Chapter 287
The three Luther men exchanged glances.
“Pick up and see what he has to say,” said Artemis.
Bailey nodded and answered the call. “Hi, Bailey here.”
“Yes, I'm looking for you.” Cadence's evil laugh sounded from the other end of the phone. “I can hear
that your condition is not good. Let me guess. You're probably so panicked and angry now that even
your vocal cords are damaged.”
Bailey lowered her gaze.
It was an undeniable fact that Cadence's medical skills were extremely outstanding.
If he had used his skills correctly, he would have been a great asset to the medical industry.
Unfortunately, he was too obsessed with obtaining fame and fortune, eventually losing his nature as a
doctor.
“Yes. You poisoned my son and daughter, and their lives are in danger now, Mr. White. As a mother,
how can I not panic and be angry? I've been through a lot in my life, but I immediately passed out after
learning that my kids would not survive tomorrow. I just woke up not long before you made this call.”
Cadence burst out laughing. “This is the Anonymous that I know! If you had started crying and begging
me right after you answered this phone call, I would have thought that you were acting. All right, let's
cut the crap and go straight to the point! May I ask if I am qualified to negotiate with you now, Ms.
Jefferson?”
“I don't want to watch my kids die from poisoning,” said Bailey in a calm voice.
“Haha! Okay, let's make a deal then. I'll send you a text message to inform you what to do later. You'd
better not play any tricks, or I'll make sure that your kids are dragged down to hell with me, even if I
have to ruin my reputation.”

Bailey quickly turned on a tracking software, trying to trace Cadence's position with the tracking system
that she had developed.
Unfortunately, she failed.
It meant that Cadence had set up a multi-layer encrypted call.
D*mn it!
In the evening, Bailey received an anonymous text message. Without guessing, she knew immediately
that it was from Cadence.
The message read: Meet me at Egret Square in the west of the city in half an hour. You have to come
alone with the evidence. If I find out someone is following you, I will immediately destroy the antidote in
my hand.
After reading the message, Bailey handed the phone to Artemis and said lightly, “He asked me to meet
up with him, but I believe this Egret Square is not the final meeting place.”
Artemis looked down at the phone screen. After reading the text message, he frowned. “I believe he
has some other intention. Otherwise, there's no need for him to make things so complicated. He could
have just had you leave the evidence somewhere for him to pick up.”
Bailey arched her eyebrows and sneered. “I bet he's interested in my body and wants to strip me naked
and—”
Suddenly, Artemis kissed her lips and stopped her from finishing her words.
How dare you talk like this in front of me? I have to teach you a lesson and let you understand who is
your man!
Bailey rolled her eyes.
I was just kidding. Do you really have to be so serious?
Noticing the anger that enveloped his body, Bailey dared not resist and let him bully her to his heart's
content.
Eventually, Artemis withdrew from her delicate red lips reluctantly and pressed his forehead against
hers. “I will never allow any man to covet you. Let's stop playing with him. Just publish the evidence
and destroy his reputation. I will then send someone to capture him. You really don't need to risk
yourself.”
Bailey pursed her lips, wrapped her arms around his waist, and looked at him. “That guy is crazy. We
can't live in peace as long as he's not dealt with. Since this strategy can lure him out, there's no reason
to back down at this moment. You don't have to worry about me. Even if he wants to force himself on
me, he doesn't have that capability.”
“Bailey...” Artemis clasped her waist tightly and gritted his teeth. “Was the punishment just now not
harsh enough? How dare you still say this nonsense? Do you want me to pin you under my body to
have a deep 'talk'?”
Bailey scratched her nose awkwardly.
Okay. This man can't take jokes at all.
“Trust me. I can hold him back until your rescue.”
Artemis refused to listen to her. He stared at her coldly and articulated each word firmly, “I will go with
you.”
Bailey rejected him without hesitation, “No way! If you go with me, Cadence will not show up. If he
doesn't show up, our plan will be ruined. Although our kids are fine now, I just can't stand the sight of
that fly constantly buzzing around us. It's so disgusting! I have to smash it dead tonight.”
Artemis glared at her with a vicious look.
Bailey was not afraid at all. She raised her head to look at him with a firm gaze.
In the end, Artemis gave in.
“All right. Since I promised to pamper you, obeying your plans is also a way of pampering. I have no

don't want to see me going crazy and out of control, just wait for me to rescue you.”
Bailey sighed softly and hugged his waist tightly. “Don't worry. If there's any danger, I'll just run. Let me
tell you a secret. I was once a marathon champion!”
Artemis froze as shock flashed through his eyes.
Marathon champion... Why is this woman so outstanding? She's even more capable than most men!
At half past seven, Bailey drove away from the medical base alone.
At eight o'clock, she arrived on time at Egret Square in the western suburbs.
As she expected, this was not the final meeting place.
After waiting at the square for about ten minutes, she received another text message.
Cadence: Good girl. At least you didn't bring anyone with you. Drive your car fifty miles outside the
western suburbs, and you'll see an abandoned factory. Park your car outside the factory and walk in.
Bailey curled her lips into a smile.
She supposed the abandoned factory was the final meeting place.
Bailey: Okay.
After replying to Cadence's text message, she gave Artemis a call. “There's an abandoned factory fifty
miles out of the western suburbs. He asked me to meet him there. I'll need about half an hour to drive
there. When I see him, I will notify you with the signal. Then only you depart. Don't worry about me. I'll
find a way to deal with him and buy you time.”
“Okay,” Artemis responded briefly.
Bailey knew it was incredibly hard for him to say this word. It was indeed too much to force him to let
her take the risks. However, there was no other way as she had to get rid of Cadence herself.
Half an hour later, Bailey arrived at the destination.
As soon as she got out of the car, she was keenly aware that there were many potential dangers
hidden nearby.
It seemed that Cadence was fully prepared and had no intention to let her go easily tonight.
She ran into two black-clothed bodyguards after only taking a few steps.
“Hold it! We have to search you first.”
