Chapter 908
Seeing the daze on Nicole's face, Rita then continued, "The shame shall only be upon the Wrenns. Since they have
made the decision, they should be able to bear the shame, and by no means should they have someone else
sacrifice in vain for the sake of their pride. Isn't that right?" Finished, she turned to look at Siobhan.
There was a trace of awkwardness on Siobhan's face. Her mother had always been commanding, and although she
had retreated from being in charge for years, her dominance persisted.
Siobhan softly heaved a sigh. She only gave the suggestion thinking that Nicole and Colton shared reciprocal
affection. Helplessly, she said, "You are absolutely right, Mom. I merely suggested that because Nicole and Colton
seemed to be in love with each other. But if Nicole doesn't want to get married, we shouldn't force her into it."
Hearing Siobhan's answer, Rita nodded in satisfaction. "I see you still possess a sound mind to make the right

Nicole pursed her lips. Seeing the eagerness on Hayden's face tingled her mind. The wedding was to be held the
next day, so she didn't have much time to think it through. The situation truly was forcing her hands.
"I can get engaged with President Gardner tomorrow…" After a moment of contemplation, Nicole slowly stated.
As soon as she spoke, the crowd immediately shifted their gaze upon Nicole.
After pondering for a short while, she continued, "At the end of the day, this pertains to the image of the Wrenns
and the Gardners, so I can't make a selfish decision. I can get engaged with President Gardner, but we will not claim
the certificates. Once the hype is over, we'll come up with something like faded feelings, and that way, no party
would be shamed." This was the biggest compromise she could allow.
Furrowing his brows, Benjamin was visibly upset, since a fake engagement would make his son seem as though he
was unwanted. However, before he could say a word, Colton came into the house and agreed, "That'll do."
Seeing the content smile on his face, Benjamin refrained from speaking any further. He knew of his son's affection
for Nicole, but he never expected this brat to be so in love that he would willingly accept a fake engagement.
Receiving the agreement from both parties, Siobhan felt relieved as the matter came to a conclusion.
Once the discussion was over, the Gardners excused themselves. After they eventually left, Siobhan turned to
Nicole with a look of remorse as her lips twitched. "Nicole, I'm sorry I've been rash, making decisions without asking
for your opinion."
Nicole shook her head and revealed a subtle smile, gently replying, "Don't worry. I know you did it for my sake."
"Mm-hmm. I'll have the designer come over at night to tailor the engagement gown, so don't you worry about
that." Right after Siobhan said that, a servant came in with a huge package.
The servant then placed the package in front of Nicole, respectfully noting, "Mr. Gardner delivered this over for Miss
Anderson."

was the one she designed for Evelyn last time. He sure planned everything out, huh. Nonetheless, Nicole did not
reject the offer and lifted the package, replying, "Okay. Please thank President Gardner for me."
With that, she raised her head toward Siobhan. "President Gardner has prepared the gown apparently, so you don't
have to mind it anymore, Madam Gould."
Siobhan let out a chuckle and stopped talking.
Then, Nicole carried the gown to her room as Hayden excitedly followed her. "Mom, are you going to marry Dad
tomorrow?"
"We're just getting engaged." Facing the boy's glee, she did not ruin his mood.
Thereupon, Hayden squinted his eyes, smilingly saying, "Engagement is good too! Dad and Mom can finally stay by
my side forever!"
Nicole, however, couldn't help but feel pained by the child's innocence. Although the engagement was merely a
facade, it was able to cheer Hayden up for a while. That counts for something, I guess.
