Chapter 312 Selfish
Alondra knew she had gotten her way after she heard Edith’s words.
She was relieved, but she had to pretend that she was sad.
“Mrs. Lowery, I don’t want to think about it now.”
As Alondra spoke, her eyes turned red. “I very much regret that I won’t be around to take care of you in
the future. Please take this dress as my last gift for you before I leave.”
Edith was happy at first. But when she heard Alondra’s words, she was shocked.
Edith put down the mug and asked Alondra, “What are you talking about?”
“Hendry has been growing impatient with me lately. He said that he would send me abroad. And he’s
already started the paperwork. I guess I will be leaving soon.”
Edith had heard about that before. But she didn’t know exactly why Hendry and Alondra fell out.

Thinking of the gifts Alondra gave her over the years, Edith hated the idea that Alondra would leave.
Not that Edith liked Alondra, Edith was sad that she would not get gifts from Alondra anymore.
“What exactly happened between you and Hendry? Why did he suddenly renounce you?”
Alondra raised her hand to wipe away her tears. She looked pathetic.
Then, Alondra told Edith about the kidnapping. Of course, Alondra didn’t tell Edith everything. She
screened herself. And she said Kaylah and the two kidnappers set her up. Now that Hendry thought that
she was the one who planned that kidnapping. And Hendry was furious.
Edith believed that immediately.
“I knew Kaylah is not a nice person! She is a little sl*t!” Edith was angry that she had been deceived by
Kaylah for so long. She said, “Kaylah must do that on purpose. So that Hendry would want to send you
abroad.”
Alondra shook her head in tears.
“Anyway, things had happened. I’m sure Hendry will send me away.”
“No way!” Edith said angrily, “Don’t worry, as long as I am here, I won’t let Hendry send you

Alondra laughed within herself when she heard that. Alondra thought Edith was stu*id. She was st*pid
enough to believe such a story.
“But…”
“I’m Hendry’s mother. He has to listen to me. Don’t worry!”

Alondra smiled when she heard that. And then, they fell into small talk. They had a nice time catching up.
Both of them were happy.
After talking with Alondra, Edith didn’t call Hendry immediately. She thought about Alondra’s
words.
And then, she went online. She felt both angry and happy when she found out someone was
complimenting Kaylah on the Internet.
No matter what, Kaylah was once her daughter–in–law. Edith thought the praise people gave Kaylah was
also a compliment to both her and her son.
After reading all those positive comments, Edith began to think that maybe it was a good thing that
Kaylah and Hendry could get back together. As long as Kaylah had learned to respect her, she would try
to take Kaylah in.
