Chapter 601 He Should Have Lost His Memory
Bailey glared at him. “Do you think I'll trick you?”
Justin could not help but laugh.
He was, after all, scared.
If Scarlett ended up getting pregnant with his child, his relationship with Veronique would come to an end.
Veronique had suffered a lot. He did not want her to be sad anymore.
“All right, I'll leave this to you, then. I'll go back to put on my act.”
“Okay.”
Ever since Victor announced he was going to sell the company, chaos erupted at Saunders Group.
The shareholders from the board of directors strongly disagreed with the announcement and constantly waited in
the CEO's office for Victor to return.
As shareholders, they naturally had a share of the company's profits.
Once the company was sold, all their shares would lose their value. It would be a major loss for them, so they would
not agree to it that easily.
Even though Victor did not show up, they did not leave. They waited in his office every day for him to return.
Sadly, the outcome was the same for the next few days.
In the end, Victoria could not hold it in anymore and went to the company.
The moment she saw the company in a mess, her eyes reddened.
The receptionist hurried forward and asked Victoria about the purpose of her visit before advising, “Ms. Saunders,
it's best if you don't go upstairs. The shareholders are gathered in the CEO's office now. I'm afraid they might get
emotionally agitated and accidentally hurt the baby in your belly.”
Victoria fell silent as she tried to process the situation.
Indeed, it was inappropriate for her to show up at that moment. Remembering that Lionel would be handling the
higher-ups of Saunders Group, she walked out.
As she stood on the steps in front of the building, tears streamed down her cheeks.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAfter all, the company was a family business her ancestors had worked hard and passed down for many
generations. Yet, it took less than a month for Victor to ruin it.
Back then, she had acted nonchalant about it. Now that she had witnessed the situation with her own eyes, she
realized she was not as strong as she thought. She could not bring herself to put on a smile while watching the
company go bankrupt and the Saunders family fall from grace.
As she lowered her gaze, she saw Lionel walk over from the outdoor parking lot. Immediately, her lips curled to
form a bitter smile.
In the past, he had been the desperate one whose family had been destroyed. And now, the tables had turned.
Victoria had taken his place.
He had managed to make a comeback and rebuild the Gezmond family. Victoria could not help but wonder if she
could do the same.
“What are you thinking about?” Lionel wrapped an arm around her waist and pressed his forehead against hers.
“Saunders Group isn't bankrupt yet. What are you crying for? I'm here. Your family that existed for over twenty
years won't be destroyed just like that.”
Victoria hung her head slightly and asked in a hoarse voice, “Why are you here?”
“I was worried about you. I'm glad you didn't go upstairs. Vicky, I'll do everything in my power to protect whatever
you care about, including Saunders Group.”
Victoria bobbed her head with a smile. “Let's go. I know what you plan to do. Let's go upstairs together.”
“Okay.”
With that, Lionel took her hand and strode into the lobby.
They used the CEO's elevator to ascend to the top floor. Sure enough, a group of shareholders crowded around the
couple the second they arrived.
“Ms. Victoria, you arrived right on time. Mr. Victor has sold off the company without our consent. This is too much.”
“Exactly. You guys aren't the only ones who own this company. We own part of it, too. What gives him the right to
sell off the company without getting our approval?”
“Since you guys are here, give us an explanation.”
“Yeah! We want a reasonable explanation.”
Victoria scanned the crowd and said casually, “Victor has no right to sell the company because he's not the biggest
shareholder of Saunders Group. Neither is he the director anymore.”
Silence ensued.
The crowd was stunned, and they cast her confused looks.
“What do you mean, Ms. Victoria?”
“Yeah, what do you mean? Mr. Gezmond has transferred all his shares to Victor a month ago. He's currently the
biggest shareholder. What makes you say he's not?”
Victoria turned to the finance director, who had been silent the entire time. She said flatly, “Tell them. It's time to let
them know.”
The finance director had been looking forward to Victoria fixing the mess. Naturally, he was happy at that moment.
Now that she had given him the order, he had no reason to disobey.
“Mr. Victor has sold off his shares of forty percent at a low price. This was done secretly, so none of you know about
it.”
The shock was written on all the shareholders' faces the moment he said that.
“W-What? He sold off all his shares?”
“Oh my goodness. If these shares fall into the hands of someone with ill intentions, that person will have the power
to decide for the company. We won't be able to do anything if he wants to sell off the company by force.”
“Exactly. How could Victor make such a mistake by selling almost half of Saunders Group's shares to a stranger? Is
he trying to destroy the Saunders family's century-old business?”
“That useless descendant...”
Waving her hand dismissively, Victoria digested their comments and said nonchalantly, “It's true that he sold off the
shares, but the buyer is Lionel.”
“Really? Mr. Gezmond bought all of them?”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Indeed. There's no reason for me to lie to all of you. Lionel currently owns forty percent of the shares. If any one
of you would like to be the biggest shareholder, you may buy it from him at twenty billion.”
The shareholders glanced at each other and shook their heads in unison.
There was no way they could fork out so much money.
“Ms. Victoria, since you and Mr. Gezmond are getting married soon, that means he's going to be the Saunders
family's future son-in-law. Nothing's better than having him as our director.”
“I agree! I believe Mr. Gezmond can turn the tides around and help Saunders Group restore its former glory.”
Lionel glanced at Victoria, and she nodded at him.
Only when he received her consent did he step forward and say, “All right. I shall take over the director's position.
From now on, I shall be in charge of Saunders Group. Please do your best to cooperate with me so we can help
Saunders Group restore its former glory.”
“All right.”
“Of course.”
“All right.”
When Justin returned to the Xuereb residence, he saw Olivia cooking in the kitchen.
Seeing he had returned, Christopher approached him with a smile. “Your mother's making your favorite dishes.”
Justin instantly narrowed his eyes and asked grimly, “Didn't you say she's ill? So, you lied to me?”
Christopher cleared his throat and said with a laugh, “No, no. Your mother's worried you wouldn't come back. That's
why I had no choice but to use this method. Mothers and sons shouldn't hold grudges against one another. Your
mother prepared so much. Stay for a meal before you leave.”
Justin's expression was tense.
Although he had purposely come back to put on a show, he could hardly bear it anymore.
When Christopher saw Justin not budging, he quickly reached out and pulled the latter into the living room.
Meanwhile, Artemis passed out from drunkenness and woke up the next day at the headquarters of Tarragon.
Yvette was sitting on the bed and staring at him nervously.
He should have lost his memory, right?
