Chapter 394

Inside the ward of the military general hospital, Sloan tossed a stack of documents on the bed.

He glared at his son who looked pale and leaned on the headboard. “Look at what you've done.

Getting yourself attacked? I've said it again and again. With an ability like yours, no one should be able

to hurt you.”

Raiden lowered his eyes and scanned the stack of reports. He said softly, “The child is still young.

Lettie's bone marrow can save him. I can't bear to stand by and watch him being eaten away by the

illness at such a young age...”

“Shut up,” Sloan interrupted Raiden coldly.

“That child is your future brother-in-law's illegitimate child. You're willing to join hands with some

outsiders to extract your own sister's bone marrow. Say, are you sure you weren't bewitched by

Bailey?”

Raiden frowned as he uttered, “This has nothing to do with Bailey. Don't drag her into this.”

“Are you sure about that?” Sloan sneered coldly. “You've never let anyone board your naval warship,

and yet you made an exception for her. You launched the ship just to send her to Hallsbay. Raiden, do

you think I can't discern your feelings for her?”

Raiden's eyes darkened in response. I can't afford to let him turn his attention on Bailey or it will cause

trouble for her.

The Fletcher family was about to rise to power, and Sloan would be the one to wield it. When the time

came, not even Artemis would not be able to stand against Sloan let alone Bailey.

“You're overthinking it. Bailey obtained the right to develop 5G for Chanaea and it's a great contribution.

Hence, I agreed and tried my best to fulfill her request. I'm only rewarding a person who has

contributed to the country. It has nothing to do with love.”

“I see you've cut ties with her. All right, since you don't have feelings for her, you should return to

Dellmoor and prepare to get married. I've already made some arrangements.”

“I don’t intend to get married now,” Raiden replied calmly. “I will wait for you to obtain the position.

Currently, there are some complicated matters that need my attention. Once I am married, I will have

extra commitments and may have to split my attention between them.”

What a lofty reason.

Sloan was no fool. How can I not know my own son's true feelings?

“You don't have the right to choose your marriage partner. A woman from an ordinary family simply will

not do, what more so someone like Bailey who was not married when she got pregnant. You'd better

watch what you are doing and be mindful of your actions. Otherwise, there will be no place for her in

Chanaea.”

With that said, Sloan spun on his heel and left.

Raiden frowned as he stared at his father's retreating figure.

Unlike Tamara and Scarlett, Sloan did not mess around when he decided to take action. There was no

guarantee that Bailey could handle him.

Bailey was a capable woman, but she was currently in Chanaea. The leader of a nation could easily

deal a serious blow to her.

In a bedroom at Shelbert Condominium, Artemis made Bailey sit down on the bed and reached for a

map on the bedside table.

“Look at this,” he said.

Bailey was confused. What am I supposed to be looking at? Is that a map of Chanaea? What is there

to look at? The land somewhat resembles a rooster, and every junior high schooler would have

memorized it. In fact, I can even draw it upside down.

“This is a map of Hallsbay. I'm planning to build a residential area there. Take a look, choose a direction

you like, and mark the area. Later on, I will get someone to check the geomancy of that area.”

Bailey blinked, and a sly look flashed across her eyes. “Isn't it just interpret markings on the ground

checking to see if there are skeletons buried underneath? You don't need to hire someone else for

something like that, I'll accept the task instead.”

Artemis narrowed his eyes. Reading the markings on the ground and scavenging for skeletons? We're

not exploring a graveyard!

“Ms. Bailey, we're building a place for living humans. Don't scare me like that! You almost gave me a

heart attack.”

Grinning, Bailey reached out and wrapped her arms around his neck. She then rested her head on his

chest.

“Truth be told, this condominium is pretty nice. We don't need a place that's too large. It's more

important for it to be cozy and comfortable.”

Artemis frowned and replied gloomily, “But this belongs to you. I feel like a good-for-nothing if I continue

to stay here and mooch off you.”

Try as she might, Bailey could not hold it in and burst into laughter.

So, this is because of his manly ego. Oh no, should I attempt to empathize with him?

“Don't you already have many properties under your name? Just pick a random one. Anywhere is fine.

There's no need to waste manpower and funds to build a new place. The Luther residence already cost

three billion. If you build another place, you're going to have to squander several hundred million.”

Artemis burst out laughing as he gave her a once over. “You're obsessed with money, and yet you

dress quite casually. Your shirt probably came from some street stall and cost no more than a hundred.

Besides, you don't wear jewelry. What did you spend your money on?”

Bailey chuckled in response. She appeared to be very silly and absent-minded, unlike her usual calm

and wise self.

“I donated it to charity. I've been helping millions of people attend university for the past few years. Hey,

Mr. Luther! Won't you praise me for doing that?”

Artemis' heart softened when he heard this. What a woman!

“I'm not going to praise you. I'm going to reward you, thoroughly.”

Then, he pressed down on her body with his.

Bailey rolled her eyes. His self-control is worsening. He wants to do it at least once every day!

Whatever, I'll let it slide.

At least he serves me well...

“Don't build the house,” she said.

“No, I want to do it,” Artemis insisted.

Bailey had nothing to say to that.
