Chapter 573 Waiting For Him To Fail
“Justin, you win!” Veronique's hysterical scream echoed throughout the ward.
In the next instance, Veronique wrapped her arms around Justin's neck and started wailing in his embrace.
“I didn't want you close to me because I was afraid of burdening you. I'm a dying person. How can I drag you with
me to my deathbed? Why can't you understand my intentions? Why must all of you force me?”
Justin hugged her tightly and smiled. “Silly girl. How can I not know what you're thinking? Since you don't want me
to follow you to the other world, I won't do so. I know your biggest worry is Zephyr. I will live on and take care of
him until he reaches adulthood. Only then will I go and find you. Is that okay?”
Veronique got out of Justin's embrace and stared at him dazedly. “Is that true? Say you're not lying to me. You're
certain you won't follow me after I die?”
Justin reached out and caressed her pale-looking face. “Zephyr is my biggest worry too. He's still young, and I can't
leave him alone. What you should do now is not think about anything and concentrate on the treatment. If the
heavens love you, they will bless my research with Bailey and come up with a uterine cancer drug. Otherwise, we
shall accept our fate.”
Veronique once again threw herself into Justin's embrace. Her right hand was about to hug his waist when she felt a
warm sensation. It was then she realized the knife was still in his abdomen.
“Y-Your abdomen...” Veronique said in a worried tone.
“It's fine. I'm a doctor, remember? I won't stab myself in the vital area.”
Veronique became furious and slapped his chest. “You shall not use this method to force me in the future. Do you
understand me?”
“Of course, I'll listen to whatever my wife says.”
Veronique rolled her eyes and did not bother to reply further.

Zeke stared at her for a while before he could recognize her. “Bay, why are you here? Didn't I tell you not to
come?”
Bailey sighed gently and walked over to hug Zeke. “Zeke, just cry it all out if you feel horrible.”
Zeke suddenly became much sober after being hugged by Bailey. He could not help laughing and said, “Are you
coaxing me like your son? Why should a big man like me cry? Didn't I tell you not to come? Why did you not listen?”
Bailey rested her head on his chest and uttered softly, “You're my only blood relative on earth. How can I not care
about my dear brother?”
Zeke stretched his hand and patted Bailey's back, chuckling, “I'm not that weak, so don't worry about me. What is it
about that you came to look for me?”
Well, I wanted to talk about Julie. But after seeing your depressed look, I don't feel like talking about it. Oh well, I
shall let you off today. I'll deal with this meddlesome matter tomorrow. Bailey decided not to bother Zeke.
“It's nothing. I came to look for you because I was worried. Don't you want to drink? I'll accompany you.” With that,
Bailey took the wine bottle and was about to gulp it down.
Zeke hurriedly snatched the bottle away and glared at her. “You should know your health better. How can you be
drinking when you just went through a miscarriage? I must keep a constant watch on you. Otherwise, you'll keep
getting into trouble.”
Bailey laughed in response. “I thought you were too drunk to notice. All right, I shall not touch alcohol. You can have
it all for yourself while I just stay by your side. I'll send you to my condominium later, so don't worry.”
Zeke could not be bothered to reply to her.

At the same time, Jacques was treating a few department heads to dinner on the pretext of asking them to pay
special attention to Bailey's charity foundation.
The department heads present at the dinner were a bunch of very smart people. How could they not understand
Jacques' true meaning of the “special attention” he mentioned?
Even if Bailey were eventually found innocent, she definitely wouldn't get off scot-free.
Later that night, at the Luther residence, Bailey came out of the bathroom and saw Artemis leaning against the
floor-to-ceiling window with a glass of red wine in his hand and staring into space. She walked toward his back with
a smile and hugged his waist from behind.
“What are you thinking about that you are all into it?” Bailey asked.
Artemis looked at the moon outside the window and replied casually, “I can't stop worrying about you. Why don't I
postpone my travel until this charity fund embezzlement case blows over?”
Bailey rubbed her head against his back for she disagreed with him, “It'll be such a pity to miss this hard-to-come-
by opportunity. Artemis, you should understand that our current situation is rather precarious—we are in danger.
Only by eliminating them can we put our guard down and relax. Otherwise, it's so tiring to live in fear every day.”
Artemis smiled and shook his head.
Although Bailey was right in a way, he was still concerned.
Seeing that he was still hesitant, Bailey could not help but chuckle, “You forgot that Zeke is still around.
Furthermore, Raiden is keeping a close eye on matters concerning the foundation. He will ensure I won't get
implicated.”
Well, I wanted to talk about Julie. But after seeing your depressed look, I don't feel like talking about it. Oh well, I
shall let you off today. I'll deal with this meddlesome matter tomorrow. Bailey decided not to bother Zeke.
Artemis immediately lost it at the mention of Raiden.
Yeah, right, as if he's genuinely concerned about the foundation. The likely truth is he's targeting Bailey—my
woman. He's watching her like a hawk and waiting for the moment I fail so that he can take advantage and win her
over.

Bailey held back her laughter and hurriedly promised, “All right. I promise not to contact him or approach him.”
That said, she reached to take the wine glass away from his hand and placed it on the windowsill. Then, she began
to remove the belt of his robe.
Artemis' expression immediately turned grim. He grabbed her hands and gritted his teeth. “Don't do this. I can't
guarantee that I won't hurt you.”
Bailey glared at him. “What are you afraid of? It's not as if I won't be able to control myself.”
Artemis paused for a while and took a deep breath. He locked his gaze on her and asked in a low voice, “How are
you going to control yourself? Bailey, are you sure you can take it, given your current condition?”
Bailey got impatient and rolled her eyes. “You sound like you're only good in a certain way.”
Artemis could not withhold his desire any longer. He lifted Bailey into his arms. “You're the one who asked for this.
Don't end up crying later.”
Bailey found his response amusing. What's there to cry about? You're about to leave, and I don't know when you'll
be coming back. That's why I want you now, is that wrong?

Meanwhile, Juliana entered a bedroom at Huntley's house. Her expression became apologetic when she saw
Huntley lying in bed, looking pale and weak.
“I'm sorry for implicating you and causing you to get punished,” Juliana apologized.
Juliana knew Huntley was belted with a heavy punishment for going against the wishes of Raymond and her father
by “impregnating” her.
Looking at the state he was in, he probably would have to stay in bed for at least a week.
Huntley struggled to sit up.
At the sight of that, Juliana hurried over and held his shoulders. “Don't move. A few of your wounds are quite deep
and have stitches on them. You may accidentally tear them again if you move.”
Huntley revealed a weak smile. “It's too late for you to regret it now that everyone knows the child you are carrying
is mine. Are you ready for this?”
