Chapter 590 Fabrication
Howard was in a panic.
He kept shooting looks at his assistant and tried to hint that his assistant had to get rid of all the so-called evidence.
However, Howard didn't need to do that, as his assistant had already planned to destroy everything.
Since they were in the same boat, they would share the same glory and humiliation. If Howard failed, his assistant
would also suffer the consequences.
The truth behind the situation gradually became more apparent. Things were becoming highly unfavorable for
Howard. There was a possibility that they would have to face dire consequences if they did not find a solution to
make things right.
“Leave while they're distracted and get rid of everything.”
“Yes, sir.”
However, their plan failed. Zeke caught Howard's assistant just as the latter tried to sneak away.
“Where are you going, Mr. Clairmont? Things here aren't settled, yet you're rushing to leave. What's wrong? Are
you not going to continue accusing my sister of breaking the law? I remember the so-called evidence is still in your
hands. You can leave if you want to, but don't take the evidence that determines my sister's crime with you.”
Sh*t! Mr. Clairmont quickly took out a lighter from his pocket and tried to burn the documents in his hand.
Zeke narrowed his eyes and instinctively tried to stop Mr. Clairmont, but someone beat him to it.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtA glint of light flashed past his eyes, and he soon heard Mr. Clairmont crying in pain as the latter held his wrist.
An extremely sharp dart was stabbed into the back of his hand. Blood spurted everywhere, and the documents in
his hand scattered to the ground.
“Andy, gather all those documents.” Bailey tilted her head to look at Andy and ordered.
“Yes, Mrs. Luther.” With that, Andy swooped down the stairs and picked up the documents on the ground before
Howard could do it.
Bailey slowly walked down the stairs and stood before Howard. She smirked and said, “You said you have ironclad
evidence, right? But I didn't embezzle any funds. The money was used to sponsor university students. Mr. Lewis,
may I know where you got this evidence of my so-called embezzling of the charity's funds? Could it be that you
purposely fabricated evidence to frame me?”
Howard felt a chill run down his spine as he trembled. Regaining his composure, he stubbornly said, “Perhaps we
were mistaken. You did not embezzle the charity's funds, but what about your other crimes? What do you have to
say about that?”
Bailey smiled as she shook her head. “If I remember correctly, you're only here to investigate the charity fund
embezzlement issue. You didn't investigate this issue properly and used nonexistent evidence to accuse me,
thereby causing a scene and making a fool out of yourself. Can we even believe that the other crimes I committed
are true? I won't admit to any of those so-called crimes you listed.”
“You...”
Bailey could not be bothered to talk to him any longer. She took the remittance certificates from the university
students and patted their shoulders. With a smile, she said, “All of you did great. You didn't let me down. Now that
you have achieved great success in your studies, you can return the kindness to society. Remember this well. You
must always help people in need and strive to be a talented individual useful to the country and not...” She then
glanced at Howard and uttered, “A scumbag.”
A female student threw herself into Bailey's arms, crying as she hugged Bailey. “If you hadn't reminded me over
and over not to tell anyone that you had sponsored me, I would've already spread the word that you were helping
poor students. Ms. Bailey, you are the cutest and prettiest woman in the world. We're proud of you. You'll always be
an exemplary model for us to learn from.”
Her words touched Bailey. Tears welled in her eyes as she sniffled.
When she sponsored them back then, she had not thought much about it.
She simply thought that the cruelty of reality should not bury the dreams of those children in the mountainous
areas.
Hence, she did everything in her power to help them, even if it meant she would end up broke.
She was glad to see that they had succeeded in their studies and learned to be grateful.
Her efforts had not been in vain.
“Ms. Bailey, I won't return the one million you sponsored me. Instead, I'll save it and donate it to help other poor
students like you did. I might not be as capable as you, but I'll help them as much as possible.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBailey reached out to pinch the female student's cheeks. “Have a good life. I believe all of you will have a better
tomorrow.”
With that, she turned around and handed the remittance certificates to the person in charge at the Department of
Justice.
“Since you have accepted this job, I'll hand over these documents to you, including that so-called evidence. Please
help me to deliver these to court. I'm sure the judge will give us a fair verdict.”
The person in charge took the documents from her. His lips twitched as he wanted to apologize for not believing
her, but ultimately, he decided against it.
Zeke made his way toward them. He raised his eyebrows as he said, “Mr. Lewis colluded with Jacques and
fabricated evidence to slander my sister. Sir, you're in charge of the Department of Justice. You shouldn't allow
something like this to happen, right? I suggest you report this to Dellmoor and send someone to investigate this
matter.”
Jacques' expression turned grim.
What? R-Report it to Dellmoor?
If that matter were reported to Dellmoor, they would send someone new to investigate. By then, Jacques would
face the same fate as Howard.
“You don't need to report it to Dellmoor. I'll investigate this matter myself.”
