Chapter 511
A moment later, Shirley replied: Wait for the right time to use your mother to get rid of Bailey. Try to get
rid of her once and for all so she doesn't get a chance to make a comeback ever again.
The smile on Scarlett's lips widened.
She must get rid of Bailey Jefferson.
Veronique had been diagnosed with uterine cancer, and she could only stay alive with Bailey's help. In
other words, if Bailey was out of the picture, Veronique was dead meat too.
Scarlett: Okay. You're doing this to get Zeke, and I'm doing this to get Justin. It's a beneficial situation
for both of us. Regardless of everything, Bailey has to die.
In the living room, Raiden was sitting in the main seat, looking at Artemis with an arched brow and a
half-smile. “Why have you come here instead of watching over your woman at home?”
Artemis gave him an icy look and uttered, “The news outside has affected Bailey's mood. When are
you going to scram back to Dellmoor? Also, when are you going to get engaged with a woman so that
people will stop thinking that you're in a relationship with Bailey?”
Raiden slowly dropped the smile, and a dangerous glint flashed past his eyes. “Artemis, don't push
your luck. I'm already kind by not competing against you for Bailey. I hope you'll stop provoking me.”
“Is that so?” Artemis sneered. “It's pointless even if you try to steal her away from me because you
don't have a place in her heart.”
Raiden knitted his brows. “Artemis, you'd better stop taunting me. My love for Bailey is no lesser than
yours. If you trigger my indignance, I'll fight you to the death for her.”
Artemis scoffed before expressionlessly uttering, “Bailey has nothing to do with you. If you keep staying
in Hallsbay, the people will only keep assuming that something is going on between the two of you. Isn't
Mrs. Fletcher trying to find a woman for you? Get someone suitable and marry her as soon as you can.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtStop making life difficult for me and Bailey.”
Raiden barked out a laugh in his anger. “Artemis, would you still settle for anyone after meeting
Bailey?”
Artemis' expression tensed up. It was a question he did not wish to answer, but he had to. “No.”
“That's right. You won't, and I won't either. I believe Edmund won't too. So, stop telling me to marry
another woman. I just can't.”
Artemis stared at him in silence.
“All right. I'll be heading back to Dellmoor tomorrow. Take good care of her. If I find out that you've been
mean to her, I'll definitely bring my soldiers to make a mess at the Luther family's base in Hallsbay.”
Artemis remained silent.
At Juliana's place, Juliana was leaning against the chains of the swing, watching the handsome youth
with a cocked head.
“How long has it been since we've seen each other, Huntley Cloudax?”
The youth inclined his head a little and humbly answered, “Ms. Juliana, it has been four years. You've
been out training with your master, and you never came back during those years.”
Juliana laughed. “Don't stop. Keep pushing me. Push harder. I like the feeling of free falling. It's quite
thrilling.”
A small smile crept onto the youth's face. He then rested his hands on her shoulders before pushing
her. “Ms. Juliana, you didn't change a bit. Pure. Untainted. Just like the clouds in the sky.”
Juliana sneered. “You're right. I'm still the same as ever. Nothing has changed with me, but on the
other hand, you've taken over half of the Hoffman family while my father is ill. You're a bold one,
Huntley. Are you planning to revolt?”
Calmly, the youth continued pushing Juliana, not at all fazed by her words.
“I'm simply taking on some of the weight of your father's responsibilities. He has grown old, and neither
you nor your sister can bear the weight back then. Someone has to take on the responsibilities. Even
though I now have power over half of the family, my role is temporary. Now that you're back, Ms.
Juliana, I will slowly relinquish my control and let you take over the entire family instead.”
Juliana scoffed.
She had underestimated Huntley, thinking that the boy would not pose any threat. However, in mere
four years, he had discreetly taken control over half of the Hoffman family's power.
If she had come back any later... the entire Hoffman family would have been ruled by the Cloudaxes.
He looks so harmless and gentlemanly, but only a few know how sly and ruthless he is.
“Huntley, neither of us are fools, so let's stop beating around the bush. Do say, what do you want?”
The youth held his forehead, seemingly exasperated, and sighed. “I thought you already knew what I
wanted, Ms. Juliana. Turns out I was wrong.”
With that, he abruptly pulled her off the swing and into his arms.
“Every step I take in the Hoffman family is a challenging one, and it is all because I want you. Ms.
Juliana, will you believe me if I tell you this?”
“No,” came Juliana's immediate answer.
Then, she added, “But whether or not I believe you don't matter anymore. I've signed the marriage
agreement, and our marriage contract is now legally effective. Neither of us can ever escape one
another, so let's just keep this show up for the rest of our lives.”
The youth's fingertips slowly brushed across her soft red lips. “Maybe it's not a show. Maybe we can
truly respect and love each other instead.”
Juliana's heart lurched.
As more time passed, she found it increasingly hard to know what was going on in the man's mind. His
mind was a maze, and she could never know what was hidden within it.
Although Juliana had come across all kinds of people in the world during her travels with her master,
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmshe could never figure out what the youth was thinking about.
Juliana was starting to regret signing the marriage contract.
In the Gourd residence's living room, Genevieve was excitedly holding her daughter's hand as they sat
on the couch. “Shirley, do you remember the thing we were talking about the other time? It's done!”
Shirley froze for a second before a look of pleasant surprise appeared on her face. “What? Did you
really get Zeke's sperm from the sperm bank?”
Genevieve was all smiles, but despite that, she averted her eyes for half a second.
“That's right. I pulled some strings and managed to get Zeke's sperm from the Shurmer family's
storage. As long as we retrieve your eggs, we can make a test tube baby. There's no way Zeke will still
refuse to marry you with the baby. We're putting aside that darn engagement ceremony and aiming
straight for a wedding.”
Shirley grabbed her mother's arm and beamed. “Mom, you're the best! Everything you do is for my
sake. Let's waste no time, then. The longer we drag this on, the likelier something might go wrong. If I
get pregnant again, Zeke will be suspicious.”
“Mhm. I've contacted the hospital, and they've signed the non-disclosure agreement. We'll be retrieving
your eggs in the afternoon for the test-tube baby.”
The next day was a rainy, gloomy day.
Despite that, Vincent's funeral was held as scheduled.
Bailey and Artemis reached the Saunders residence early in the morning.
“Huh? Isn't he going to be buried today? The guests are all here, but where are the Saunderses?”
“That's right. Where's the son? Where are the rest? Why aren't they around at all? Is this how they
welcome their guests? By leaving them alone in the rain?”
Bailey turned to glance at Artemis before whispering, “I'll take a look at what's going on in the house.
Please help calm the guests down.”
“Okay.”
Meanwhile, in the study, Victoria threw the cup on the coffee table onto the ground.
“Don't push your luck, Victor!”
