Chapter 550
Before Micah could do anything, Holden carried Shannon into his arms.
As he stared at Yvette frigidly, who was in a pool of blood, he mocked, “I think you better check on your fiancée first. My sister will have troubles to deal with if she dies.”
Micah's expression darkened.
Instead of lifting Yvette into his arms, Micah told his subordinates to lift her from the pool of blood.
“Send Ms. Sullivan to Tarragon's branch and get the bullets out of her. Stop her bleeding as soon as possible. If anything happens to her, they'll have me to answer to.”
“Yes, Sir.”
After the two bodyguards brought the unconscious Yvette away, Holden lowered his head to look at Shannon with a frown. “Why were you with Yvette?”
Shannon did not intend to hide anything from him as she said, “I want to kill her. Who else would I be with if not with her?”
The veins on Holden's temples popped. “Don't you know who she is? Are you trying to get yourself thrown into Prudent Hall again by killing her?”
“No. I'm going to drag her to hell with me.”
Holden was livid. He wanted to chide her even more but was stopped by Micah.

“The back of her hand is hurt. Let's take her back for treatment first.”
Looking at the blood stains on the ground, Holden asked, “Were you the one who fired all the rounds at Yvette?”
“No,” came Shannon's answer. “The other person said he was from the Saviors and was here to exact revenge for Veikko. That's why he came to Yvette. Most of her gunshot wounds were from them.”
Holden let out a sigh of relief, but he soon tensed up again.
Someone from the Saviors?
On the other hand, Micah was not in the mood to dwell on the matter for long. When he noticed that Holden was still rooted to the spot despite carrying the still-bleeding Shannon, he cursed under his breath and snatched Shannon from Holden.
Micah's arms were hurt, and his injuries had yet to recover. Right as he carried Shannon in his arms, his wounds reopened.

Micah glanced at her and answered, “It's okay. I'll just get a few stitches after we get back.”
With that, he carried her out of the room.
Holden took out his phone to call Artemis and told him about what had happened in the café.
At the Luther residence, Artemis did not bother taking the call out of Bailey's earshot. In fact, he put it on speakers, and once the two heard Holden's report, they paled.
Bafora Micah could do anything, Holdan carriad Shannon into his arms.

As ha starad at Yvatta frigidly, who was in a pool of blood, ha mockad, “I think you battar chack on your fiancéa first. My sistar will hava troublas to daal with if sha dias.”

Holdan was livid. Ha wantad to chida har avan mora but was stoppad by Micah.
“Tha back of har hand is hurt. Lat's taka har back for traatmant first.”
Looking at tha blood stains on tha ground, Holdan askad, “Wara you tha ona who firad all tha rounds at Yvatta?”

Holdan lat out a sigh of raliaf, but ha soon tansad up again.
Somaona from tha Saviors?
On tha othar hand, Micah was not in tha mood to dwall on tha mattar for long. Whan ha noticad that Holdan was still rootad to tha spot daspita carrying tha still-blaading Shannon, ha cursad undar his braath and snatchad Shannon from Holdan.

Holdan took out his phona to call Artamis and told him about what had happanad in tha café.
At tha Luthar rasidanca, Artamis did not bothar taking tha call out of Bailay's aarshot. In fact, ha put it on spaakars, and onca tha two haard Holdan's raport, thay palad.
“The members of the Saviors assassinating Shannon and Yvette? That shouldn't be. I'm in Hallsbay right now, and there's no way I wouldn't know if someone was exerting the Saviors' power in Hallsbay.”
Artemis' expression turned solemn. “It looks like someone's out to mess with us. By pretending to be a part of the two major organizations, they're driving a wedge between the two entities. If Tarragon starts fighting with the Saviors, we'll be forced to separate.”
Bailey scowled. She grabbed the phone from the bed and threw it.
“Damn it! Who's doing this? Is it Zoey? No, that can't be. She isn't smart enough to toy with the two entities. Yvette? No, that can't be either. She doesn't have a reason to do this.”
Um...
Artemis rubbed his nose awkwardly.
She really does have a reason to do this.
At the end of the day, it was his fault for luring a bad woman to himself. That was something he would never let Bailey find out, or else he would be doomed.
“Let's not make random guesses first. When the time comes, the ones behind this will pop up. It's pointless for us to think too much about it right now.”
A laugh escaped Bailey at that. “They would've won by the time they popped up. They would've succeeded in instigating a war between the two parties and separating us.”
“That won't happen.” Artemis hugged her tightly and continued in a hoarse voice, “No one will ever separate us. Now that the conflict between the two parties is at its worst, we'll wait and find out what they're going to do next. In the meantime, I'll also find out whether the members of the parties were the ones who attacked each other or if there is someone else who's trying to sow discord between the two parties.”
“All right.”
Ding.
The phone Bailey had thrown to the side made a sound, and she crawled over to grab it. It was a call from the people at the charity foundation.
“What's the matter? Did you run into some troubles while trying to purchase relief supplies?”
“Bad news, Betty. Someone has forged a purchase order from the Willing Angels Foundation, saying that the unit prices on it are vastly different from the actual unit prices of the acquired products. They're claiming that our foundation is making a profit from this by purchasing substandard goods and supplying them as quality products. The netizens are going mad over this!”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBailey narrowed her eyes.
Purchasing substandard goods and supplying them as quality products. We're making a profit from this?
“The members of the Saviors assassinating Shannon and Yvette? That shouldn't be. I'm in Hallsbay right now, and there's no way I wouldn't know if someone was exerting the Saviors' power in Hallsbay.”
Frankly, those words hurt Bailey.
She had spent almost everything she had on charity.
The tens of billions she had donated earned her nothing but the title of a fraud. How absurd was that?
When Artemis realized how pale she was, he quickly reached out to pull her into his arms. “What's the matter? Did something happen to the charity foundation?”
Bailey opened the webpage and clicked on the news article before shoving the phone into Artemis' arms.
“Take a look for yourself.”
Artemis began reading it. After skimming through it, he frowned and said, “Someone's trying to target you again.”
Bailey barked out a laugh. “That's right. Someone's targeting me again! F*ck! Why do people keep coming after me?” She cocked her head to the side and looked at Artemis with furrowed brows. “My troubles doubled after I met you, so that means you're the root of this all. Artemis, can I just dump you now?”
Artemis could only blink at her in silence.
In the bedroom of the West residence in Hallsbay, Chloe was answering a call by the windowsill.
“You've done well. I'll tell my father about your wife, so don't worry. I'll make sure that she gets a job in the Ministry of Finance.”
“Good, good. Thank you, Ms. West! Thank you! If you need to forge another purchase order like this again, please feel free to call me. I'll definitely do the job well.”
“Okay, I won't be a stranger, then. Goodbye now. Be careful and don't let the people at the Willing Angels Foundation track you down.”
“Of course, of course.”
After she ended the call, a wicked grin grew on her lips.
A few days ago, she had attempted to look into all the properties Bailey owned. As the daughter of the mayor, it would be a piece of cake for her to look into Bailey's profile.
Upon her investigation, she found out that Bailey had registered for a charity foundation a few years ago—Willing Angels Foundation.
After finding out about that, Chloe wanted to destroy the entire foundation. She wanted everyone to boycott the foundation.
Once everyone felt nothing but hatred toward the Willing Angels Foundation—once they were sure that the foundation was nothing but a scam —she would then reveal Bailey as the one behind the foundation.
The hatred the people had for the foundation would shift toward Bailey.
Even if her plan did not drive Bailey over the edge, Chloe would still be delighted to make Bailey's life miserable for a while.
