passed away just like that, leaving a deep and
painful wound between us.”
Lionel staggered a few steps backward and leaned against the door. He gazed at her with an agonized expression.
His lips twitched as though he wanted to say something, but ultimately, he gave up.
Victoria continued, “Let's stop forcing ourselves to stay together and torment each other. If you don't wish to watch
me wither away, let me go. I want to see if I can rise above the pain and find my own purpose in life.”
Lionel slowly closed his eyes and chuckled dolefully. “Since you've made your stance clear, what else can I say?

weighing you down.”
“I will. Without the stumbling block of love, I'll definitely be able to shine. I've wasted too much of my youth living in
a daze for you all these years. Lionel, from today onward, I'll no longer live for you. Let's... part on good terms.”
Lionel trembled.
In the end, he silently saw her off.
During their farewell, he held her in his arms, gazing at her quietly as if he wanted to have his fill of her presence
because he would never see her again in his lifetime.
“Please take good care of her.”
He did not say goodbye to Victoria, but before Bailey entered the car, he solemnly uttered those words and even
bowed deeply to her.
The proud man, who held a monopoly on two-thirds of the global entertainment market and was highly influential in
the international business world, had ultimately lowered his head for a woman.
Bailey felt Victoria was both fortunate and unfortunate.
The latter was lucky because she received Lionel's wholehearted love, and he would even likely die for her.
Regrettably, there were deep-seated grudges between their families, and that insurmountable hatred could not be
overcome no matter what they did.
They were, after all, just pitiful people toyed with by fate.
Bailey brought Victoria to Justin's medical base.
Right after she got out of the vehicle, she received news that Felicity had awakened.
Overwhelmed by excitement, Bailey wanted to rush over to the intensive care unit at once, but she abruptly
stopped in her tracks when she recalled Victoria was still in the car.
Victoria said smilingly, “I know you're worried about Mrs. Luther, so you should hurry up and go see her.”
