Chapter 540
Justin fell into deep thought.
Can I do that? I don't think so! I've already promised Granddad to save Uncle Silas. I can't break my promise, especially since it was made to Granddad.
Bill noticed his silence and scoffed coldly.
“Are you not able to even do that? Since you can't do it, you won't get to see my daughter. I don't want you to stay by my daughter's side while still being involved with Scarlett.”
With that, he turned to return to the mansion. The door slowly closed behind him, leaving Justin outside the residence.
A bitter smile appeared on Justin's lips as he looked at the closed door.
His time with Veronique was short-lived, as cruel reality made it clear that they were not meant to be.
At a psychiatric hospital in Hallsbay, Artemis accompanied Bailey to visit Rhonda, who Beatrice had sent to the psychiatric hospital.
She could see a crazed woman jumping around in the corridor from afar. The nurse seemed annoyed by that and slapped the woman's arm multiple times, causing the latter to yelp in pain.
“What's her situation now?” Bailey asked lightly.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtOne of the psychiatrists beside her immediately answered, “Ms. Rhonda has received a huge shock, causing her to lose her mind. However, it's not a serious issue. The main reason for her illness is her reluctance to face reality.”
Bailey sneered. Reluctance to face reality? Isn't it letting her off the hook too easily if she can escape reality by losing her mind? I have to make sure she goes through this with a clear mind.
“Can you treat this with medicine?”
If it couldn't be treated with medicine, she would even use her energy to perform hypnosis on Rhonda. She had to make sure Rhona had a clear state of mind so the latter could get a taste of living hell.
After a long moment of silence, the psychiatrist suggested, “If you increase the dosage of the medicine, it might be able to stimulate her brain and clear her mind. However, it might take a toll on her health.”
“There's no need for that consideration. I only want her to recover, no matter what the method is. Do you understand?”
“Y-Yes. I understand.”
Bailey walked over to Rhonda and used hypnosis to make sure the latter wasn't faking her illness. She let Rhonda go after realizing it was real.
“I'll give you guys one month for her to recover. Otherwise, you don't need to work in this industry anymore.”
All the psychiatrists' expressions changed drastically, and they immediately assured her, “Don't worry. We promise we will be able to make sure Ms. Rhonda recovers after one month.”
“Yes! That's right! She will return to normal in one month!”
Bailey smiled in satisfaction and retracted her gaze. Turning to Artemis, she said, “Let's go. The atmosphere here in this hospital is too depressing. I don't feel well here.”
Artemis instantly swept her up into his arms. “I told you not to come here, but you insisted. See, now you have made yourself unwell.”
Bailey smiled before sighing deeply. “Rhonda is an utterly shameless person, so I was afraid she was faking her illness. I needed to use my hypnosis to check. I feel more at ease now.”
Meanwhile, Lionel placed Victoria on the bed in the bedroom of the Gezmond residence and prepared to head to the guest room.
Victoria grabbed his arm and suggested, “Since we have already registered our marriage, we are officially a married couple. It's not good to sleep separately, so you should stay here from now on.”
A look of joy fleeted across Lionel's face.
He didn't expect her to be willing so quickly.
Since his wife had already encouraged him to stay, he didn't reject her. It would be ridiculous to pretend he didn't mind staying in the guest room.
“Vicky, trust me. I'll make you happy.”
“There's no need for that consideration. I only want her to recover, no matter what the method is. Do you understand?”
Victoria smiled and suddenly thought about Victor. She asked, “I heard from the butler that my brother is back to his gambling addiction. Has he done nothing after taking over the company?”
Lionel didn't want to talk about Victor with her as he was afraid her health might deteriorate from getting angry at Victor.
“It's fine. He has tried to keep himself in check after spending a few months in jail.”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Really? We are husband and wife. It's not right to keep things from each other.”
Lionel was lost for words.
After a moment, he sighed and answered truthfully, “He has spent almost half of his assets in these few days.”
Victoria's eyes widened in disbelief.
“He has about ten billion worth of assets! Almost half of it is still an insane amount!”
Lionel shook his head and replied helplessly, “Everyone has their own ways and beliefs. No one can change him. You just have to understand that you have done your best.”
Victoria gritted her teeth and said hatefully, “I'm only worried that he will find us to provide him money after he's spent all his assets. We won't be able to have any peace then.”
Lionel replied gently, “No, he won't. He doesn't have anything on us. We don't need to listen to him.”
Little did he know, Victor would obtain his biggest weakness and force him to give in to the former repeatedly in the near future.
“Promise me that you will never help him even if he's in a ton of debt and is in danger. I want to make sure he suffers for it so he will turn over a new leaf and not gamble anymore.”
“Okay.”
Over at the master bedroom of the Shurmer residence, Steven passed a paternity test to Waverly.
Waverly looked at it in confusion and asked, “What is this?”
Steven didn't answer her question. Instead, he told her, “Look at it yourself.”
