Chapter 326
Most people in the audience thought that Bailey was done for this time.
After all, Jason was the man who came up with the 4G technology source code. Nobody would bat an
eyelid if he claimed to be the one to have written the 5G technology source code as well.
As for Bailey, even though she carried many big names, she did not have many accomplishments in
the computer science field to show for it.
Adding on top of the fact that her submission was after Jason's, it was almost certain that she would be
charged with plagiarism.
“As all of you can see here, Bailey's codes are exactly the same as mine. This is evident that she has
plagiarized my work.”
Jason's voice sounded in the convention center, pulling at the already tense heartstrings of the
audience.
Right then, disappointed sighs and scornful insults could be heard.
Most of them were hurled at Bailey, chastising her for plagiarizing other people's work when she could
not come up with her own, causing disgrace to her own country.
Jason turned to look at Bailey and let out a cold snicker. “Are you going to go to the police station on
your own, or do I have to call someone to drag you there?”
“Patience is a virtue, Mr. Jason.” Bailey arched a brow. “We are not yet done with the comparison now,
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtaren't we? How do you know that I've only completed eighty percent of my code?”
Jason had a bad feeling as he watched her calm and composed manner.
Does she have a backup plan? No, that's impossible. Eighty percent should be the limit. I only finished
seventy percent of the codes for 4G back then. A top hacker named Spook finished the rest. Surely,
she has only completed eighty percent of the code.
“Look! Their codes are starting to look different!”
“Yes, they are.”
Jason's face turned pale.
He lifted his head, and the codes that he saw on the screen made him retreat a few steps back as he
slumped back in his chair.
“Jason's code is not moving anymore. It's as if it's encountered a bottleneck. Bailey's code is still
moving. Eighty-one, eighty-five, ninety, ninety-five...”
“My goodness. She perfected the 5G source code.”
“A-Am I dreaming? She completed it!”
“No, you're not dreaming. She's created a miracle! This core technology will be in the Chanaeans'
control now.”
Sounds of cheers and applause thundered in the convention center right then.
Jason widened his eyes in disbelief at Bailey and asked in a shaky voice, “Y-You... Who are you? How
is it possible that you perfected the 5G source code?”
Bailey's lips curled into a smile as she whispered into his ear, “Because I'm the number one hacker in
the world—Spook.”
Jason's eyes were almost bulging out of their sockets.
Spook? She's... Spook? What? If I'd known that she was Spook, I wouldn't have stolen her work. How
ridiculous of me.
Jason couldn't believe he had just tried to frame the top hacker worldwide for plagiarism.
Meanwhile, Scarlett and Zoey grimaced.
Bailey's striking back. That b*tch. Why? How is she so capable?
Their resentment toward Bailey festered as they were overcome by the frustration that there was
nothing they could do to stop her. Bailey's achievement was steering her further along on her path
toward success.
“So what if she programmed the full source code? Jason submitted the code first. She still plagiarized
his work.”
Someone in the crowd started to protest.
However, nobody paid heed to her.
After all, her claim was too ridiculous.
Right then, a man in a suit came out from backstage. He took the host's microphone and said, “Hello,
everyone. I am the representative of the International Network Society. I hereby announce the result of
the International Programming Competition—”
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBefore he could continue, shouts of speculation could be heard in the crowd.
“Bailey Jefferson.”
“Bailey Jefferson!”
“Bailey Jefferson should be the champion!”
The outcome of the competition would dictate the ownership of the core technology for the upcoming
decade.
Those who would stoop to plot schemes against her to prevent her from winning the competition were
obviously self-centered parties who did not have their home country's interests at heart.
However, there were many other patriots who were watching on and cheering for Bailey, hoping that
she would win the competition and make Chanaea proud. They were also earnestly hoping that she
could retain the 5G core technology in Chanaea.
Bailey approached the man in a suit and took the microphone in his hand. She raised a brow and said,
“Since there are still people who think that I've plagiarized Jason's work, I'll—”
“No,” Jason suddenly said, snatching the microphone away from her. “It was me who stole Bailey's
source code. I admit my mistake and vow to never set foot in this industry ever again.”
A hint of surprise flashed across Bailey's eyes.
Likewise, the audience was astounded as well.
They didn't expect Jason to readily admit that he had plagiarized Bailey's work.
The dramatic turn of events was intriguing, to say the least.
Jason ignored the gesticulations below the stage and turned to bow deeply at Bailey.
Bailey shook her head and let out a sigh. “You're extremely talented in programming. Why did you
resort to this and ruin your own life?”
