Chapter 283
Juliana seemed bewildered for a second.
Silence ensued as she stood there quietly for a moment, but it did not last long. She smiled and said,
“Maybe I'm too outdated, but I've never heard a word about you having a girlfriend. Are you blatantly
lying in my face because you find me annoying?”
Zeke was dressed in a white suit. The moonlight he bathed in only amplified his elegance, making him
look like a natural-born leader.
He speechlessly massaged his temples to soothe his pounding head and said, “Ms. Juliana, what can I
do to convince you that I have a girlfriend? Do I have to let you speak to her on the phone for you to
believe me?”
“Call her now. Let me speak to her when she picks up the phone. I will declare war against her! I still
have a chance as long as you're not married!”
Zeke couldn't help but chuckle. He couldn't comprehend what went on in the lady's mind, and it
seemed that his lie was about to be exposed.
Seeing how Zeke remained silent, Juliana sneered, “I knew it! You're lying! How boring! This is only just
the beginning, and you can't take it anymore? Remember to find a better excuse next time!”
Zeke shook his head bitterly in response. He lowered his head, and after looking at the time, he calmly
said, “It's late now. I'll have my driver send you home, Ms. Juliana. It's not safe for a lady to be
wandering around late at night. I won't be able to explain to your master if something happens to you.”
Juliana blinked. She darted toward Zeke and wrapped her arms around his. “Hehe. I've been waiting
for you for the whole day. Treat me to a meal, or I will annoy you to death tonight!”
Zeke stood there without saying a word, but he finally gave in. “Fine. I'll get you something to eat, but
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtyou have to promise me you will go home after you have your food. Stop clinging to me.”
Juliana giggled sheepishly.
Go home obediently after I have my food? That's not happening! I'll drag him to the movies and have
some supper after that!
The grand ceremony was still going on in Century Hotel.
After the award ceremony was a lively party, and the sound of glasses clinking filled the air. Prominent
figures in the political and corporate world could be seen chatting with one another everywhere.
As for Cedric, he was surrounded by the judges, which altogether had him occupied.
Bailey whispered something to him before she squeezed her way out of the crowd.
As soon as she walked out, Zayron came reporting, “Ms. Bailey, something's up.”
Bailey raised her eyebrows and dragged him to the side. “What is it?”
“Rhonda poisoned Susan's fruit juice.”
Bailey's gaze turned cold, and she asked hurriedly, “Did she drink it?”
Zayron blinked, and a sly glint shone in his eyes.
“I purposely had Susan ask Aunt Caridee to take her to the restroom. I wanted to see if Rhonda would
do anything stupid, and she did. Everything is just as expected.”
Bailey's eyes lit up like the stars in the night, and she praised, “Good boy! What a move! Instead of
waiting for Rhonda to make a move, you decided to deliver the chance to her to bait her into your trap!
Not bad. You're just as smart as your mother!”
Zayron rolled his eyes in response. This woman is trying to praise herself by saying this. Has she no
shame?
“What do we do now? Rhonda can't report to Cadence if Susan doesn't drink the poisoned fruit juice.”
Bailey pinched his little cheeks. “Don't forget that your mother is, Ethereal, the top hypnotist in the
world! I'll hypnotize her. She will think that you and Susan drank the poisoned drink as a result.”
Zayron gave her a thumbs up and said, “How savage, taciturn, and ruthless! I like it! You have my
admiration!”
“Stop spouting rubbish. Go and look for Susan and take her to Rhonda. We'll put up a nice show for
her. Remember, we don't want Caridee around. We can't risk letting anyone else know about this.
Understood?”
Zayron gave her an okay sign and said, “Don't worry. I'll figure it out!”
Rhonda waited for nearly half an hour in the socialite section, but Caridee was still nowhere in sight.
She started growing impatient.
“Mrs. Luther, would you like to hit the dance floor with us? The dance is about to start.” A lady
approached her, only to have Rhonda waving at her dismissively. “You can go if you want to. Just leave
me alone.”
A trace of embarrassment flashed across the lady's eyes, and she mumbled, “What's with that snarky
attitude? Mr. Luther did not even bother looking at you ever since he appeared. The star today is
Bailey, and she's the one who has all his attention. You'll soon have to step down and make way for
your elder sister.”
“What are you mumbling about?” Rhonda shot the lady a glare, intimidating her and causing her to flee.
At this moment, Zayron came over with Susan and said, “I'm thirsty. Go fetch me a cup of fruit juice.”
Susan rolled her eyes at him. “Are you disabled? Can't you get it yourself?”
Rhonda's eyes brightened as soon as she heard their conversation. She quickly picked up her fruit
juice and offered it to Zayron. “This is mine. If you don't mind, you can have it. I haven't touched it at
all.”
Zayron narrowed his eyes. He kept mum for a second before he said, “Fine. You can't possibly poison
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmme in public, can you?”
With that said, he reached toward the cup delivered to him, and just as he was about to down it, a hand
reached out from the side and stopped him.
“No. She might actually do it. Don't drink anything that she gives you. You'll die.” Susan stopped Zayron
before delivering him her cup of fruit juice she had placed on the table. “Drink mine. Mine's better.”
Rhonda sneered inwardly, Good. Drink that. That's even better. Two birds with one stone!
Just as she was feeling cocky at the thought of the two little ones downing the drink, allowing her to
report to Cadence about the completed task, she heard a snap coming from the side.
She turned around instinctively and was met with a pair of eyes from where she saw a universe filled
with vast nothingness and stars.
One look was all it needed for her to be entirely hooked to the pupils that looked like the center of a
vortex.
Standing beside her was Bailey. With a smirk, she leaned over and whispered something to Rhonda,
forcefully injecting her will into Rhonda's mind.
When everything was done, Bailey nodded at Zayron, and the little boy hurriedly poured the fruit juice
underneath the table.
When Rhonda came back to her senses, she was welcomed by the scene of the two little ones arguing
with one another.
“Zayron! You drank all of them! You should've kept some for me!”
“There's still a mouthful there! You'd better stop! You keep going to the restroom after drinking too
much!”
Rhonda's lips curled into a smile as a voice continuously told her that the two little ones before her had
drunk the poisoned fruit juice.
Bailey, let's see how you're going to get away with it this time!
