Chapter 463
The next second, Juliana's legs gave out, and she slumped to the wet ground. Then, she hugged her
knees and began bawling.
Bailey, meanwhile, neither pulled her up nor comforted her. Instead, she stood in the rain and held an
umbrella over their heads, keeping her company in silence.
Love was something that no one else, other than the people involved, would understand.
In fact, no one could endure the pain of heartbreak on one's behalf. Only after experiencing it oneself
could one be reborn.
The vicinity was silent. Other than the sounds of the raindrops falling onto the ground, the only sound
left was the heartbreaking wails of a young woman.
Some distance away, a car was parked on a tree-lined sidewalk, hidden from sight. The driver had
activated its one-way mirror function for all its windows. No one was able to see into the vehicle.
“The engagement party is about to start soon, sir. We should head to Century Hotel. Mrs. Shurmer had
called us several times, asking us to hurry.”
The assistant in the passenger seat turned to look at Zeke, who was sitting at the back. He waited for
the latter's reply quietly.
However, Zeke did not say anything. He continued to watch the scene in the resort through the blurry
window.
The rain obscured his view, and a layer of fog was in the air. Thus, it felt surreal when he watched her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHe wondered if he liked the cheerful young lady but soon denied it.
As a reserved, calm, and mature man, he would only marry the daughter of a prestigious family like
Shirley if he were to take a wife.
After what seemed like a long moment, the assistant reminded him for the third time. Zeke finally
opened his mouth and said plainly, “Let's go.”
The car slowly drove away and left the resort, as quiet as when it first arrived.
Deeply lost in her sadness, Juliana did not notice the man she yearned for had accompanied her for a
long time.
As for Bailey, she placed her full attention on her disciple, so it was no surprise that she also did not
notice a car parked in the distance that only left after accompanying them for so long.
Even though the two women did not notice it, it did not mean that Artemis, who was in the parking lot,
missed it as well.
As a matter of fact, he noticed Zeke's car the moment it arrived at the resort.
Does he really have no feelings for her? If it's true, why would he come to the suburb and quietly keep
her company on the day of his engagement?
Narrowing his eyes, Artemis continued to watch as Zeke's car drove further away from the resort. A
complicated look flashed across his eyes.
It seems like my future brother-in-law is a bit slow when it comes to love.
Then, he lowered his gaze to look at his watch. Realizing that half an hour had passed, he slowly
frowned while looking at the two women not far from him.
If it were before, I wouldn't stop Bailey from doing things whatever she wants. But she just had a slight
incident with her pregnancy, and now she's stood in the rain for half an hour. She's been exposed to
the bitter cold...
As the thought crossed his mind, he pushed the door open and got out of the car. Then, he strode
toward the two women.
Bailey's legs were numb from standing. Even her body swayed slightly. It was apparent that she could
not hold on much longer.
The moment Artemis wrapped his arm around her waist, she leaned on him, letting him support her
weight.
With a hint of distress in his voice, he asked, “Can you still hold on?”
Bailey did not say anything. Instead, her gaze was fixated on Juliana. The latter was still slumped on
the ground with hands around her knees, crying her heart out.
Artemis frowned. In a grim voice, he said, “Your master is pregnant. She nearly had a miscarriage two
days ago, and her body is still recovering. Standing in a room for half an hour is already taxing for her,
let alone in the rain. If you are a considerate person, you need to pull yourself together. Don't drag your
master to suffer with you.”
Bailey elbowed Artemis' stomach lightly before lifting her head to glare at him. “Why are you so stern
toward her? You're going to frighten her. It's a special circumstance, so can't you be kinder?”
Looking at her pale face, he felt sorry for her. The next second, he bent over and scooped her up in his
arms.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWhile they were talking, Juliana stopped crying. After climbing to her feet and frantically wiping the
tears on her face, she gestured for Artemis to carry Bailey into the room.
“I'm sorry for being inconsiderate. I caused you to suffer with me, Master,” Juliana said.
Bailey sighed. Reaching out to caress Juliana's head, she consoled her. “Everything will pass. There's
always a rainbow after every storm. I'm sure there will be a light at the end of the tunnel for you.”
Both the master and her disciple chatted in the bedroom for a while. Meanwhile, Artemis went to see
Raymond. It was unknown what they talked about, but the latter had a grim expression when he left.
At eleven in the morning, the Hoffman family's private jet arrived. They were ready to leave Hallsbay for
Moranta.
Bailey gestured for Artemis to let her down on the walkway outside the outdoor grounds. Then, she
pulled Juliana to the side.
“Julie, don't rush to take the helm after you're back home. Observe carefully and discreetly for those
who want to harm you. Deal with them if you can. If you can't do it, call me. I will settle everything for
you.”
Juliana hugged her tightly. “Master, I'm sorry for not being able to keep you company when you need
me the most,” she said in a low voice.
Upon hearing her words, Bailey chuckled in amusement. “Don't let Artemis hear this, or he'll pick a fight
with you. But don't you worry. Hallsbay is his territory. With his protection, no one will be able to harm
me.”
Juliana nodded. After a short pause, she asked tentatively, “Are you really the daughter of the Shurmer
family, Master? Is Zeke your biological older brother?”
Bailey was stunned, perhaps because she never expected her to ask the question. After thinking about
it briefly, she said with a smile, “No. I have nothing to do with the Shurmer family.”
